The way I see it, all Classic hitting does is have the cpu decide for you whether you are going to use Power, Contact, or defensive swing depending on the situation. Since they've tuned what situations it uses what a lot better this year, I don't think it should make too much difference which you use.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
it scares me how close these sliders are to real life...
had a MLB today game white sox vs mariners (me). Lost 2-1. In real life today they lost 3-1. Danks (in game) had 7.1 ip with 5 SO. IRL he had 7.1 IP with 6 SO. Konerko homered in game and IRL.
Not slider based but crain and santos came in and they also came in at the exact time and length in tonights real life game...

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
my country for an injury/dl time bug and check swing fix patch!!!!!!
otherwise, everytime I play The Show I end up frustrated, and I turn to 2k to console me and whisper sweet self esteem raising things in my ear. I use these sliders (modified slightly to fit my taste/skills) and have been having awesome games.
Fun side fact: can't hit a lick in MLB 11 right now, and REALLLLLY can't hit with Colvin on my Cubs. In my 2k11 franchise, I'm an absolute MONSTER with Colvin, he leads the team in HR's and RBI's after the first couple weeks. (ironically enough, playing 1B because Pena is down for another week as is Castro) So I'll have some defensive juggling to do when they come back. But he's fast becoming my cleanup hitter. You do what you want in your association, don't let others ruin the fun. Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
I have to give it up to MK. These sliders are incredible. Being a veteran of The Show and being frustrated with how detached the user feels from the hitting mechanic, these sliders really do recall the old days of the High Heat Baseball series.
For the first time in years, videogame baseball is fun for me again. Yes, The Show undoubtedly captures the "little things" elements better than 2k11 (sans the now bland commentary), but 2k11 has a more fun gameplay experience IMO, thanks to these sliders, than The Show.Comment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
Thanks, guys. Appreciate your kind feedback. This is the most fun I've had playing a baseball game in years... Collectively we nailed them this year and it didn't take another two months. Thanks a bunch!STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
I'm not sure it's the sliders, probably more the engine. But to expand on what Daniel said. I too feel detached hitting in the Show. It's as if I'm always going for "perfect" timing no matter what I want to do with it, or if the pitch is outside or inside.
When I play 2k with MK's sliders, I feel like I turned on an inside fastball and crush it down the line (or in Colvin's case about 30 rows back :P ) or I sat on an off-speed pitch and drove it the other way swinging late, where in the Show usually results in "weak" contact, and possibly it being pulled (it just seems like pulling and going the other way in The Show is up to the AI and not your input at times)
And I can't read pitches like I can in 2k (thank you batters eye, and batters eye slider!!)You do what you want in your association, don't let others ruin the fun. Just because other people say it's cheap doesn't mean you have to let it affect your association, just have fun - Evan_OSComment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
I don't get the inputting the sliders from ALL-STAR difficulty. Each time I do that and save it changes. I can only get them to save and stay that way when I do that under CUSTOM.

But if we could actually see what was being used in classic, I would love it. It would be a real eye opener on what 2K wa trying to tune their game for.
By the way, I have used the classic a bit lately, and it is pretty good.Comment

In 2k11 (with these sliders), if you nail the timing on a pitch that's out over the plate, you're going to at least make solid contact.
Also, the late game AI on The Show cheats, which makes you want to throw the controller through the TV set. At least in 2k11, if you give up a lead late you can relate it to making a mistake, not so with The Show IMO.Comment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
I know this is a pretty newbie question, but I'm trying classic hitting for the first time - is there power swinging with classic? Or any way to swing for the fences? Or is it all pure contact swings?Comment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
Never mind, sliders aren't doing it for me...pitched as David Price and gave up about 9 hits in 4 innings with no hit variety and I don't like not being able to power swingThank you though!

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
You should give it more than one game before giving up. Even in real life, David Price gets tagged every now and then, show a little patience, learn how to play the game--rather than knock these sliders, maybe you should just admit that these are probably a little too advanced for your skill right now.Comment
