Okay I just played a game against the Cardinals and I was the Nationals and won 2-0. A couple observations...

1-Pujols definetly was taking balls more than anyone else. I got up to 2 balls in the count each time I faced him. I was just barely throwing balls against Pujols that were very close that other batters definitely would have swung at.

2-Slugging % is through the roof. Now this is very unrealistic BUT it does keep the game moving along nicely and the high slugging percentage does NOT equate to high batting average. Basically what they have done is make everyone swing happy which leads to quicker outs rather than going through a full pitch count to get an out.

I honestly believe you got to be willing to give a little here unless you want 3 hour games so you can have realistic pitch counts and more walks.

I honestly believe the game plays just fine the way it is.

Good Job Joe and Syf!

I was tinkering around before I went to bed last night and tried jacking up some of the walk ratings in the roster, but it didn't seem to change a thing in terms of aggression. It's good to see that others are on the same track and that 2K is aware of this problem. Man, I hope they fix this ASAP.

No it doesn't. Even 2K7 and 2K8 played better in terms of AI batting aggression. There's definitely a problem here.

Judging by how the mods at 2k handle complaints against the game (i.e. "Once sliders are tweaked this issue will resolve itself"), I wonder how ticked off the developers are whenever they released that THEY screwed something up that can't be fixed by the slider workhorses!

There is no doubt that players do take balls. Even some that are close. The problem is players don't work the count. I understand people may not want 2-3 hour games, but I'm pretty sure there are people who also don't want unrealistic Pitching Stat because a starter only gets 35-40 pitches in a start either

Like I said before, Pujols definitely stood out and was getting up to 2 balls at every at bat against me, something in the game is working in this department.

The only problem I see is Pujols is an extreme example at the highest level for walks and to get what people are looking for you're going to have to make his stats or attributes the norm for everybody and make people like Pujols even higher.

Honestly I could care less about the walks. But I'd like to get strikeouts without having to throw a curveball for 2 of the 3 strikes, and to actually get people to take strikes while looking. It does happen, just seems to be a bit off.

Pujols is even the best player in this game. It seems that there must be some aggression variable somewhere in the game. If you look at the IE reports for players from the main menu (not the in game menu), you can see their aggression based on a pitch count, but a lot of them are really high. Maybe if there was a way to lower those values, we could "solve" this issue.

Closed at 2K, but stickied here. Just goes to show how much more in tune with reality the community is here. I guess to be fair though, the mod at 2K did say the devs are aware and working on it, but it's pretty lame of the mod to close it so that the thread just gets buried over there.

Interesting that the mod only mentioned there's a fix being worked on when the problem was recognized by the community. Why didn't they just tell us this from the get-go so we know this is getting fixed on. Same with the franchise bug. I think they only start to work on a fix when we realize these things.

The 2k board is a joke, always has been. The APF forum became nothing but cheese infested.

Then to make matter worse, the mods run the 2k boards very poorly. Either you agree with everything like a sheep or your thread will wind up missing.

I am a HUGE 2K fan but their mods and forum are flat out one of the worse on the net when it comes to gaming.
