Re: Mike Lowe MLB The Show '17 Sliders

Mike, just caught a bit of the stream you did yesterday. About to start my Braves franchise. Based on the first set of games I played on my test, I am going to lower CPU control to 4 just to make my offense a TOUCH easier. Also, I think I am going to raise CPU timing as I agree, CPU offense didn't feel that threatening previously, and there seemed to be a TON of bad swing and miss strikes way off the plate (felt like me facing that slider/changeup against a guy with a live fastball). Interested in your thoughts...

Don't be so quick to change the AI hitting. They hit .391 on balls in play against me on opening day, and I struck them out just 7 times. They actually swung and missed about 17% of their swings, a bit under the average. If you start tweaking the other way, that could be a consistent issue.

For me, the "issue" mostly stemmed from my starter (Volquez) not being a huge K guy.

And lowering AI control--that's one of the areas the game has done a solid job of on default. Even Scherzer (who was a bit rough in the first two innings) threw less than 60% strikes, which is very low for a guy like him (traditional ace). I would say, REALLY focus on your plate discipline and pitch recognition. It's the most important part of hitting, by far.

Understand your points, no real trouble working good hitter counts and walks (can't walk anyone for love nor money, but that's a separate issue!) I think just having trouble getting hits (I think my babip was low but don't know for sure). So wanted to find a way to increase my offense slightly without hindering k's etc...

So other options I thought of were timing or contact. Don't want to mess with power too much (obviously) so...

In that case, if you feel you want to make a change, I'd just bump up the solid hits (or whatever its' called) slider. That should result in more hits without messing with too much else.

Thanks Mike. Will keep as is for first few games of my braves franchise and will take a view after the first week or so

For a little perspective, Miguel Cabrera started the MLB season 0-12. We might be wanting to adjust a slider at that point, but it's still very early (he had two hits yesterday).

Sorry Mike, one last thing, are you seeing too many HBPs/WPs with the super low consistency? I know we see far too little normally, but I think three HBPs and I think another couple of WPs in your stream...any intention to up it a click at any stage?

I'm noticing that if we just move any long reliever back into the bottom of the regular bullpen section, we won't see those guys eating up 3, 4, 5 innings.

You'll have to check every day though, as on auto teams will adjust someone back into that role once they've had a need for it.

Only takes about 20 seconds to adjust each calendar day, and is a much better workaround than continually rotating someone there each month. Too much to keep track of!

That is only if you control all 30 teams right?

I agree. Made two small tweaks just now to give us v1.5:

Human Timing +1 to 4 for zone
                          CPU consistency +1 to 2

Well, we almost got no-hit by Strasburg, but rallied to tie the game at 2-2 in the 8th on a Ozuna 2-run HR. We lost in the 9th 3-2.

2nd game the Nationals had a BABIP of .390+ (.393)
                            Nats foul balls 12%
                            Nats swings 24% misses

                            Marlins BABIP .053 lol
                            Marlins foul balls 15%
                            Marlins swings 33% misses

Couldn't do much, but confident that's more to do w Strasburg than sliders.

Thoughts? We could up either contact or solid hits for users, but curious what other's are getting for BABIP first. I faced two very tough SP, and lost both games by 1 run. Don't want to overreact to anything.

Here's a link to the manager hook working perfectly

First, that's a very cheesy way to break up the no-hit bid. Lol.

But I've played 3 games so far and am having trouble scoring runs and so is the CPU.

Scores are 3-2, 3-0, 3-2. All three wins for me.

I have no idea where to find BABIP but I can share those with you if you point me in the right direction.

Forgot to mention that the first game went into 12 innings and the last game I walked off in the 9th with a single, SB, and then another single.
