And that is the bare minimum. I really like to see at least 40-50 games to determine if my skill level needs to be amped up a notch (going from All-Star to HOF) or if a couple of slider tweaks and/or change in approach is all I need.

A perfect example is pitching. I really mastered Classic pitching with the ball marker, so last season I shut it off.

Yet still, I felt Like it was too easy on 17, so I took JoshC1977's suggestion of turning off controller vibration and took another OS members suggestion of lowering Human consistency and control.

And boom. The game feels amazing and balanced for me.

But this was after literally hundreds of games played on ball marker and vibration on (playing on 16). The random samples you can get in baseball is mind boggling.

I was watching your stream from this morning. You are so incredibly patient batting. There was so many pitches I was like "yep I would have swung" lol. So thank you for streaming so I can better teach myself that just because it's a hittable pitch, doesn't mean I have to swing.

I have been a MoM player for so long because at 44 and having broke my hand, I just don't have the stick skills anymore. Your set and watching you play really made me want to actually play. Great set.

Ahhhh thank you very much man.

Yeah....that is my real life baseball habits kicking in there. In hitters counts which are:

        0-0
        1-0
        2-0
        2-1
        3-1
        3-0

I am looking for one pitch in one spot. Period.

Now....I will sometimes swing at a pitch I should not have...that's human error and we are humans and we make mistakes reading a pitch out of the pitchers hands some times. But yes, for the most part I am a very patient hitter and trust my skills enough to be a good 2 strike hitter if I indeed do take a couple of crappy strikes.

When I am slumping, it is because I am not working counts and free swinging, or I run into a red hot pitching team, or maybe my team is ice cold for a week or 2?

Sometimes you have to tip your cap to the opposing pitcher for not giving in to you and making you get weak contact on pitches down, down and away, up and in and also flat out jamming you on the hands.

Using the contact swing in 0-2, 1-2 counts (and also 2-2, 3-2 with weak hitters) helps a lot in fouling off and ruining good pitchers strikes. Then it is a game of chicken. Are you going to give in and challenge me and give me that weak *** **** for me to groove? Or blow it by me for a big K or a weak pop up/grounder?

I love this game. Baseball is amazing.

OT a little bit, but I was getting up at 3am to watch the WBC. I love baseball
and my wife is a huge fan. She played fastpitch softball back in the day. Whenever we travel, we google minor league ballparks and will plan accordingly.

I've always used the X button to swing. So if I'm behind on the count, do you recommend switching to contact if it's a questionable pitch or fall behind in the count and switch to contact till you fight back, get a hit, SO, BB etc?

I loved baseball. Grew up watching the Braves on tbs with my grandfather. Then I fell in love with football and didn't pay much attention to baseball. Last 5 years however, I've transitioned back to baseball as the football world just isn't what it use to be. Now I watch all 162 games of my hometown Indians (yes, always been a fan. Not just bc they went to the WS) and try to catch as many Braves games for my mom as I can. Nothing greater then being able to chat for hours with your mom about baseball. Oh my goodness.

So anytime you are in the following counts I want you to use the contact swing button (circle)

              0-2
              1-2
              2-2 (with weaker hitters)
              3-2 (with weaker hitters)

Also with pitchers always swing with contact regardless of counts.

Also use contact swing in conjuntion with directional hitting for this situation.

Runner on 3rd less than 2 outs contact swing while pressing Left stick at 12 o'clock position to induce a sacrifice fly.

Try this out, get used to it and then we can talk about more directional hitting strategies.

Next time I stream and you are watching I will give you some examples of situational hitting with the contact swing, normal swing and power swing.

To me, this is the great fun of this game. When I do well, I take every pitch seriously and have a plan at the plate. When I do poorly, I throw at-bats away by first-pitch swinging or by swinging in non-hitter-friendly counts.

I typically find that if I'm not getting any offense, it's often because I'm throwing away key at-bats.

I hate hitting against that knuckleball throwing SOB. He owns my soul. I never hit that guy (well one time on 15 I lit him up).

Here is a hitting rule for all of you when it comes to Knuckleballers.

When it comes out high....let it fly

Comes out low let it go.

Same goes for breaking balls and sliders as well as changeups. Easy to remember.....a lifetime of effort to execute.

                      Hit the cages boys.

To elaborate on what Armor said, as I like to consider myself very patient as well, my goal is to get the CPU's starter to 100 pitches by the end of the 6th. If I can do that, regardless of the score, I feel like I have always given myself a chance to win. Obviously, it doesn't always happen that way. There are times when its 2-0 or 3-0, and I'm up in the count and I literally put the controller on the floor so as to not swing, regardless if the pitch is a meatball or not. But if I can get to their bullpen, other than the closer, I feel I'm always in striking distance!

I do something similar. I try to get the CPU starter to make 15 pitches an inning, which would be 90 for 6 innings. Obviously there are innings where I only see 8 or 9 if the pitcher is pounding the strike zone, but other times I can get him over 20 sometimes up to 25-30.
