NLDS: ATL def CIN in 5 games
COL def SD in 4 games

ALDS: BOS def KC in 4 games
TEX def LAA in 5 games

After we took the first two games in Texas it looked like we were just going to roll right into the ALCS. Well we were wrong. The Angels, led by a dangerous lineup anchored by Harper, Sanchez and Josh Bell had a lot of fight left in them and wouldn’t go quietly. They would take both games in Anaheim and force game 5 in Arlington. For the second time in the series we would see a veteran matchup of Verlander vs MadBum. A 3-2 game going to the 8th, LAA would tie the game off our bullpen. In the bottom of the 8th, MVP runner up Mike Trout would hit his 2nd homer of the game to give us the lead at 4-3 and Stanek would come in for a 1-2-3 9th to close it out.

      2019 Texas Rangers Fantasy Franchise

NLCS: COL def ATL in 6 games

ALCS: TEX def BOS in 5 games

Since we had to use Verlander for the deciding game 5 in the ALDS, we put Darvish on the mound for game 1 vs Joe Musgrove and BOS. Darvish gave up 6 runs on 12 hits and then Herrera gave up another 3 runs. We trailed 9-3 heading into the bottom of the 8th and it wasn’t looking good. One good thing about having the #1 scoring team in the league is that you are never truly out of any game as we can score in bunches. We got 1 in the 8th and went to the 9th trailing 9-4. They bring in Osuna in the non-save situation to shut it down and take game 1. I most likely would have done the same. Unfortunately for them, Osuna did not have it. 5 hits and a walk later, he would be pulled with 2 outs after the game tying 3-R HR by Joc Pederson. The game would go to the 10th. Jeffress followed up a scoreless 9th with a repeat performance in the 10th. Eduardo Escobar would walk it off in the bottom half with a sac fly scoring Matt Olson and we’d take game 1 10-9 and basically all the wind out of the Red Sox sails.

Game 2 we steam rolled them 18-9 and it wasn’t even that close. They scored 6th in the 9th. We hit 6 HR including 2 by Pederson who was 4 for 4 with 7 RBI.

Game 3 in Boston they get 1 on the board with a 8-4 win.

Game 4 we bounce back with a great pitching performance by Verlander and the pen and we win 3-2.

Game 5 we close it out in Boston by destroying them 15-2 with 4 HR and 7 2B. Archer went the distance in his only postseason start of 2019.

Frustrating loss to start the second half.

        ATL 2 8 0
        SD. 3 8 3

They tried to hand it to me in the 9th with two fielding errors, Myers booting a ground ball to CF allowing my runner to take 2nd. Gabe Hougard had already hit his second homer of the game, #2 off closer Yates, Tatis took what should have been a gaming ending grounder and air mailed it over first. Had I been paying attention speedster Brooklyn Bridges could have scored from 2nd, but....no..........argh.

Markakis hit a shot up the middle, Yates grabbed it and threw him out. Ah, crap!

What I love about the game was I hit two that were caught up against the wall and I had four liners that just didn’t quite find the gap, but were hauled in.

        Next time I’m cheating!

          2019 WORLD SERIES

          TEX vs COL

Texas DEFEATS COL in 5 games and we are WORLD CHAMPS!!

What a feeling. After playing every inning of all 162, plus 15 games of playoffs, it’s hard to describe the feeling of closing it out with the WS victory. For those who play every game, the playoffs just seem like a completely different animal than the regular season. One thing I don’t like is that anyone who is on a hot streak at the end of the year loses it. I mean I get that your reg season stats mean nothing once playoffs start, but a hot player is a hot player regardless. But I digress...

Game 1- World Series history is made in game 1. Justin Verlander has been brilliant for us since picking him up at the trade deadline and he’s continued that throughout the ALDS and ALCS. He had a 1 hit CG Shutout for us back in August. Well in game 1 he did one better. He pitched the 2nd NO HITTER in World Series history. The only player to reach base was Suarez all the way back in the 1st inning on an error by Danny Valencia as he couldn’t handle a throw from Matt Carpenter at 1B. Verlander was unbelievable. He struck out 7, but threw all strikes and kept his pitch count way down completing the game in just 90 pitches. 5-0 was the final.

