White Sox are first to 40
The White Sox are again in first place after another junction of the 2024 season has come to an end. This wasnt a foregone conclusion however as a bit if a losing spell hit the team late in May leading to the Twins taking over the top spot for a brief period of time. There time atop the divison wouldn't last long however as the teams faced off in their last series of May and first of June as the White Sox took three out of four.

Luis Roberts (26 YO 88 OVR CF) had a phenomenal month of May batting .348 while hitting 15 home runs and knocking in 28 rbis. This stat line would lead to him being named the AL player of the month.

Dewayne Preston (26 YO 80 OVR CF) would Lso be recognized as the leagues rookie of the month as he hit for a .353 avg (34 AB) while also hitting 1 HR and knocking in three rbis.

Yoan Moncada would have a slow month for his standards but is still leading the AL in batting average (.369) Alex Bregman of the Astros is second (.367).

Pitching wise, Stephen Gonsalves and Hans Crouse are tied for 2nd in wins (9) only bested by the Red Sox' Jay Groom (10). Michael Kopech leads the league in strikeouts (98).

As the league moves toward the All Star Break, the White Sox will look to extend their division lead.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

      End of April - 2022

For the first time since 2016. The Kansas City Royals are above .500 after the first month of the season. We sit at 16-10. Tied with the Twins for the division lead. We dropped the first game of the season before taking the last 2 against the Indians. Went home and swept the Tigers in a 2 game series, then dropped 3 of 4 to the Red Sox. Followed that up with a 3 game sweep of the Twins and then took 2 of 3 from the White Sox and Astros. We finished up the month taking 2 of 3 from the Nationals. Got swept in a 2 game series by the Mets. And then took 2 out of 3 games in a 4 game series against the A's. Those same A's currently lead the AL with a 21-6 record after getting off to a 15-1 start. The Braves lead the NL at 19-7 with the Rangers and Marlins sitting in last place at 9-18 each.

The offense has been pretty good so far hitting .263/.324/.427 putting us 15th in Runs scored at 117. The top 4 hitters in our lineup have been every bit as good as we could have hoped. Cain, Dozier, Seager and O'Hearn have combined to hit .323/.390/.515. O'Hearn leads the way with a 1.078 OPS with Cain taking the best AVG at .352. Chace Numata has more than solidified his spot as the starting catcher hitting .280/.352/.451 with 4 HR. Unfortunately, Mondesi has continued to struggle with the bat hitting .202/.239/.321 with 1 homer.

As for the pitching it has had its ups and downs. We have an ERA of 4.07 good for 15th overall. We lead the league in walks allowed with just 55 so far. But once again dead last in Strikeouts with 181. We gave up 42 runs in our first 13 games. In the 13 games since we have given up 68. 28 of those runs came in 2 games after giving up 15 to the Nats and then 13 to the Mets 2 days later. Andrew Heaney far and away leads the rotation. 3-1 with a 1.87 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP while averaging over 7 innings per start. Daniel Lynch has been the next best with a 3.60 ERA and 1.40 WHIP and is the only starter with a K/9 over 9. Junis has the highest ERA at 5.79. But that drops to a 3.65 ERA without the Mets game. The pen has been good for the most part. Yacksel Rios, Lovelady nad Zimmer all have ERAs in the 2.7's. Staumont is at 4.50 giving up 5 runs in 10 innings. Only 2 blown save though. Tim Hill is close to being sent down released with a 7.11 ERA in 6.1 IP.

Thankfully no one on the MLB roster has been hit with an injury so far. The same cant be said for the guys in the minors with 5 guys currently on the DL. #1 overall prospect Dennis Keisler has had a rough start to the season down in AAA. Putting up a 5.19 ERA in 26 IP. His FIP is only 2.88 though. Our #2 prospect Rodney Merchant has been hot and cold down in AA. Already has 5 HR but his AVG and OBP are well under .300. #4 prospect Kurt Bowles started out down in AA hitting .327/.389/.551 with 3 HR in 49 AB. Was then moved up to AAA after an injury to Nick Pratto. In 25 AB up there he has been just as good hitting .360/.385/.600 with 2 HR. Rounding out the top 5 is Bobby Witt Jr. Hitting .219/.287/.329 with 1 homer in 73 AB. The Witt Mondesi infield doesn't look to be promising anytime soon.

We have 30 games left before the 2022 Draft. Only 13 games against teams at or over .500. With 18 games at home. The top 2 prospects look to be 19 year old 2B Sam Pina and 18 year old SS Alan McNamara. Not sure what direction the Orioles are planning on heading but if McNamara is there at 2 we more than likely take him.

