Not sure how many years you plan to run it with 23 around the corner but hope you get to rebuild it into a winner.

At the same time though (Please note: This isn't me hating, just my thoughts...sometimes it's hard to distinguish on the old internet machine!), I have absolutely no problem with someone who enjoys beating the heck out of every team, creating some sort of unrealistic super-allstar team. I remember (loosely) following a someone on here who had a Tigers franchise a couple of years back, who won some ungodly amount of games (let's say 130-140ish). It was actually quite enjoyable to follow along with, not exactly because of the ridiculous win streaks he'd go on, but more because of the absolute passion that he put into it. The guy legitimately enjoyed it, which (IMO) is huge, considering the boom/bust love/hate that people have for this game (or sports games in general).

I wish more people would feel comfortable posting about their franchise experiences. It's a ton of fun to follow along and see what other folks are doing or seeing in their league.
Wow guys, I'm glad you enjoy it! I honestly wish I could give out more stats/storylines/etc but between work and some personal life stuff I haven't been able to get TOO into my franchise other than playing the games recently. Plus as I said, I play on the Switch (PS4 broke a few years ago) and I can't go back and get actualy box scores, there's some odd glitch where the numbers won't show up.

I really am striving for realism. I knew going into this rebuild that it was going to be brutal, but I was honestly hoping for 60 wins. I would be shocked if I can hit that number now, but it's been a lot more fun than I expected. I had a Guardians franchise going and I was competing for first place but I didn't like how some of the numbers were coming out (Jose Ramirez with 43 home runs at the beginning of August). I've been tempted to go back to that franchise a few times, or start one with the Angels or a better team...but there's so many possibilities with this Washington team that I keep coming back for more.

I don't see myself purchasing the 2023 game, so this franchise is here to stay as long as I can keep myself going with it.

Anyway, I'm trying to decide what to do in the offseason...I would like to make a splash but I don't want to mess with the potential this team has. There's a lot of youth with undeveloped talent, but I think there's a lot of good pieces. I still have a month of games left, but I'm already trying to figure out if I want to try to bring back some of the veterans or not. Luke Voit is going to be a really tough decision. He'll be a free agent, but he leads the team in homers and RBIs BUT he's an inconsistent bat and his stats are falling. Stephen Strasburg is another looming decision, but I'm almost set on keeping him until the next trade deadline at least, but we'll see.

I love reading people's reports too. I wasn't going to share my own but I got caught up following everyone else's that I decided to give it a go myself, and I'm so glad people actually enjoy it!

No doubt I love this thread and everyone's franchise stories. I considered doing one myself but I'm not sure that I'm an eloquent enough writer to pull it off......

Maybe I'll try one for '23 . Anyway, keep em coming !

I started doing reports if you look way back like 9 different times. Then I would get derailed for some reason or another or new rosters

This year when they start the 23 thread I hope to be full in with one report that I can keep with. And I plan to ONLY wait for one roster update and that is the one with Senga in it since I am a Mets fan and want him on my roster

          2023 Arizona Diamondbacks 07/25-07/26

Overall Record:69-34 (1st NL West, 6.5 over LA Dodgers

D-Backs swept by Twins in two game mini-series

Is it time to panic in Arizona? Certainly not but a 1-5 record since the All-Star break is definitely not what the Diamondbacks were hoping for. In the latest series, Arizona lost both games to the AL central second place team, the Minnesota Twins.

Arizona was able to get a single run on the board in the first inning of both games but the offense wasn't able to get much going after that as Minnesota went on to leads of 5-2 and 4-2 late in the two games. Arizona tried to come back in the first game as the Twins closer, Taylor Rodgers was an excellent matchup for the strong vs. leftie bats of Ketel Marte and Carson Kelly as both hit homers in the bottom of the 9th that brought the score to 5-4. Unfortunately however, Arizona could not complete the comeback as after Marte and Kelly, no one is particularly strong against left handed pitchers.

Arizona will continue to try to right the ship heading into their next series, a four game set at home against the 45-57 Colorado Rockies.

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

The Nationals went into their series with the Athletics hoping to get their first sweep of the season, but ended up walking away with just one win to show for it. They lost the first two games of the series 3-2 and 4-2, and the only explanation for it is that the Athletics played harder. The Nationals seemed to be on autopilot, and couldn't take advantage of the opportunities given to them. The Athletics, meanwhile, were able to fight for their runs and would walk away victorious. Game three saw the Nationals awaken from the slumber, and they took a very aggressive approach early in the game. They ended up winning 5-4 on a walk off single by Yadiel Hernandez in the ninth, after Cesar Hernandez was hit by a pitch with two outs and Luis Garcia hit a single that allowed Cesar to go first to third. Luis Garcia's return from his injury has been a spark for this team, and he has to be the biggest positive in terms off offensive production moving into next year.

Once again, the starting pitching in this series was just average. It seems there haven't been many outstanding pitching performances this year, but they do enough to keep the team in the game more often than not, and it is a lack of offense that has kept the Nationals from winning more games. A perfect example would be game two of this series: Eric Fedde would go seven innings, five hits, two earned runs, a walk and a strikeout, but would walk away without a decision. Sean Doolittle would end up with the loss after giving up the winning run in the seventh. The hope is a more consistent bullpen next year will lead to better results.