Game 2- COL bounces back. They take a 6-0 lead to the Bot 8th. We rally with 5 in the 8th and 1 more in the 9th to tie the game and send it to extras. Feels like the ALCS game all over again. Unfortunately this time COL puts up a run in the 11th and we fall short, losing 7-6 to even the series 1-1.

Game 3- the series heads to COL. We need to decide what to do with DH Nelson Cruz since he is a liability in the big COL OF, but obviously his bat is huge for us. We decide to go with Trout, Pederson and Springer for game 1 and leave Cruz on the bench. Pederson steps up and goes 3 for 4 with 2 2B and a HR, driving in 4 of our 5 runs in a 5-4 victory to give us a 2-1 lead. After the split in Texas, game 3 was a VERY important game to sway the series in our favor. Then our bats took over...

Game 4- oh the Colorado air. 12-3 victory behind 5 2-run HR!! Mike Minor with the W and the bullpen had an easy job to finish it up. 1 more to go!!

Game 5- We gave Darvish the start to try and finish it out in COL, with Verlander ready to go game 6 if necessary. He gave up 5 runs through 4 innings after another poor start and we trailed 5-3. With 2 on and 1 out in the 5th, Trout was walked on 4 straight out of the zone. Carpenter came up and put one into the 2nd deck for a no doubt Gran Slam and a 7-5 lead! We tacked on another 5 in the 7th with 3 more HR. With a 12-5 lead and the World Series title almost in our grasp, we turned it over to Justin Verlander to get us the final 9 outs. He was brilliant as always. Faced 10 batters in 3 scoreless innings. Gave up 1 single, 0 BB and 6 K including striking out the side in the bottom of the 9th to close it out and pick up the save. He’d finish the 2019 Postseason 3-0, 1 Save, 1.71 ERA, 31.2 IP, 29 K, 2 BB, 0.85 WHIP in 5 games/4 starts.

In total our #1 scoring offense scored 112 runs on 42 HR over 15 games of postseason play. Both Trout and Carpenter hit 8 HR each.

Trout would be named playoff MVP after hitting .362, 8 HR, 16 RBI, 16 runs, 3 SB.

Matt Olson would win World Series MVP(Verlander snub???) for batting .500 in the series with 2 HR and 3 RBI.

I now plan on saving this chise and looking into starting a new one up with another team before maybe coming back. So
Many different players I want to use it’s hard for Me to stick to 1 team.

I am also pretty certain that is my first ever no hitter on Legend pitching, so to do it in the World Series felt pretty amazing! IMG_1282.JPG

Dodgers force game 6 and a move back to Chavez Ravine!

Game 5 scoring got started with a Chris Taylor 3 run home run in the top of 3rd for the Dodgers. The Angels answered back in the bottom of the inning when a ground rule double by Peraza drove in Dietrich to bring the score to 3-1.

A Joc Pederson double followed by an Austin Barnes home run started the 5th inning for the Dodgers bringing the score to 5-1, before the next 3 batters all flied out in succession.

Angles brought in RHP Yusmeiro Petit to start the 6th, who pitched a 1-2-3 inning striking out 1.

Petit walked Yasiel Puig to start the 7th and immediately gave up a 2 run shot to Pederson bringing the score to 7-1. Barnes, Taylor and Turner all grounded out to finish the inning.

LHP James Pazos came in for relief for the Angels to start the 8th. Corey Seager reaches first on an error by Chad Pinder at 3rd, subsequently stole 2nd, and was driven in to bring the score to 8-1 with a RBI single by Max Muncy.

RHP Dylan Floro relieved Kershaw to start the bottom half of the 8th and capped of a 1-2-3 inning by striking out Angels star Mike Trout.

RHP Hansel Robles started the 9th for the Angels in the attempt to stop the bleeding. A walk to Pederson, single by Barnes had the Dodgers feeling good, but they were unable to capitalize and score any runs.

Kershaw earned the win for the Dodgers pitching 7 innings and giving up 1 run on 6 hits and striking out 7. Parker Bridwell took the Loss giving up 5 on 8 hits in 5 innings of work.

