Less than a week ago you said that Osuna had no value because "This is a realistic trade thread, we deal in realism and Osuna has no value because nobody will want him".

Now that it's a Ranger involved, even though it's fairly apparently that in real life he'll opt out, you flip back to "he doesn't opt out in the video game so that's the reality we have to deal with".

Because Osuna is suspended. He isn't playing. And he may not for a very long time. On OSFM Rosters, he isn't even on the Major League squad (thus no, this doesn't change in-game). We do the same thing with all suspensions. We did it with Nelson Cruz when he got suspended as Ranger too. These two situations aren't remotely comparable. As a matter of fact, I just shot down another trade suggested for Donaldson (A Toronto Guy BTW) because it's not a realistic return. I have years of being un-bias in here, I don't need to spend my time proving otherwise.

In the video game, Elvis will opt-in to his contract. That has to be treated as if an agreement was made for Elvis to continue playing for the team he was traded too. Which is something that happens, all of the time. If we're not going to treat it like that, then we need to go back and extremely punish the value of any player who has an opt-out clause in their contract. We might as well throw out the entire Realistic Trade Log because none of it will match up.

Value wise - The money matches up for both teams.

Carpenter would go to 2nd base which gives him more value + 2 years of controls

Gyorko will have value at all position.

Lastly is what the guys at FanGraphs wrote up

Yeah, that makes no sense. Toronto will be calling up guys like Guerrero Jr., Bichette and potentially Urena all within the next 1-3 years. They're not going to give up 30M in value for replacement level guys. If they're dealing Donaldson, realistically, they're looking at farm arms.

Donaldson has 2.24 million more of value than Carpenter. Carpenter give 2-3 years of control. He can play at 2B which raises his value and then when they call up those players Carpenter can move to 1st.

Blue Jays set themselves up to compete now. Can call up Guerrero. And then once the other 2 get called up in 2-3 years Carpenter can move to 1st.

Then we just need to scrap the log. Surplus value equates to literally nothing and well over 100 pages of effort among a group of people was for not if people are going to stroll into the thread at and shift values that we all agreed upon.

At the worst, Elvis is treated like he is on an expiring contract. That means even if we're knocking him down to one-season's value, which again, I think is absolutely ludicrous. He's still worth 24M in surplus, which is still going to fetch Texas a Top 50-75 Prospect.

Yeah that's right. If we base it on real life, which we have since I've been here, it's an expiring deal. Either he's as great as you say and he opts out, or he isn't as great and he stays. He also turns 30 next year so we shouldn't expect him to stay around a 4 WAR player

I'm sorry it's the Rangers getting less than some other team but it's just the way it is

Dude, you know me. If we're going to chalk up me spending a stupid amount of time working out fair and even trades for months with people in this thread to me being bias for the Rangers then I don't know what the point of me dedicating as much time as I do to this thread. I've approved Hamels going out on the cheap, Chirinos going out on the cheap, same for Minor, Beltre and Odor. I've approved the Rangers losing an upwards of 5 mill value on guys like Profar, Perez and DeShields Jr.

I have zero issue letting go of Rangers at their value but I very much disagree with the nature of the deal associated with Andrus. It goes against everything that myself, Bard and Yankee spent hours upon hours working on for months before anyone else showed up to contribute.

But it's cool, we'll just call me bias because I disagree with a single trade involving Texas.

Andrus that doesn't assuming he stays 4 WAR: $110.25
Andrus that ages along the curve: $65.25 surplus

I thought the trade was for Rasiel glesias. Not Jose. So that means the trade isn't worth it for Yanks.

I'm the Yanks in this one, so not worried about that too much. Long as it stays fair enough.

Personally for franchise reasoning. I think Schoop to the Dodgers makes too much sense. That seems like a match made in heaven and I'm working on those logistics right now.

That's fine for Donaldson, but the trade was for Donaldson and Martin. So I'm guessing the total value of the TOR side of this trade would be around 16m?

Thats why I had Austin Riley and Touki Toussaint for them. Anyone have a better idea for this trade?

Necombe, Pache, and Toussaint is good.


I doubt Atlanta would trade Riley. If they can't resign Donaldson, he becomes the future 3rd Baseman
