In FA the only things that you are able to change are years and average annual value. Where are the team and player options? What about an option for frontloading or backloading a contract? What happened SDS?

One small detail I like is that when using regional theme, the news ticker instead of saying MLB The Show or a sponsorship if you used it, it now shows your regional broadcast network. Ex in video New England is listed.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

For Bullpen Logic, and I know I'm oversimplifying this, but why can't the logic be something like this:
- If energy is 75% - 100%, then reliever can be used the very next day, but might be limited
- If energy 50% - 74%, then reliever will need a day's rest between appearances
- If energy is 25% - 49%, then reliever will need two day's rest between appearances
- If energy is 0%-24%, then reliever will need 3 day of rest between appearances
The above numbers can change, but then we would just need to mess with stamina sliders at that point, one variable instead of two.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Deep Dive Franchise Front Office Experience
Watched the in depth live franchise video. Overall I do like the free agency changes. The added info on player cards is really nice. Being able to see last 10 games played stats for all players will be more involved way to track hot and cold streaks.
I don't like how they didn't say lineup and bullpen usage logic was even touched or not. They briefly mentioned lineup and bullpen logic, but he seemed to be talking about them not stacking positions anymore from free agency.
That's great, but doesn't solve the bullpen usage management that we have the problem with. It wasn't expected to be fixed so it's okay. However, with all the new additions for off-season I'm going to have to say goodbye to 30 team control to enjoy all of it properly. That will make the bullpen logic unable to be fixed with setting up their bullpens how we normally do. So it's a double edged sword for me. Looking forward to the game nonetheless.

When you setup your second profile for the other 29 teams (I name it CPU) you simply set sign free agents (amd whatever else you do not want to control) to auto.
They will compete with you in the off season.
I only use 30 team control to set lineups and rotations.
Free agency, trades, scouting etc all set to auto for my CPU profile that I assign to the other 29 teams. Now Playing on PS5:

Re: MLB The Show 25 Deep Dive Franchise Front Office Experience
If there wasn't player options or opt outs wouldn't alonso and bregman be on that FA list. If they were simulating next offseason as they were nowhere to be seen.. If I had to assume those options are still there if signing extensions and from the FA Pool but withing free agency there isntLast edited by Stucatz; 02-28-2025, 07:48 AM.Comment

I think the fix would need to include a total reworking of how the game interprets situations first off.
For example, a setup guy shouldn’t only be used in games with a 1-2 run lead. LRP’s shouldn’t be used as a 4 IP guy unless a starter gets pulled in the 1st.
Next, they need to go the CFB25 route and add wear and tear to pitchers. As someone stated above, you can throw a guy 4 times in 5 days and not really have any injury risk. There are way too few injuries for the game to simulate IP correctly.
Teams use 13-17 pitchers a year when IRL that number is closer to 25-30
I did extensive testing on durability last year and found it had no effect on pitcher injuries. They seem totally random and dependent upon the injury slider.

Re: MLB The Show 25 Deep Dive Franchise Front Office Experience
I have have regrettably reached the point of acceptance that I no longer matter as a consumer to sports gaming companies. They are done with me, and I am pretty much done with them. I only play offline, either exhibition, season, or franchise.
It's infuriating that there are no good alternatives in licensed sports games anymore.
It is so frustrating to be able to play 82 game, 7 inning seasons in games from 20 years ago, but not have those options in 2025.
The atmosphere in the recent MLB games is alarmingly dull. Again, games from more than a decade ago are full of life.Comment

For instance, last year Blake Snell didn't have an opt out on his in-game contract, so without editing it, he would simply stay on his 2 year deal with SF regardless of performance.
Can always just edit them to 1 year deals prior to starting your franchise, but still kind of a big whiff in my opinion. In Alonso's case, I'd imagine opting out is a given, not really sure about Bregman.2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Deep Dive Franchise Front Office Experience
Mixed emotions on the stream. I do like the new Free Agency format. For years we've been hoping for a restructured FA system. The previous system was lackluster. The inability to match final offers, small market teams signing mega contracts. Seemingly random contract offers and agreements while also very easy to manipulate and simply outbid all other teams to keep the interest bar high. All of these factors made FA rather boring and tedious at times.
Having a streamlined and in-depth risk/reward system will be a fun addition to play through and see how good of a GM you really are. I like the idea of having to strategically target specific players and risk losing other FA who want to sign quickly. Rather than offer 10+ contracts and when one player signs you withdraw others you've offered for that position.
I am also in the same boat of you all who were hoping for better bullpen logic. It is frustrating in the current state having some RP pitch less than 30 innings while another has well over 100. I'm going to do my best to ignore and take it for what it is and not get too emotionally attached to sim stats of a CPU bullpen. It's not worth it anymore.
The large majority of franchise players who play the game are MUCH more excited by these Free Agency changes than they would be with improved Bullpen logic. SDS is chasing sales and selling to the masses. Thus, why these legacy issues are not at the forefront of their dev cycles.
It's promising that when they did decide to fix Scouting/Drafting and now Free Agency, it was done right and in-depth. (Perfect? No, never will be)
I can wait patiently and when the time comes that TBarnes and Clayton are given the green light to truly address Roster, Bullpen, Lineup, Rotation, Progression/Regression logic that it'll be done right and thoroughly.
Until then, I will gladly sink another 12 months in my franchise.
I will be doing some test sims to see how FA looks. My biggest gripes in years past has been position stacking. It looks like that was addressed which may let me act as a GM of my one team and not a god over all 30 teams.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Deep Dive Franchise Front Office Experience
Common sense tells me they haven't done enough to warrant throwing away my mlbts23 franchise but they have apparently made some changes to the draft and trade logic although they spent almost the entire video on the same topic free agency.
I'm leaning toward buying the game.≡Comment

So countryboy
So do you got anything more to say about Franchise that they didn’t show us? You kept telling us to watch the stream, and we did but it showed us virtually nothing. Just an hours worth of free agency…
