Yeah the Giants will be getting Randy Messenger. Here's what rotoworld says.

The Giants will get Randy Messenger from the Marlins in return for Armando Benitez, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
We like this better for Florida than the idea of giving up a quality prospect. The 25-year-old Messenger has a 2.66 ERA this season, but he's allowed 27 hits, walked nine and struck out 12 in 23 2/3 innings. In his career, he has a 4.98 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP in 121 innings.

Well I hope yesterdays game is a sign of what our June will be like Morris dominated on both sides only giving up 1 hit and then having 3 hits himself. That poor Philly bullpen was demolished. Today should be better for them as they have their stud Hamels going.

I'd like to see how Lincecum pitches today. Last time he faced the Phillies they tagged him for 4 runs. I believe it was his first start in the bigs then and it seems now he's found a his groove. GO GIANTS!!!

Mistake here mistake there.. 4HR's later it's all over. The way Molina reacted after the go-ahead HR by Howard said it all. Honestly I don't know why you would try to climb the strikezone against Howard when Taschner doesn't have the fastball to get away with anything in the first place. Molina should know who's on the mound and the situation. The mistake ended up to be right down the pipe making it batting practice for Howard. If this team can't beat the Phillies... bad news the rest of the way

I was wondering the same thing. A high fastball to Howard? That's a gimme.

Looks like our 5-8 hitters did most of the damage today going a combined 10-18. Bonds continues to struggle going 0-4. I think he's pressing at the plate and jumping at balls instead of letting them come to him. Hopefully he can get going sometime soon. Zito puts up his third consecutive solid start as we manage to split the series with the Phillies.

Ah yeah.. Matt Cain - what can I say? The guy simply cannot consistantly put the ball in the strikezone. He hasn't been able to do so all season, but now he's extremly hitable whereas his first 5 or so starts he wasn't. 40 walks in 12 starts is not acceptable regardless of how good his stuff is. He may be getting away with it somewhat at the moment, but if he doesn't improve in the next few years, I just don't see him ever reaching the potential of being a front of the line starter. I think he's too caught up on wanting to strike guys out causing him to nibble the corners, then again.. maybe not. His strikeout numbers are down as well. Cain kinda reminds me of Daniel Cabrera.. both can be dominant, but both walk an excessive amount of batters.

Right, how old is Matt Cain? lol I think I would give him a couple of years, before I right him off. Also, even when he is not on he still gets the outs. So I will take that, the other thing hope he can work though.

Yeah, he still is only 22. I guess I just expect too much after what I've seen what he can do. Not writing him off, simply ranting about how unless he improves his walk rate, he's not going to become an 'ace'

We have officially reached last place. I don't know what exactly we are doing, but Morris has easily been our most consistant player this year while eating up innings along the way. He dropped his ERA to 2.51. It's too bad we didn't trade Benitez for Petit to begin the season. It really is amazing how much Arizona is stockloaded with talent.

Morris did pitch one helluva game that night against Webb. AGAIN there was no offensive support from our guys. At least the Giants were able to win one at Arizona before coming home to face the A's tonight. It looks like Lincecum will be on the hill tonight. I've got tickets to tonights game and I'm pretty pumped to watch this guy live.

Yeah.. we are bad. Too bad I missed seeing Lowry play RF, Winn at 3rd and Feliz at catcher, that must've been a fun time. Oh and Haren is a beast, so far a legit Cy Young candidate. What a deal the A's made to get him there a few years back.

The Giants have lost 11 of Cain's 13 starts. He's given up 3 or fewer runs 10 of the 13 starts and gone less than 6 innings twice. He doesn't get to save pitches and often works himself out of the game because he HAS to nibble. A run scored against him basically means a loss. No runs scored without a complete game? That would mean a no decision. Our offense is absolutely horrendous. If Kansas City can put up 17 in one game we should be able to score at least one run somewhere.. maybe not?
