more bull**** from this offense...how many times can our staff give up less than 4 runs and still lose?

Somebody needs to get in Kosuke's ear...he looks ****ing ********. Just tell him to pull the damned ball.

Lee is still taking meat over the middle of the plate and swinging at **** out of the zone. Why in the hell is Lee trying to hit breaking balls low and off the plate? At this point, someone should tell him and ARam to only look for hard stuff middle in and don't swing at anything else. I dont care if they strike out, I would rather see some better discipline than another ****ing middle-of-the-order double play. These two guys are so mutually destructive; anytime one is off, the other sucks, too...and that is a recipe for disaster.

It has gotten to the point that I don't want anyone at bat when we need hit...who do you turn to? Seriously, I hope to see Edmonds more than anyone except Theriot.

For the record...if anyone comes in to this forum to bitch about Marquis's less-than-decent performance today, that person should be called out...

the fact of the matter is that the Cubs should not count on their 5th starter, they should lose some of his games. So what if Marquis gets torched? When our first 4 starters are giving up less than 3 runs, we should be winning...our hitters need to be whipped, and Lou is sitting back and not doing **** as the best hope in a century falls apart.

EDIT: w00t!!!!! what timing! Cubs rally to take 3-run lead on a bases loaded double by...Fontenot.

That was a pretty exciting ending, I wasn't home for the first 6, but got back in time to see the 7th inning, it was a great comeback.

          Cubs vs. Brewers overview

          July 28, 2008

          ON DECKCUBS AT BREWERS
          Tonight: 7:05, CSN, 720-AM. Ted Lilly (10-6, 4.49 ERA) vs. CC Sabathia (4-0, 1.36).

          Tuesday: 7:05 p.m., Ch. 9, 720-AM. Carlos Zambrano (11-4, 2.96) vs. Ben Sheets (10-3, 2.87).

          Wednesday: 7:05 p.m., CSN, ESPN, 720-AM. Ryan Dempster (11-4, 2.99) vs. Manny Parra (9-3, 3.72).

          Thursday: 1:05 p.m., Ch. 9, 720-AM. Rich Harden (0-1, 1.04) vs. Dave Bush (5-8, 4.51).

The story line: Their first trip of the year to Miller Park will be intense for the Cubs. Lilly has a better road ERA (3.84) than home ERA (5.34) and has won his last three road decisions. He has allowed two or fewer runs in five of his last six road starts dating to June 4. Sabathia has tossed three consecutive complete games. Ryan Braun ranks third in the league in home runs, and the Brewers as a team rank third in the league in homers.

          THREE KEYS FOR CUBS
          1. Rev up the offense. A hitting slump has weighed down the Cubs' record since the All-Star break, but their 9-6 comeback victory Sunday against the Marlins seemed to energize the team. The Cubs' bats have to stay hot to counter the power in the Brewers' lineup.

          2. Stay hot against lefties. The Cubs will face two in the series, CC Sabathia and Manny Parra. The Cubs are 19-11 against left-handed starters. Sabathia will be an unknown to most of the team, but Aramis Ramirez (3-for-7), Mark DeRosa (1-for-3), Henry Blanco (2-for-5) and Alfonso Soriano (8-for-25) have faced him before.

          3. Get to the Brewers' bullpen. Sabathia has thrown three complete games, but when the Brewers get in trouble, it's usually because teams have gotten to their relievers. Salomon Torres has been an effective closer since taking over for Eric Gagne, but the Cubs' bullpen has been more reliable overall.

          Big series tonight fellas.

I think we'll lose game one. Game two I'd like to win. I like our chances in the last two.

Thing is, Bob Howry could lose all four of these games, so who knows?

                  Well now we're ****ed.

Anyway, Howry sucks. I just thought I'd throw that in there.

                    Re: 2008 Chicago Cubs

if Zambrano can beat Sheets tomorrow...the Cubs would have a great chance at a 4 game sweep.

I hope Lee keeps it going...when he is covering the whole plate, he hits really well. I like that he is the kind of hitter that is more than willing to go opposite field. It makes it harder for pitchers to pitch around him, and means more mistakes will be left over the plate to be pulled.

I hope Lou starts using the pen a little smarter. Sometimes the situation dictates what one does, but Howry just can't be allowed to take the mound in tight games. It seems that we rarely see Eyre, Cotts or anyone other than Howry and Marmol. Gaudin is getting more and more time. Lou has to spread the work around a bit more, though.

Good win tonight. But yeah, enough with Howry already. Virtually every time he goes out there he gives up a long ball. He has a 5.29 ERA and it's almost August. Enough is enough.

But Lou keeps trotting him out there. **** I don't even want to go to the playoffs knowing this turd is on the roster. He had the stuff that makes painful, life long playoff memories. Please someone give him Kerry Wood's injury history!

                            Another Cubs win over Milwaukee.

I'm very happy with the way these first 2 games have gone. I would've taken a split but beating both Sabathia and Sheets is just icing on the cake. What the hell is up with Milwaukee's defense? The plays in the outfield by Braun and Hart were just awful.

Let's hope the Cubs keep it going tonight. Dempster vs. Parra is the pitching matchup tonight. Man these games are awesome and definitely feel like the playoffs.

Oh yeah...I almost forgot one thing. Howry sucks!

Good Stuff, what a difference a couple of days make. Last week the Brewers looked like a Juggernaut and it seemed like we would be overtaken. But look now a four game lead and they have beaten their two aces and on the road.

What can you say about Dempster he just goes out there and gets the job done. I was against him starting but I am glad he has proved me wrong. The offense seems to be back and I love the patience at the plate, clog those bases. Hopefully they can get Harden the win he deserves. Let's go get them tomorrow and get the sweep.
