Make sure you turn on the release timing affect in the controls menu (under options). Assuming you are using total control pitching, this option (name may be different, I am not looking at the screen) affects the control of the pitch in conjunction with sliders, for the human player.

On the PC version it is default "OFF", and my first game was pretty easy even with ALL-Star level sliders, I could place every pitch with precision. I read some info here and found where I could turn it "ON" and I started throwing some pretty wild pitches when I messed up the right analog stick on a pitch, particularly breaking pitches.

After getting this setting right and with strike zone off I actually walked a couple of CPU batters and had a decent pitch count considering the hit count was low (75 pitches in 6 innings, 2 walks, 5 hits).

is 2k aware that the AI also has an incredibly hard time hitting the curveball? its a money pitch.

just use beckett, and pitch 50 curveballs in a row...50 bad swings and misses in row. I then turned the "break influence" pitching slider to 0 and "pitch rating" influence to 0 and still can get a swinging strike anytime I want with a curveball if I mix it with other pitches. its BRUTAL.

I understand becketts 12-6 is especially nasty, but not if you see it 10 times in a row, and not when the sliders are at 0 making it as average as any other pitch.

I then tried it with my worst pitchers I could find and still had success.

I hope its tied into the broken free swing AI, because this issue needs serious fixing too!

I also agree with the posters saying pitch control is waaaay too easy again too, this compounds the problem.

I really would pay another $50 just to get all the 2k8 AI pithcing/hitting sliders back....you could get the AI to do exactly what you wanted in that game...(except steal )

If that is the case, they have to test the patch and send it to MS for certification. That process takes a few weeks.

I would say, if we are lucky, a patch around opening day would be the target.

I don't know if it's different rules with EA football games, but that is what the EA reps explained to OS.
I would just like to hear official word from 2k that they are aware of this issue (others, too) and plan to patch it. That would be enough for me to buy the game. Unless I know for sure they're going to try to fix it, I'll pass on the game.

And if they do put out another patch, I have no problem waiting a while for it. Just make sure it's done right.
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

This is great news. I've been getting hit by the CPU, but I haven't been walking anyone unless I've intended to do so. I'll give this a shot tonight.

Nice reminder, i just changed my settings, and i had Liriano at 80 pitches thru 5 innings as i was going against the White Sox.

I know it's not as simple as redrawing the strike zone to fix batter aggressiveness, but just imagine that the box they give you is a ball's length wider and you'll see improvements in CPU taking pitches, and I many of them will be strikes.
I think there really may be something to this. If you slowly push the ball icon out of the strike zone, it doesn't rumble until it's well off the plate. Forgive me if wrong, but in past years, didn't it rumble right when you hit the line between ball and strike?

                I understand how how feel.

I'm just going by a respected mod at 2k sports who also post over here and in this thread.

No clue, i was just told, that they are aware and are working on fixing this asap. Thats what i was told.

Otherwise, you might not know what is being fixed until the patch arrives. There are some companies that will let us know what is being fixed before the patch arrives.

Same here! I also want to be sure the PS3 version gets the patch fix as well before I purchase. If they only patch the 360 game I'll be seriously pissed.

Same here! I'm sick of 2K treating us like mushrooms: keeping us in the dark and feeding us ****!

If they can fix this issue (and a few others), this game would be much better.

I wouldnt hold my breath on this getting fixed. The AI stealing base issue was supposed to get fixed last year and it never happened.

There was also a different developer last year, Kush Games I believe. This year Visual Concepts developed the game, and I expect more from them being that they are 2k and Take-Two's major "go-to" sports development house.

This is on VC right now, to come through and give the buyers some fixes for 2K9. What's done is done (2k8) and this year will be a huge opportunity and a huge chance to fail depending on how they handle the patch situation. A major reason I bought this game was because VC was brought in as the developer.

That's great news bigfnjoe. I know that of all of the current sports developers right now, I trust Visual Concepts the most, due to their stellar track record in the past and the level of dedication they have shown in the products they make.

Awesome. Hopefully the fix doesn't break something else, or end up making the AI never swing. That would be even worse.
