Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
So, do you guys think contact at 5 and power remaining at 4, with solid hits at 3 is the way to go? I've played a few games today with it at that setting on HOF and am liking it alot as of now. I am using the Orioles, so I don't really have the best pitching staff. I won 5-3 the first game, then lost 8-2 and 7-4 to the Yankees.Highheat's O's Franchise

Okay, I'm not quite as essentric as him, but write it down:

Batting Average- 0.215 (30th)
Runs- 74 (29th)
Hits- 178 (30th)
Doubles- 35 (21st)
Triples- 16 (1st, +8 over Boston in 2nd)
Home Runs- 14 (30th)
RBI's- 72 (29th)
Stolen Bases- 9 (20th)
Walks Drawn- 68 (21st)
Strikeouts- 179 (30th)
Slugging %- 0.347 (30th)
OBP- 0.274 (30th)
ERA- 3.17 (2nd)
Hits Allowed- 215 (23rd)
Runs Allowed- 91 (9th)
Earned Runs- 81 (7th)
HR Allowed- 17 (1st)
Walks Allowed- 41 (1st)
Strikeouts- 151 (16th)
As you can see, my offense is putrid and outside of triples I cant do anything. I might just bite the bullet and move power up, even though apparently everyone else is wanting to move it down, as I cant stand to watch guys like Darwin Barney or Omar Infante take pitches off the outside of the plate and pull them for homeruns while Matt Kemp rips one only to watch it die at the wall, really irritating.Comment

Well I played a game with these at HOF with timing hitting and got rocked 7-1. I managed a run on 8 hits but had 3 errors haven't done that before.Comment

Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
Im in the same boat and to be honest Im about to just shelve the game for good if I cant figure this out. I tried raising power but then the game turned into a ridiculous HR derby. On another note, I dont know what it is that can fix it but the triples in the game are beyond insane, Ive got 16 triples in 24 games and that seems extremely high. Here are my stats through 24 games with these sliders...
Batting Average- 0.215 (30th)
Runs- 74 (29th)
Hits- 178 (30th)
Doubles- 35 (21st)
Triples- 16 (1st, +8 over Boston in 2nd)
Home Runs- 14 (30th)

OBP- 0.274 (30th)
ERA- 3.17 (2nd)
Hits Allowed- 215 (23rd)
Runs Allowed- 91 (9th)
Earned Runs- 81 (7th)

Walks Allowed- 41 (1st)

Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
Yeah, Im trying out a slightly different setup with Contact at 5, Power at 5 and Timing at 6 and it seems to be working so far. Im still striking out, 7 times in 4 innings in fact, but I hit a laser out on a hanging curve with Kemp and I just feel like I can smash a pitch now more then before. I dont know if whose roster set we use would make a difference but its night and day in just the feel of it. In terms of pitching, I might agree but then I gave up 12 runs to Florida in my last game so I dont think Im ready to move up quite yet.Comment

41 BB through 24 games is on pace to beat the MLB record held since 1904, and they played 8 less games!
It's always easy to tell by stats when a guy needs to either make pitching harder or go up a level, and that's when there's a significant disparity in H:9, ERA, and BB:9. In your case you're surrendering 9 hits a game, but allowing 3 runs and less than 2 BB. This means that you can probably pitch to contact against your opponent all game and not worry about the consequences.
If I were you, I'd give HOF pitching a try or at the very least drop down you Control and Consistency to 4.
Just some brain droppings from an admirer of Bill James. Take what you will. I think a lot of guys would really dig HOF Pitching if they tried it. You never have that 'Man, why won't the CPU score on me?' thought.Comment

Re: TNK & PsychoBulk ***The Perfect Slider Set 2011 Edition***
just finished a 20 inning game. No that's not a typo. 0-0 and the D-Backs finally hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 20th Inning to beat me 1-0. The announcer said the game went 3 hours and 57 min. This is my 7th game of the season and 2nd time I've went extras. Earlier I went 14 with the Astros? Anyways, here are my team stats...
3-8, 5-6, 1-3, 1-4, 1-4, 0-1 are my scores. Mine are the lesser scores obviously.
Batting Avg. .220 (24th)
Runs 11 (30th)
Hits 56 (13th)
Doubles 10 (T-12th)
Triples 0 (T-14th)
Home-Runs 4 (T-24th)
Stolen Bases 8 (T-1st) -my 1 great stat thanks to Johnny Damon
BB 7 (T-29th) - I can't tell strikes from balls
Strikeouts 62 (30th) ^^
Slug PCT .306 (30th)
OBP .240 (30th)
Total Bases 78 (18th)
GIDP 5 (T-22nd)
Errors 9 (30th)
*PITCHING*
ERA 2.67 (4th)
Hits Allowed 62 (27th)
Runs Allowed 26 (T-20th)
HR Allowed 3 (T-1st)
BB Allowed 11 (1st)
Strikeouts 52 (T-3rd)
If I were to look at the stats of my opponents against me, I think I'd find the same thing. CPU & I both get hits but are having trouble scoring runs. Strikeouts for and against are probably equal (WAY too many strikeouts on both sides). These sliders are definitely flawed when the CPU is struggling in the exact same areas I am.
I'm going to go work on a better slider set.
Peace.Comment