                        DO OR DIE

The 2019 season has came down to this. The series moves back to Chicago and the Cubs cannot lose anymore games or their season is over. The Astros on the other hand only need to win 1 of these 2 at Wrigley to be crowned champs. This is as big as it gets.

Altuve would start the game off taking the first pitch of the ballgame to the gap in left center for a double!

                        IMG_1119.jpg

                        IMG_1120.jpg

2 batters later Bagwell would single him in for the first run of the ballgame!

                        IMG_1121.jpg

                        IMG_1122.jpg

Then things would go quiet as Hendricks and Scott went to work. Scott would be perfect through 5 innings, and Hendricks would allow little as well until the 6th.

Top of the 6th, after striking out Altuve, Jackson would line a ball to right that a diving Haniger couldn’t quite bring in for a single.

                        IMG_1123.jpg

Bagwell then hit a grounder to the left but beat out the DP for a fielders choice. Correa then hit a bullet to right for a single putting Bagwell at 2nd

                        IMG_1124.jpg

                        IMG_1125.jpg

Hendricks then hit Bregman with a pitch loading the bases with 2 outs for Springer

                        IMG_1126.jpg

Springer hit a line drive to center for a single scoring Bagwell and Correa! 3-0 Astros

                        IMG_1127.jpg

                        IMG_1128.jpg

                        IMG_1129.jpg

                        IMG_1130.jpg

Chicago brings in Jenkins for Hendricks who strikes out Reddick to end the frame

                        IMG_1131.jpg

Bottom of the 6th, after Scott struck out Happ, Zobrist would pinch hit for Jenkins and work a walk ending Scott’s perfect game.

                        IMG_1132.jpg

                        IMG_1133.jpg

Then Descalso hit a grounder deep up the middle that Altuve got a glove on and knocked down but had no real chance at a play anyway ending the no hit bid as well and putting runners at 1st and 2nd with 1 out and Sandberg up.

                        IMG_1134.jpg

Sandberg grounded to left for a single loading the bases with 1 out for Bryant

                        IMG_1135.jpg

                        IMG_1136.jpg

Bryant singled to left scoring Zobrist and Descalso and moving Sandberg to 3rd cutting the Astro lead to 3-2 with still 1 out and Williams up

                        IMG_1137.jpg

                        IMG_1138.jpg

                        IMG_1139.jpg

                        IMG_1140.jpg

Williams crushes a double to right scoring Sandberg and putting Bryant at 3rd with still 1 out and Banks now up

                        IMG_1141.jpg

                        IMG_1142.jpg

After intentionally walking Banks Houston would bring McHugh in to face Sanchez

                        IMG_1143.jpg

                        IMG_1144.jpg

McHugh would get Sanchez to ground into the DP to end the inning with the game still tied 3-3

                        IMG_1145.jpg

Bottom of the 8th, Houston brings in Devenski. After striking out Descalso, Sandberg would ground to left for a single.

                        IMG_1146.jpg

                        IMG_1147.jpg

                        IMG_1148.jpg

Then Bryant would double to center moving Sandberg to 3rd with only 1 out and Williams up again

                        IMG_1149.jpg

                        IMG_1150.jpg

                        IMG_1151.jpg

This time the Astros would intentionally walk Williams and bring in Smith to try Banks

                        IMG_1152.jpg

                        IMG_1153.jpg

Smith would throw one past Sanchez to the backstop scoring Sandberg and moving Bryant and Williams up to 2nd and 3rd still only 1 out with the Cubs now leading 4-3

                        IMG_1154.jpg

                        IMG_1155.jpg

Surprisingly the Astros decide not to put Banks on and finish the at bat. Banks grounds out to Correa but Bryant scores on the play making it now 5-3 Chicago

                        IMG_1156.jpg

                        IMG_1159.jpg

Smith then walked Sanchez but got Haniger to ground out ending the frame.

Top of the 9th Chicago brings in Sutter who strikes out the side for his 6th save of the postseason!

                        IMG_1157.jpg

Cubs win 5-3 and this series is going to a game 7! The Cubs have already said Prior would start game 7 if they get it there! Houston has Oswalt slated as their starter! Should be a fantastic finish to this 2019 season!

Oakland was 5-1 against Boston in 2019. Outscoring Boston by a score of 37 to 12

San Francisco was also 5-1 Vs New York. Outscoring New York by a combined score of 29 to 17

could it be that we could see the 30-year anniversary rematch of the bay bridge series?