The month of September is now upon us, and the rosters have expanded from 26 to 28 men. The Nationals have recalled Lucius Fox from AAA, he was with the club a for a short time earlier in the season with limited results. The other spot will be filled by starting pitcher Cade Cavalli, the Nationals #2 prospect (after Brady House) and MLB overall #17 prospect. The plan is for him to take Erick Fedde's starting spot, which means he will make his major league debut September 5 in St. Louis.

The last month of the season is going to be rough, and it looks as follows:

3 games in Queens against the Mets
                  4 games in St. Louis
                  3 games in Philly
                  Off day
                  2 in DC against Baltimore
                  Off day
                  3 in DC against Miami
                  3 in Atlanta
                  Off day
                  3 in Miami
                  3 in DC against Atlanta
                  Off day
3 in DC against Philly to end the year.

                  I'm ready for the offseason!

The Nationals continue to baffle me as they win their series against the Mets. They took the second and third games of the series, and were oh so close to getting a sweep...mounting a ninth inning rally in game one but just falling short. Stephen Strasburg was the tough luck loser in game one, which was his second start since his injury. He would only go five innings and gave up four runs with no walks but only one strikeout. There is some concern in the clubhouse as his first start off the IL was not typical Strasburg either. Game two saw Mackenzie Gore get a win with a nearly identical line score as Strasburg: five innings, four runs, a walk and four strikeouts; but the Nationals offense was firing on all cylinders. They would get an early run in the first, and then the Mets would answer in the fourth when Francisco Lindor drove in one with an automatic double, followed by a three run home run by Eduardo Escobar. The Nats would come back in the top of the fifth with four of their own, followed by one in the sixth and three more in the seventh all while keeping the Mets off the board. The finale was a 2-0 pitching duel that saw Luis Garcia and Yadiel Hernandez hit solo home runs off of Cy Young candidate Chris Bassitt (entering play with a 16-3 record and sub 3.00 ERA). Joe Ross, Sean Doolittle, Will Harris and Victor Arano would combine for a shutout, and Arano would take advantage of the save opportunity to show that he can still close the door in the ninth.

The Mets have got to be even more frustrated after this series. They are having a good year (76-62), but that is only good enough for third place in the NL East and leaves them seven games out of a wild card spot.

The Nationals now travel to St. Louis for four games against the Cardinals. The first game will see the major league debut of their best pitching prospect Cade Cavalli.

I think I'll follow this post with an update on what's going on around the league, ie standings, leaderboards, etc... I wanted to do it when I got to September 1 but I was just too lazy.

San Diego and Atlanta are almost locks for the wild card spots. Milwaukee is five games back, and New York is seven games back.

In terms of awards, the AL MVP frontrunner is Yordan Alvarez (.298/32/81) and the NL MVP leader is Paul Goldschmidt (.313/35/96).

CY Young leaders are Luis Severino in the AL, with a ridiculous 20-3/1.69 ERA/132 strikeouts. Corbin Burnes leads the NL at 15-3/2.01/206, but Aaron Nola is a strong candidate (17-6/2.17/182).

Rookie of the Year candidates are Jose Miranda (.283/27/73) and Spencer Strider (14-9/3.00/188).

It's been a fun year, and some younger teams are showing real strides (Minnesota and Seattle really come to mind, but Kansas City and Detroit had better seasons than expected) while other teams didn't live up to the hype (Toronto, Chicago White Sox, San Francisco, New York Mets). The Dodgers have to be the favorite to win the World Series, but it's baseball, so we'll have to wait and see.

Okay I don't think I can type anymore, back to the game. I really want to get to the offseason!

                        Pittsburgh 43-94

                        West
                        Los Angeles 94-44
                        San Diego 86-52
                        San Francisco 68-69
                        Arizona 68-70
                        Colorado 53-85

                        Wild Card

Better stop winning! Top 2-3 pick could be just what you need!

Re: MLB The Show 22 Franchise Discussion Thread

I made a devastating mistake with my Rockies franchise. I was having a fun time, and had pulled us to 15-10 at the end of April, but somehow I didn't realise that all of my contracts had an extra year tacked on to them, meaning that free agency would have been non-existent

I've decided to roll with the Jays. The AL East should be a battle, and as time goes by, I'll have to deal with a bunch of players aging, and a (virtually) non-existent farm system.

I'll be updating my google sheet, but man this was a kick in the pants.

                            Sorry to hear that man.

I'm struggling to find a connection with my longest running franchise in '22 due to my inability to get out of my own way and enjoy the game like I had so many years before.

I actually just deleted every franchise save file that I have, including from the cloud, and started fresh. Nothing to bounce to or go back and forth with. My thought is if Y2Y saves return (highly unlikely) I'll carry it over. If not, then I'll decide what to do when '23 releases.

                            So aggravated with myself.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

wow sorry to hear that man. I was just gonna ask why with 23 being so close. hope it works out and you get the y2y saves. I was going to start a new one but thought with new balanced schedule and playoff format i will wait for the game.

                                Thanks

I basically did it to just enjoy the game and pass the time until '23 news comes out and eventually releases.

I don't play other sports games, and I have to have a sports game in my rotation
