Re: The Biogenesis/Suspension thread
I can't imagine Alex Rodriguez gets a lifetime ban.
No chance in hell.Comment

Why would he? Repeat offender, but there's protocol in place for that.
I think it's just people putting this out there because no one likes him.

I could see that being fair grounds for a pretty substantial ban. At this point, he's 37, 38 anyway, any lengthy ban is gonna be a significant chunk of the remainder of his career. Why not go out with a bang?!
But this leads me to this question: didn't Melky Cabrera and/or his people create a fake website to throw off MLB? There's a difference here but the intent is similar.

Re: The Biogenesis/Suspension thread
Forgot about the people he hired to obstruct.
I don't see the lifetime ban happening BUT it's no longer in "no chance in hell" territory.
I think he gets suspended through the 2014 season. With his age and injuries, that may as well be a career-ending suspension anyway.
I'm so ready for this crap to be over. I guess it's about accumulating evidence but this "trickling out" stuff is infuriating.Comment

Re: The Biogenesis/Suspension thread
Ryan Braun is an absolute dirtball for his arrogance in beating that first "charge". The way he arrogantly handled himself made me want to vomit.
This happens and he gives a BS statement.
In the end it doesn't even matter. He cheated and still gets all that money. I'm just jealous. He has ZERO integrity but does it really matter at the end of the day? Nope he's living the good life.SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: The Biogenesis/Suspension thread
Former SI writer and current TSN employee Michael Farber was on the radio this afternoon talking about this. He believes this is Selig's way of changing his legacy from the guy who overlooked roids in '98 to someone who is trying to help the game today but the bigger thing he spoke of is that this isn't even the beginning of the end of the steroid era. He notes that there needs to be a tangible punishment like making the suspensions be with pay or to even go so far as to make the player's contract void with the team he's on. It's those kind of penalties that will REALLY make players think twice about cheating with a blatant disregard for whatever punishment they'll receive.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: The Biogenesis/Suspension thread
I have a question: Why would Selig and the MLB "settle" with Braun for 65 games if they had all this dirt and evidence on him. We know Braun is guilty b/c he accepted the suspension. But what leverage did he have to cause MLB to "make a deal" with him? If I'm MLB, I throw 100 games at him or more and if he wants to appeal, let him. What good would his appeal do him if I got tons of evidence? What is MLB hiding and why is no one asking/talking about this aspect of the story?Unofficial OS Ambassador of "CPU vs. CPU"

Robs the players association of leverage in appealing any of the suspensions when the most prominent of the cheaters tucks his tail between his legs and agrees to go down without a fight.Comment
