Agreed. He is pure gasoline. Every time he comes in you can pretty much book it that he's giving up some runs. I think he's given up 60 hits now in 48 innings pitched. He's atrocious!

Does anyone else hate that stupid nonchalant look on his face? He looks like he's in a trance all the time.

Next up the Marlins who have pretty much owned the Cubs recently. Hopefully playing at Wrigley will wake these guys up.

      Re: 2008 Chicago Cubs

for many reasons, most of them very valid...we can be a bit pessimistic around here. I do not exclude myself. I think I bitch more than anyone else.

That being said...I will try to post positive things when they arise. If there is any point to being a fan, it is to hope that all your positive energy will work its way into the bats and gloves...and manager's head.

      So....

      ARam, 2-4 with 2rbis...Soriano went 1-3.

Blanco...for the last guy on the roster (more or less), he has a knack for coming up big.

Kudos to Pineilla for making very clear that the Starting Pitching is what is carrying this team...congratulate the starters, send a polite message to the offense.

Here's to Kosuke getting his batting helmet on right.

And a word for the wise...we will surely get Sabathia in this series coming up...the last time we faced a good lefty, it didn't go so well...I hope they turn it around.

Really? I haven't been following but that is good news.

Also, I really have a love-hate relationship with Marmol right now. One batter he's lights out and the next he can't come within a foot of the strike zone. It's so frustrating.

It was good to see Cedeno and Blanco step up and hit homeruns. And how fun is it to watch Zambrano hit? He had an RBI double last night.

Howry comes into a tie game and promptly gives up a bomb. Why does Lou continue to put him in crucial situations? He blows!

EDIT: Gives up a double to Hanley. He's effing brutal!!!!!!!!!!

I have no further comment on Howry. I'm just a stranger on an internet message board. My feelings have been pretty clear on him and people who are smarter than me seem to think he can pitch.

Sometimes it's easier to just avoid the game alltogether. This way, I wouldn't have seen that blown strike 3 call on Hermida in the 9th and the terrible pitch to Cantu in the 7th. The Cubs have been extremely frustrating to watch for quite a while now.

I don't know what to think about Howry right now. He wasn't so bad late last year.

It's like he is throwing steak up there. Dammit.

Yeah, that homerun he gave up to Hermida was right down the middle. I just hope he isn't used much anymore in meaningful situations, and I say much because I know they probably will still use him in meaningful situations.

Well, yeah. That's why I'm not as optimistic as some Cubs fans. But I was referring specifically to this season. There was a point this year when they were fun to watch. Right now, it's an exercise in agony and stress.

It's a marathon not a sprint, although I am disappointed in how the team has played. I did not expect them to keep the pace in which they were on. Just remember it's only July and every team no matter how good will have its struggles during the year.

At this point the Brewers are hot but they are bound to hit a four or five game losing streak. I know the frustration that many of us Cubs fans are feeling but I am not about to jump off a cliff just because they are struggling in July now if this continues into August and September then were in trouble. So for now a deep breath and remember they have Harden going tomorrow.

                                Go Cubs!!!
