So, has any tried increasing the foul frequency slider? It is supposed to make it harder to strike players out swinging. (And foul balls are too low this year anyway).

Re: Too many strikeouts
I think the problem with this, for me anyway, is it seemed to really increase the pitch count. I ran them both, cpu/human, all the way down to zero. Maybe try the cpu contact slider…”improves vision and discipline”…..worked for me.Comment

Re: Too many strikeouts
I was talking about my SP basically. I have contact/power/timing (think I got that right, not at my game) for the CPU at 7.Comment

Re: Too many strikeouts
Seems with last update I'm hitting more foul balls than ever. Pitchers who throw triple digits seem to have benefited. I was lucky to even get three hits against Hunter Greene of the Reds.Proud season ticket holder for the Oklahoma City ThunderComment

Re: Too many strikeouts
I'm really having a hard time with this game, I get too many strikeouts and not with high k/9 pitchers but all of my starters..
I mean I heard defense is quite good in this game but I just never get to play it, the game gets very boring to play. I will throw consecutive fastballs down the middle and it's swing and a miss or a take for strike
I play on legend.
I remember in the show 21 and 22 legend was unplayable as I would get only 3-6 k's per game now it's 13-18 every gameToronto Maple Leafs

Are you using quick counts? Which pitching mechanic?
I play on default Legend using the meter pitching mechanic without quick counts and am averaging about 8 strikeouts per game.

Re: Too many strikeouts
For me, I’m not using quick counts and also playing on legend. Now that I’ve started playing offline a lot more, I did notice I get double digit Ks a lot more as well. It’s usually my 85+ pitchers that do it. I’m anywhere from 8-15 Ks per game, which I guess isn’t crazy, but it leads to my next point.
I’m more so having an issue with the other team just not making enough contact. It seems I get way too many whiffs and the balls that are hit are soft pop ups or slow rollers in the infield. My last franchise game I finally gave up 2-3 runs, but I shutout the CPU in the previous 4 and only gave up 3-4 hits in each game.
I’ll fool around with the sliders a bit more, but it seems like upping contact and solid hits just made them hit more groundballs to infielders instead of getting more clean contact on my poorly located pitches. I guess I’d like to see myself get penalized on missed locations more, especially down the middle of the plate. Seems like I did a lot more in 22 than 23.Comment

Try putting contact back at default and raise power and solid contact the same level. See if that doesn’t help the CPU generate more offense when squaring the ball up

Re: Too many strikeouts
However, I walk the cpu more with meter so I like that
I used to play with quick counts but I like the realism with it off ( I like to turn on a 0-0 fastball time to time)
I have my slider set which worked awesome in my previous franchise and then I started a new one with the elly de la cruz face scan roster and now the game is so different... just mind boggling
I appreciate your insight thoughToronto Maple Leafs

Re: Too many strikeouts
Gonna make another one of these quasi-rants if yall don’t mind ..
I’m 18-17.
MIN in is town, they’re 22-13.
It’s Clayton Kershaw vs. Tarik Skubal.
Biggest game of the season so far.
If you think ima apologize if I get 14 Ks in this game you’re out of your damn mind.
It’s a balance dudes. It’s psychological. It’s in your own damn head.
You want “realistic” as a gamer but you (should) expect perfection as player/GM/manager at the same time. It’s real-time cognitive dissonance.
To think you’d be upset not allowing enough runs or striking out too many batters. Max the damn difficulty out (including 10s for contact power and timing) or shut up. Y’all weird as hell.
Sorry if I’m a bit punchy on this, but I’ve allowed 18 runs my last 18 innings. Oh boo-fk’n-hoo “I’m striking out too many batters mom.” Gimme a break.Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.Comment

1. I could give a rats *** less if you strikeout 14.
2. It’s balance….it’s psychological? Thanks Dr Phil glad you’re had something solid to add
3. Cognitive Dissonance…..thanks again Dr Phil.
4. I will shut up when I am damn good and ready, you don’t have any right to tell anyone to shut up.
5. 18 runs in 18 innings, I guess getting your *** beat has made you a little bitchy?

Re: Too many strikeouts
The issue was the CPU timing since there were too many “too early” and “too late” swings. Last few games I played I was finally getting hurt on pitches where I missed my spots over the plate. They are more aggressive which forces me to pitch to the corners. I’m seeing more walks for me too because the CPU will finally hit it.
Thanks for the suggestions and pointing me in the right direction though.Comment
