Halfway between doing Extreme Conquest, and a bunch of programs/career arcs/immortal challenges. Don't know which direction to push though

Re: What are you working on thread
I should post here more often. My next game after posting this not only did I get my Home Run by of all people Harold Baines. Then once that happened both Edmonds and Martinez decided join in and hit one.
And Torre finally decided it was time not just for a single and a double but also a HR.
Next up. MLB stats. I am most worried about the triple.Comment

Re: What are you working on thread
Just managed to miraculously beat the Dodgers in 2 turns, which means beating them twice on Legend in a row. Seriously tough, I was against Kershaw both times and got really lucky to somehow comeback from a run down in the third thanks to two lucky hits, followed by Billy Hamilton pinch running for the double steal, followed by an incredibly lucky contact swing grubber that just crept up the middle to score both runners.
Up to 40% now but it's been seriously tough going. I can't see myself ever being able to do multiple teams in a row because each game on legend for me is a coin tossComment

Re: What are you working on thread
Sometimes this game makes me wonder....it took almost 30 quits to get 1 of 2 starting pitchers I have in my five man rotation that are mission pitchers....I finally get my Diamond Saberhagen who needs a complete game shutout. I’m playing the aweful Tigers on rookie a level that I rarely give up any runs on. First batter hits a double on a pitch out of the strike zone. Second batter hits a double on a pitch out of the strike zone 1-0 and mission aborted....next batter hits a home run 3-0......
......so.....top of the second I tie it 3-3 and I bring in my Gold Nolan Ryan RP who I need to get 4 innings 4 Strike outs and a win in the same game with...I figure all is not lost I can accomplish something. I strike out 9 batters in a row but it’s still tied because now I can only hit into double plays or weak infielder pop ups on rookie. In Nolan Ryan’s last inning of work he strikes out another making it 10 in a row but then.....on a pitch high and inside out of the strike zone Detroit hits a HR.....I lose the game 4-3 and complete no missions....Ugh.Comment

Re: What are you working on thread
I'm in pretty much the exact same situation with the Giants stronghold. (although I could get there again easier if need be) It's mentally exhausting playing the back to back games on legend as you so desperately don't want to have to do it all again. The amount of concentration and patience to play on that difficulty is too much for me to do too much of, only short bursts.Comment

Re: What are you working on thread
Finished Sutton's arc. Got the diamond Jack Morris and working towards finishing that. Almost got the Gold Saberhagen unlocked. Currently working on Smith, Hoffman and Gossage's W/4IP and 25 saves. Fun times.
Saw someone above mention the RF gap in Tigers Stadium takes some HRs away from you, and it robbed me one that woulda finished Saltamacchia off. Thought it was gone off the bat, and it hit the top of the wall out there. I was pissed. Finished that game 5-5 with 3dbls with him. Ugh.Comment

Re: What are you working on thread
The number of mission players, career arcs, and immortals is daunting. I decided early on I was going to create an all-time Cleveland Indians team, since that's where I'm from and who I grew up watching. It's a big challenge since I'm not spending money and the Indians set is arguably the most expensive to complete. I'm focused on Diamond Larry Doby, Diamond Orel Hershiser and Diamond Bob Feller. I've been grinding the market hard, and I'm at around 150K stubs (should cost around 225K to get the Diamonds to complete the Indians Live series), plus halfway through the stats mission to acquire Diamond Doby. I'm also going to try to get the Diamond Encarnacion and I'm looking forward to the release of the Albert Belle missions. Finished Conquest today. Started Conquest Extreme and beat the Cubs first try. Hoping to have Feller, Doby and Hershiser within two weeks.End Game Lineup: http://2kmtcentral.com/17/lineups/10...ine-end-lineup

Re: What are you working on thread
I used Slaughter, Jones (got lucky and pulled Machado from a pack) and Joyce. I didn't get Edmonds until i only needed 5 runs and 4 rbi's to complete it.Comment

Re: What are you working on thread
Just finished the HanRam Program. Card is good, but honestly, I like Ian Desmond and Pee Wee Reese better. Just need 15 2B with Joe Torre, and I'd be a lot closer on the Billy Williams program if I could hit a dinger with Seth SmithComment

Diamond Billy Williams is a great card also, he absolutely rakes for meComment

Re: What are you working on thread
The computers fielding is absolutely killing me in Conquest extreme. I seriously don't know how the developers could play even a single game against the computer and think the fielding was ok. It's like playing against the alien team from Space Jam, every infielder is reacting before the ball is even hit, the outfielders are somehow outrunning 100mph line drives and the diving and jump catches are just ridiculous.
They said they were going to change the fielding so worse fielders played worse, but apparently that's only when human players are controlling them, when they all forget how to pick up a ball rolling slowly towards them. So frustrating.Comment

About to dive into the AL/NL hitting/pitching missions and then will be completely confused as to where to go next.Comment

Re: What are you working on thread
20% done with Conquest Extreme after maybe 3 hours of playing. I was expecting it to be almost impossible, but thus far I've been hitting the cover off the ball, even on Hall of Fame and Legend. The rewards from the first Conquest are definitely enough to complete the 12 missions to take certain strongholds in a given number of turns. Not sure what happens after that, since that only puts you at 60% completion. Anyone finish it already and know the answer? I'm guessing some nonsense exchanges and maybe some new stat challenges?
A few tips for those looking to take on Conquest Extreme, based on my limited exposure:
-You can't get to certain strongholds without stealing fans, and you'll want to maximize your thefts by playing a CPU opponent on Legend (I suggest the Marlins because their team is barely MLB-quality)
-Work the count - the CPU will be hitting the corners pretty consistently on Hall of Fame and Legend, but they'll also miss the zone often enough that you'll be able to work some outs. Every baserunner is very important with the short games and high difficulty
-Don't be afraid to run out a new reliever out every few outs. They tire so quickly and hitting your spots is so much harder than the other difficulties that having them as fresh as can be is big. If you're doing this with a lead, it'll also help you hit the "holds" requirement for the April stat missionsEnd Game Lineup: http://2kmtcentral.com/17/lineups/10...ine-end-lineup
