Re: The 2009 New York Yankees
Looks like the roster is pretty much set. Bullpen is going to be Rivera, Bruney, Marte, Veras, Edwar, Coke, and Albaladejo. Only spot still up for grabs is utility IF which is between Angel Berroa and Ramiro Pena.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Looks like Sheppard is going to retire. Shame he's not going to be able to call a game in the new stadium.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

I can already see the back pages after the start of this game.
Half A Billion Busts!
Sabathia allows 6 runs as Teixiera goes 0-[4]."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. They'll find some way to blame the late inning collapse on Joba not being brought into the game because he's wasting away in the fifth spot of the rotation."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Didn't get to see the game today but caught it on the radio for the most part, seemed like CC's control was off."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

If there was one good thing to take away from this game is that Cano walked twice. I wonder if he's ever done that before?Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: The 2009 New York Yankees
its good to see other fellow yankees fans in here being able to calmly understand this situation. i was on a few other messageboards today and just like the papers will tomorrow they immediately jump to the "was the money worth it" remark and routine. its like give me a break its opening day, 1 game down and 161 more to go. some people its mind boggling how close minded they can be on one game the very first of the seasonMLB: Yankees

Re: The 2009 New York Yankees
It's not the end of the world, but every Yankee fan has to admit that they were extremely disappointed at today's performance from the two top FA's they signed. Teixeria seemed like he was totally out of the game from all of the boo's he was getting, which isn't a good sign, since he plays in Yankee stadium.Comment

Re: The 2009 New York Yankees
Tex and CC are notoriously slow starters. Just look at CC's April numbers last year and then the numbers he finished with. Not worried at all about him. Tex showed up defensively at least and I'm confident his bat will heat up with the weather too. It wasn't a pretty loss but I'm not overreacting to it.MLB: New York Yankees
NBA: New Jersey Nets
NFL: Detroit Lions / New York Giants

@ steelcurtain311
yes, he played at Yankee Stadium, but he's lived many years of his life in the Maryland area...and the intial reports...rightly or wrongly, had him weighing on signing with either the O's or Nats...
His reaction reminded me of the one A-Rod got when he went back to Texas....
I don't think even he expected the reacton to be that bad. Ironically, most times even when the O's fans express their dirpleasure...it's NEVER, EVER that loud or sustained....