Game 6 starters look to be Cy Young and MVP Winner Colton Stern (2-0, 0.82) vs Felix Pena (1-0, 1.80).

Somehow the Dodgers have battled back from a 3-1 series deficit to tie it at 3 all. Game 7 here we go!!

The Dodgers made it onto the scoreboard first in the bottom of the 3rd. With 2 outs Chris Taylor worked the count earning a walk, Justin Turner knocked a single into RF, and Corey Seager drove them both in give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead.

A 4th inning solo home run to center field by Joc Pederson brought the game to 3-0.

The Angels broke onto the scoreboard with a 2 out home run by Yasmani Grandal in the top of the 6th which would end up being their only runs of the game.

LHP James Pazos entered the game in the bottom of the 6th for the Angels. A 2 out double by Yasiel Puig drove in Cody Bellinger who reached bases on a walk and Max Muncy who singled, bringing the score to 5-1.

RHP Hansel Robles came in as relief in the bottom of the 7th for the Angels and pitched a 1-2-3 inning.

RHP Joe Smith relieved Colton Stern in the the top of the 8th, going 3 up and 3 down.

RHP Dominic Leone held the Dodgers in the 8th after Pederson was robbed of 2 run home run by Justin Upton who made a leaping catch to end the inning.

Another 1-2-3 inning for Smith in the 9th ended any chance of an Angels comeback.

Stern earned the win for the Dodgers giving up 1 run in 7 innings off of 6 hits and striking out 10. Felix Pena in the Loss throwing 5 innings and giving up 3 runs off 4 hits.

Game 7 will feature Walker Buehler (1-1, 1.59) vs Garrett Richards (2-0, 3.68).

After falling short 2 years in a row could this be the year of the Dodgers?!

Now at 85-37 the Yankees are now about halfway through August. Next up for us, a 4 game set with Cleveland in NY. A battle of the 2 best records in baseball. No Edwin, no Kluber, and no Clevinger. Matchups are definitely in our favor. Game 1 Severino vs Carrasco, game 2 German vs Bieber, game 3 Paxton vs Salazar, game 4 Bumgarner vs Plutko.

After being roughed up in Toronto giving up 6 runs, Tanaka won’t get the ball in G2. Instead, we will turn to SP Domingo German who has been lights out in AAA pitching to a 2.31 ERA with a 1.06 WHIP. Another option was Tyler Beede with a 2.10 ERA and 1.06 WHIP, but German is thought to be the most MLB ready of the two. Montgomery was demoted, Tanaka shifts to the bullpen.

                News:
                Judge Triple Crown Bid?
It’s hard to argue that Judge isn’t the best player in the sport this season, even better then Trout. He’s a near lock to win the Hank Aaron Award and a Silver Slugger OF award. He’s a somewhat safe bet to come out on top vs Trout to claim the MVP award. If the season ended now, he’d have the triple crown. Leads in HR’s with 56, up 20 HR’s on Stanton and Khris Davis. Leads RBI’s with 115 RBI’s, second place is 96. The main battle will be in BA, where Judge only leads 340 to 336, Altuve. Can Altuve deny Judge the triple Crown like he did the MVP a few years ago? Judge’s line: 340/403/769, and an MLB leading 1.172 OPS.

                  Seattle Mariners Franchise: Year One

                  MLB(R) The Show(TM) 19_7.jpg

                  ***June Recap***
                  • 48-40 (20-8 in June)
                  • 3rd in AL West
                  • 2nd Wild Card spot by 1.5 games

As Junes brings warmer temperatures it also sees the Mariners heat up both on the mound and at the plate. Currently the Mariners have won 5 straight series. Pitcher Marco Gonzales has been a comforting presence on the mound and making his case for a trip to the All-Star game. Arodys Vizcaino has been solid acting as the closer and his contribution cannot be overlooked. Not to be outdone Edwin Encarnacion has turned things around batting over .300 for the month and lofting 10 HRs into the seats. Sources say that Encarnacions' recent performance have given the Mariners pause as to whether to accept an offer for the 36 yr. old DH before July's trade deadline. The same however cannot be said for veteran pitcher Mike Leake who currently holds a 3-8 record. He appears to be lacking confidence on the mound and is struggling to even make it past the 4th inning in most outings.

