No matter which way you put that lineup together they are still a bottom three team in the AL, offensively speaking, along with Oakland and Minnesota. I doubt shuffling their lineup around would really matter much at this point. They just flat out don't have any bats.

That sir, is a lie. Sure most of our players aren't doing as well as we think they should be doing, but I feel like they're doing a lot frickin better than last year towards the start. They just need to get on a good streak and they'll be very good.Comment

Re: Seattle Mariners 2012 team thread
I like your lineup, Apostle. However, I do actually agree with Triunfel being brought up! The youth movement isn't getting any youth at short (Brendan Ryan's bat's gone sour, Kawasaki is an utility man) and would most likely benefit. That being said, it won't make the Mariners a playoff team, but the youth could create a push towards a .500 season, or maybe even 1 or 2 games above .500!
Oh, and btw, Shawn Kelley has been called up from Triple A and sent to the M's bullpen.Last edited by MarinersVsDodgers; 05-05-2012, 10:03 PM.Kemp for NL MVP

Re: Seattle Mariners 2012 team thread
I think running out Brendan Ryan (.146 BA) and Miguel Olivo on a routine basis is stupid at this point. I don't expect Olivo to mash but he goes on torrid cold streaks that just kill this offense and the same could be said for Ryan, but he's actually a worse hitter.
There's no equation or group of players, young or not, that will make the M's anything but a bottom of the barrel offense in the AL, but let's get the kids as many at-bats as we can. Like I said, it will be painful, but this is the direction set forth by management so get rid of the dead, older weight.Comment

I hope they bring up Triunfel. I don't think it would be a bad move in the least. I'd bet my house that they will never sniff .500 again this season, regardless of what they do with their current roster in respect to the organization's youth. Hope I'm wrong...Comment

Re: Seattle Mariners 2012 team thread
I would've liked to see Felix throw a cg shutout, because last night's game was probably one of the only opportunities he will have to throw one this season. I just was worried that the collapsible bullpen the M's have would give up another lead, like they have tended to do.Kemp for NL MVP

Re: Seattle Mariners 2012 team thread
This isn't MLB 12: The Show though, this is real life.
Sending a guy out there in the 9th inning with a 7 run lead who had already thrown 107 pitches is foolhardy.
Plus, he had already given up a base hit so it wasn't like him finishing the game would be some major feat anyway. Now, if he had a no hitter still going then that would be much different.Comment

Listening to the pregame show on ESPN radio today, Wedge had asked Felix if he wanted to pitch the ninth, and Felix said "I'm good." So it was Felix's decision...my bad.Kemp for NL MVP

Re: Seattle Mariners 2012 team thread
Not a bad week for Felix. 16 innings pitched, 6 hits, 1 run, 18 k's, and ONE line drive allowed. ONE. He faced 59 batters and gave up a single line drive. If you add the Detroit start before that, he's given up just 3 line drives in 23 innings and 85 batters faced. That's unreal.
BTW...Walker had another great performance yesterday for Jackson. As long as he stays healthy and continues a normal progression, we're going to have a 20 year old starter for the Mariners in the 2nd half of 2013.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Wish we could fast forward to 2013 to see the Jackson trio come up.Comment
