Blocks are ridiculous!
What you all don't realize is this will go one of three ways:
1.) The power to block stays mostly in the user's control (how it is now). You'll be back here complaining.
2.) The blocking is patched, which returns control back into the hands of the game. The numbers game comes into play, which means the system pits block ratings vs shot/layup/dunk ratings. If the offensive numbers win out through whatever calculations the game uses, then you get to deal with your limbs going straight through the ball. You'll be back here complaining. (NBA 2K11, 2K14)
3.) NBA 2K13 'blocking' returns, or lack thereof. Need I say anymore? You'll be back here complaining.
Remember, be careful what you wish for.
Edit: There can be a 4th option of disabling your button when you get into position, not allowing you to go for the block because your 'rating wasn't high enough to properly block the opponent's shot/layup/dunk.' You know, the whole 'Damn! I'm hitting block, but my dude didn't jump!' Oh, that'll be a real treat, lol.
Or the fifth option where a successful block calculation causes a block attempt that stops short of the ball and doesn't track it as well as a successful attempt. Aided by adjusting block animations so they don't rocket block with no respect to ratings or player physics especially from behind.
You know, the solution everyone actually wants and the developers are trying to shoot for. I don't see why we must exclude that and that we should prefer unrealistic blocking in a simulation game. I'd rather some occasional clipping by poor shot blockers than results that are closer to NBA Jam, and I'm willing to accept some occasional technical issues as long as the game plays realistically and moves towards a more authentic representation of basketball in physics, visual representation, and more realistic statistical and situational outcomes.
The latter cannot be sacrificed, especially if it causes unrealistic defenses and strategies when it is.Last edited by Sundown; 10-18-2015, 12:00 PM.Comment

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.
Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.Comment

Re: Blocks are ridiculous!
No online. I play online only, where guys just switching to the nearest defender when beaten and getting rewarded blocks by guys that don't even play defense. U probably never go online so maybe that's why u can't relate.Comment

Re: Blocks are ridiculous!
I do actually, but fortunately for me, I got a nice group of folks I run with so I don't ever have to worry about issues like this happening "ALL THE TIME"(some strong hyperbole)like you.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: Blocks are ridiculous!
I play online. I have videos on the forum of me playing online. Nothing resembling "all the time" is happening in those videos...
Honestly, of all the people who have posted their online videos, I've yet to see these things happening all the time...
If they were, we'd see a lot less complaints about transition defense if it was as easy as "pressing Y" and getting a block every time to defend the rim ....
What I have noticed though, is that the wonky blocks happen a lot more on the default setting, I had a Patty Mills chase down the other day, lol

Btw, clipping is NEVER acceptable, what the heck is wrong with you?Comment

Re: Blocks are ridiculous!
My problem is the preemptive blocks. Where the ball gets knocked out of your hands before you even attempt a shot. Can happen when guys jump towards you before you put the ball up and have their knees slap it, or if you attempt a layup or dunk while they are falling and the opposing player having the dexterity to slap the ball out of your hands.
I honestly don't even do layups/dunks at the rim anymore unless no one is around. Strictly floaters for me because it seems whoever is guarding you will very easily block your *** if you attempt anything around themComment

Thought this was funny. Cj Mccollum out here beating his chest like he doing something.
3 blocks on Trey Lyles within like 3 minutes.
Breakfest club Joe Budden interview is the audio.

Re: Blocks are ridiculous!
This is from a game I just played

Game was SS 12 minute quarters/default sliders with changes(nothing involving vertical or blocking). All in all I had 7 oppurtunities to actually get a chase down. I got 1 with Goatbrook, 2 with Durant and 1 with Andre Roberson. Then Durant got another one as well on a somewhat broken fastbreak. So I was 4/7 on attempts and 2 of the 3 I missed were simply because I flubbed switching to Serge instead of Westbrook and the last I was just slightly too far back with Westbrook to reach Arron.Last edited by Raider131; 10-18-2015, 04:30 PM.Comment

Re: Blocks are ridiculous!
It's beyond insane at this point. It don't matter who the player is, he's capable of sending it to the stands. Playing online and every layup/dunk is challenged by the nearest defender because everybody knows the chances of a block is very favorable. Guys is challenging every dunk attempt without fear of the and-1 and it's crazy because they won't call foul 80%of the time.Comment
