Just a heads up, you don't need PS+ for the in-game cloud save option.

I'd try rebuilding the database on the PS5. Probably won't help, but it's worth a shot.
I sympathize with anyone that as happen too. If you do a periodic " Upload to the cloud" would that prevent that if a corrupted save occurs?

I think Lopez will be a future closer for me as well. I'm using him in a variety of roles out of the pen so far. He's fun to pitch with.

How does a file become corrupted? That is awful, sorry that happened and hope it can be recovered. I would be pretty devastated if that happened to my Reds franchise. With a handful of other games I rotate in I highly doubt I would even bother playing MLB 24 for a long while.

Re: MLB The Show 24 Franchise Mode Discussion Thread

I got one to caulk up in the “Franchise oddities” for everyone. I’m guessing a bug, and a bizarre one at that. I was simming through a couple days and got a custom game entry pop up. We were playing the giants, down 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth with a runner on. (Were the cardinals)

8th inning, leave a runner stranded. Top 9, giants don’t do anything. Bottom 9, nootbaar comes up, hits a game tying home run. Then Brandon Crawford comes up, hits a home run to walk it off. Cool.

That’s when it gets weird.. player of the game… Relief Pitcher, John King… okay, whatever. And the reason why? *checks notes* went 2 for 4 with a triple and an RBi. Nothing in the box score, but sure enough it shows up in his season stats.

              So that’s interesting/..

Re: MLB The Show 24 Franchise Mode Discussion Thread

Just a quick update on my Nationals franchise. They finished June with a 14-9 record and sit in second place in the NL East with an overall record of 46-39. However, the offense is rather inconsistent and the team finds itself 4 games out of a Wild Card position heading into the second half of the season.

The good news is the team is healthy, and has their opening day roster back in order for the first time in a long time. However, Luis Garcia is still struggling and has spent more time in the dugout than on the field as CJ Abrams has taken over at second. The club hasn't given up on Garcia, as he has batted just over .300 over the past three years; but they are definitely more than a little concerned.

On the pitching side, MacKenzie Gore is really starting to solidify himself as the ace going forward. Stephen Strasburg is the designated No 1 by default, but that is more an honorific than performance based accolade. Gore enters July with a record of 10-4 and an ERA of 2.68. The Washington bullpen has been less effective and will definitely be the focal point as we approach the trade deadline.

And speaking of the deadline, it remains to be seen what moves Washington will make. They are in a hard luck position of being a good, not great, team with playoff potential, but are stuck in a division where they must rely on fighting with several teams for a wild card spot. With a deep farm system, they can definitely make some moves to make a run for the playoffs this year...but it would be quite a gamble to lose so many good prospects. Stay tuned, this could be intersting!

Not sure, I did things the same as I always do. Really weird that a cloud save would be corrupted I mean I get something inside my system messing up but not a cloud save.

                        Cardinals Update

Cardinals are currently 82-74 on the season which is good for a tie of the NL Central Division lead with the Brewers. The Reds sit 2 1/2 out while the Cubs have been eliminated. These three teams are also battling for the third wildcard spot as the Cards, Brewers and Reds are the only teams still left to secure that final spot.

The Cardinals were swept by the Blue Jays in Toronto as the Blue Birds belted 11 homeruns in the 3 game series. After that, the Cards split a 4 game series with the Pirates in St.Louis and then dropped 2 of 3 to the Guardians in the final home series of the regular season. The bullpen continues to be a weak spot as they gave up 8 runs total to the Guardians in the top of the 8th and 9th to blow a 9-2 lead.

The Cardinals are now in Colorado for a 3 game series with the Rockies before travelling to San Francisco for a 3 game series with the Giants to close out the season.

                        Playoff teams thus far..

The following teams will be playing baseball in October:

                        Rays (won AL East)
                        Twins (won AL Central)
                        Rangers (clinched spot)

                        Phillies (clinched spot)
                        Braves (clinched spot)
Dodgers (won NL West - clinched best record in NL)
                        Diamondbacks (clinched wildcard spot)
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

This game can humble you quick.

