What about this as a possible combo deal? Let's assume this follows the Bo/Moreno for Soto deal and leaves you with Jansen, Collins and Kirk at C.

Blue Jays get: James Karinchak (17.5), C Austin Hedges (-0.3) and Amed Rosario (8.9) TV 26.1
Guardians get: C Danny Jansen and RHP Thomas Hatch (1.4) TV 25.9

This is very interesting! I have been using Collins more as his bat has been very good. Love Jano but those two deals would really put me over the edge I think, and fills multiple holes. Thanks very much for the input.

What would I take so get Eric Hasse to Cleveland? His value on baseballtradevalues.com is a 0. So I’m assuming it should take a low rated prospect?

Re: MLB The Show 22 Trade Discussion Thread

I want to get going on a franchise with the White Sox. I want to make a trade to unclog the glut of no defense, right-handed bats they have. I can not hit with Eloy for some reason. Certain guys are just tough to hit with, I don't know if it is their stance or what. So I would like to deal him and am looking for either a controllable mid-rotation SP or prospects. Sox have Eloy for 3 years counting 2022 (unless I adjust his contract to include the team options which if he hits his potential, are no-brainers).

Anyone have any ideas? He can go to another contender that is deep in pitching in a straight one-for-one swap or I can trade him to another contender for prospects I can potentially use to flip for something else down the line or just hold onto.

Yeah, I think with those two deals, it makes you the favorite to win multiple WS going forward. Having so much catcher depth is a luxury and it affords you the opportunity to improve multiple holes from positions where the aforementioned traded participants are not even in the lineup.

Are you playing as the Guardians? If so, I would just throw Detroit someone like a bottom tier prospect or a low value prospect (0-0.3) with Hedges.

I agree with this, some people I just can't hit with no matter how good their ratings are, I think sometimes batting stance is the most important factor.

As for Eloy, here are some logical landing spots I think that could make sense. Let's also establish his trade value, which is -5.1 at the moment so its not too hot. In that case, a prospect is probably going to have to be attached to Eloy in order to find a deal that nets you something of value.

              Landing Spots

Red Sox (JBJ can't hit if his life depended on it, could be future DH if team moves on from JD)

Padres (Still need corner OF help)
Rays (Makes sense as a DH)
Braves (Possible upgrade over Duvall in OF)
              Angels
              Guardians

              Packages

I will preface by saying I find Eloy's contract hard to move because of the required prospects or MLB depth it would take to move off of him especially when CWS has a barren farm.

How do these trades look? Looking to upgrade the OF in Cleveland, unblock some players in the minor league systems for 2023, and maybe try to add a early to mid 20s high talent player at 1B/OF plus some RP help.

I'd like to make 2 of these deals if possible, which is why I tried to keep different players in each deal. I'm willing to move any of the players named, plus Reyes.

If I'm trading Juan Soto, I'm squeezing every last drop of value I can get out of him.

Is there even any precedent at all for a trade like this? One of the most valuable young players in the league getting getting moved for an absolute haul?
If you wait and make a trade for Soto after the 2022 season the situation is somewhat similar to Boston and Mookie Betts from a couple years ago, though Betts was a couple years older and only had 1 year of control vs. 2 for Soto.

That deal was somewhat complex, but Boston shed part of the Price contract and the pieces it got back combined are worse than Bichette.

That said, shedding the Corbin contract probably isn't as valuable to Washington given that the Nats are unlikely to be competitive in the next couple of years.

I think I have to ask, are you going for realism or just throwing that out the window? If you are just matching values then most all these trades are good to go. If you are talking about wanting to be somewhat realistic, I have a hard time with them as a few listed, I think are off the table from their teams (Whitlock, Crochet, O'Neill).

The Mountcastle deal makes sense to me however, I think Lavastida needs to be swapped out for another prospect as Adley has C locked down for the long-term in Baltimore. Finding a similar value guy who makes sense is a tough ask though, because I would usually pivot to a guy like Jones but Orioles have Mayo coming up at 3B who is arguably a better prospect with more upside. Although seeing that Jones has some OF versatility now, I like the fit better.

Moving on to the Mariners deal, I think Plesac and Miller make a lot of sense as Miller can take over for Frazier going forward at 2B to go with Craw at SS. Jones with OF and 3B versatility is nice, but the OF is already crowded and I don't think he would be more then depth. Kwan, I like as well but with the Mariners depth at OF currently at the MLB level, I have a hard time seeing the headliner of this deal being a MLB outfielder. Munoz is a power arm under long-term control so I don't see Seattle being eager to move him as well, not sure how realistic you are trying to be with these but just wanted to throw that out there.

Going to Red Sox trade, Whitlock has a 68.8 value which imo puts his as basically untouchable. I really like the idea of the Sox getting another SP which they need big time and Civale is a good arm. Verdugo is moveable yes, but I think Boston would move Duran first.

So maybe Rosario and Jones for Mountcastle, and Plesac, Arias, Lavastida for Kelenic?

I'll probably push through the Civale for Verdugo deal, since Verdugo is moveable and the value is close.

But I would just try for one of Kelenic or Verdugo.

I would swap Lava with maybe a high upside pitcher, Mariners have Harry Ford at C as a high end prospect but he might not end up there long-term

The more I thought about it the more I was thinking of trying to get a more consistent power bat (mountcastle) and a younger higher update OF into the line up (Verdugo or Kelenic)

I could send Straw too, in either deal for Verdugo or Kelenic. I thought about maybe trying to pick up Gavin Lux and convert him to OF too.

Ideally, in my 2023 season I'm looking to run an INF of Jose, Gimenez and Rocchio or Freeman, so with their ages Arias, Jones just don't have room imo

Ideally, in my 2023 season I'm looking to run an INF of Jose, Gimenez and Rocchio or Freeman, so with their ages Arias, Jones just don't have room imo
Yeah I think Kelenic is interesting, I am running a mariners chise and I am just stashing him in AAA until I figure out what to do with him. Thinking of other options for a possible young high upside OF, I came up with these guys.

                            Brandon Marsh (LAA) 45.8
                            Alex Kiriloff (MIN) 30.8
Jo Adell (LAA) 11.1 (Tanked value IRL but still upside in game)
                            Jesus Sanchez (MIA) 22.6
                            Austin Hays (BAL) 20.6
                            Akil Baddoo (DET) 19.9
                            Trent Grisham (SD) 45.8

I would look to add one of those guys with to build around a future with Kwan and Valera going forward long-term.

However, there is one crazy suggestion I wanna throw out and thats doing a deal for Juan Soto. Not realistic in the least but would be awesome running mate for JRam.

                            Soto (206.7)
                            for
Arias, Freeman, Straw, Naylor, Quantrill, Valera and Espino (167.3)

Yeah. I thought about Soto, but I would just have to give up sooo much it's just cost prohibitive.

Jo Adell could be a pretty good pick up, and still young at 23. Maybe a Nolan Jones swap.

What would I have to swap in the Verdugo for Civale trade? Or Civale and throw in someone like Owen Miller

I think Civale for Verdugo is fair, 19.2 vs 18.7