                  ***Roster Moves***
                  • CP Hunter Strickland struggled and was sent down to (AA Arkansas) and
                  • RP Sam Tuivalala was called up to the Mariners
                  • Mariners are still actively seeking to move Mike Leake. Both the Angels and Rangers are interested in acquiring the 31 yr. old right-hander but the Mariners understandably are reluctant to trade within the division.

                  ***The Numbers***
                  Team Overall:
                  Batting Average | .259
                  Slugging | .375
                  OB% | .301
                  Fielding | .991
                  ERA | 3.27

                  Team Leaders:
                  HR | Edwin Encarnacion - 18
                  RBI | Seager/Encarnacion - 53
                  BA | Dee Gordon - .348
                  Steals | Dee Gordon - 24
                  Wins | Marco Gonzales - 10

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

After losing the World Series 2 years in a row and a regime change (me) the Dodgers yet again come up short, losing Game 7 to the Angels 9-1.

The top of the 3rd saw the Dodgers get into trouble as the Angels picked up a 3-0 lead. An Andrelton Simmons double to CF scored Chad Pinder who previously reached base on a single. Then with 2 outs Mike Trout slammed a 2 run home run to CF.

Justin Upton kept the scoring going for the Angels in the 4th, hitting a solo shot to CF to start the inning, bringing the score to 4-0.

3 singles by Justin Turner, Cody Bellinger and Max Muncy put the Dodgers in scoring position. But on a bases loaded, 3rd strike passed ball with 2 outs, Turner was beat to the plate for the force out ending the inning.

RHP Dan Otero replaced Walker Buehler in the top of 6th giving up a solo home run to Upton (2) bringing the score to 5-0 Angels.

LHP Rich Hill entered the game for the Dodgers in the top of the 7th giving up a solo shot to LF by Simmons bringing the score to 6-0.

Dodgers finally notched a run when pinch hitter Brandon Lowe hit a 1 out sacrifice fly to RF driving in Joc Pederson.

RHP Ryan Madson started off the 8th hoping to hold the Angels but gave up a 2 run shot to Upton (3) bringing the score to 8-1.

The Angles picked up 1 more run in the 9th and the Dodgers lose 9-1 in game 7.

Buehler earned the Loss pitching 5 innings and giving up 4 runs. Garrett Richards earned the win giving up 1 run in 9 innings off of 6 hits and striking out 11.

LF Justin Upton earned World Series MVP honors.

MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

Moving into the offseason the Dodgers are ready to try and make the moves to return to a 4th World Series in a row. And hopefully obtain the elusive win. Jokes quickly hit the internet calling the Dodgers the “Buffalo Dodgers” reminiscent of the Bills teams of the 90’s which lost 4 Super Bowls in a row.

Dodgers announce LHP Rich Hill and RHP Ryan Madson are retiring due to age. Losing Hill leaves a lefty hole in the pen that will need to be filled.

MLB announces Hall of Fame inductee, third baseman, Rick Lopez 1997-2019. (No idea who that is).

Catcher Kurt Suzuki is the only player available for the Dodgers to negotiate with exclusively. Front office has indicated they have no plans in bringing him back for a second year, possibly promoting Will Smith to be Austin Barnes backup in 2020.

With just one day to go in 2019 (year two of the current franchise). here is the playoff picture.

                              AL West - Oakland
                              AL Central - Cleveland
                              AL East - Boston
AL Wild Card - Toronto/Houston (the game will be played in Toronto)

(My two nightmare teams. so no matter who wins I have a serious fight on my hands in the first round of the playoffs.)

                              NL West - San Francisco
                              NL Central - Milwaukee
                              NL East - New York
NL Wild Card - Los Angeles (96-65), Chicago (88-73), Philadelphia )88-73)

Chicago faces Milwaukee. have lost first two in series to the Brewers

Phillies take on the Mets. have split final series one game to one.

At least my worst fear of the NL didn't make it.. that being Colorado. However, the Giants are a close second.