After sweeping the Marlins to push our winning streak to five, we traveled to Houston and were promptly swept by the Astros, losing 5-4, 4-2 and 9-5. I can't remember the last time playing this series I was swept by a team other than the Dodgers.

Charlie Morton and Jesse Chavez are showing signs of their age. In the series finale, Morton was tagged for six runs in five innings. Chavez allowed two of those inherited runners to score and also gave up three of his own.

Fortunately the rest of the NL East had a tough week too. At 13-6, we still have a three-game lead over the Phillies.

We return home, but now we get the defending World Series champion Rangers, who also have the league's best record at 15-4. And we get deGrom and Scherzer in the first two games. Going to be fun times.

Cubs take series from defending WS champs to start year

The Chicago Cubs took two of three against the 2023 World Series champion Texas Rangers in their first series of 2024.

The Champs got out to a nice start in game one as they got out to a 4-0 lead. That lead was equalized in the seventh when Patrick Wisdom got his first hit of and first homerun of the season with the bases loaded for a grand slam to tie it at 4-4.

That score held as the teams went into extras but was broken up after the Cub's first batter, Christopher Morel hit a ball into the left field seats to give the Cubs the 6-4 lead.

Adbert Alzolay then came in and pitched a flawless bottom of the 10th for his first save of the season.

Chicago got out to the early lead in game two as they scored two in the first off of an Ian Happ two run HR. Unfortunately. that is all they could muster while Texas got to Kyle Hendricks for six runs and 12 hits to take game two, 6-2.

The Cubs again got out to a 2-0 lead in game three but were able to maintain that as they eventually won, 5-2 to take their first series of 2024.

The Cubs will now head to Wrigley for their first time in 2024 as they welcome the 2-2 Colorado Rockies to town.

*since my A's franchise died, I tried several teams to include the Rockies, my Astros and the Angels. I think I found a team I will have fun with in the Cubs. Heres for hoping for no corrupted saves.

Cardinals drop series to Rockies in Colorado

The Cardinals (83-76) dropped the series to the Rockies in Colorado and now find themselves a game behind the Brewers in the NL Central and just one game up on the Reds for the final wildcard spot.

The Cardinals won on Tuesday as Dakota Hudson was good against his former team. Hudson would go 5 innings giving up 4 runs on 7 hits with 3 strikeouts. The bullpen was shaky giving up 3 more runs, but the bats were hitting as the Cardinals would win 11-7 thanks in part to Nolan Gorman's 5 RBI day.

Wednesday was Miles Mikolas and he was good but the bullpen was poor. Mikolas got thru 6 yielding a single run on just 4 hits and had a 5-1 lead. But the bullpen would give up 9 runs as the Cards fell 10-5.

Thursday was just ugly as Matthew Liberatore never got out of the first inning giving up 7 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks. The bullpen couldn't do much better as the Cardinals got blown out 12-2.

Next up is the regular season's final series as the Cardinals travel to San Francisco to face the Giants.

Cardinals swept by Giants but still reach postseason

The Cardinals (83-79) were swept by the Giants in a 3 game series over the weekend in San Francisco. Despite being swept, the Cardinals will still be playing October baseball as the final wildcard team. The Cardinals beat out the Reds who dropped 2 of 3 to the Cubs thus having an identical record to the Cards. But the Cardinals will be going to the postseason thanks to winning the season series vs the Reds.

The Cardinals made a terrific comeback Friday night scoring 4 in the top of the 9th to take a 7-5 lead. Unfortunately Ryan Helsley blew the save giving up a 3 run bomb to Mike Yaztremski after walking the first two hitters. On Saturday, Sonny Gray made one bad pitch, and gave up a 3 run homerun after a walk and error and that would be all the Giants would need in route to a 4-2 victory. Sunday, Dakota Hudson got knocked out in the 3rd, as the Giants wallopped the Cardinals 13-4.

But despite the bad weekend and the 5 game losing streak, the Cards will be playing October baseball against the Brewers in the Wildcard Series. The Brewers won the regular season series.
