Re: Blocks are ridiculous!
I can provide examples too...
Watching the last episode of my boys 2K15 MyCareer....
His 5'8 PG just scored twice right on Dre Jordan...
One DJ jumped completely out of position going for a block on his layup
The other, the PG did a finger roll TOWARDS DJ, basically in his chest and he moves him back ward to score the layup...
Yeah.....I'm in complete agreement that blocking can be overdone....but I'm fighting tooth and nail not to go back to that ****. To flip Sundowns quote, y'all can turn blocks to 0 if it bothers you, lol

If its a choice between the occasional Muggsy Bogues snatch block and 2K15 no blocks, Im taking 2K16 all the way.Comment

Blocks are ridiculous!
I'd be ideal if they can patch in a middle ground until next year when they can build logic into the system....I'm all for that....
but watching that video just brought back memories, lol
EDIT: the struggle

Re: Blocks are ridiculous!
who else thinks it's complete bs that curry has a 3 star defensive rating in 2k16? if I'm a point guard in the league i would easily choose to have curry defending me over the likes of wall, westbrook, rose, CP3.........
on the current topic, you know the game is crazy when you're on a fast break with d rose and patty mills comes up from behind for the lebron chasedown into the stands...... the amount of missed dunks in this game due to "defensive effort" (no matter who the trailing defender is) is mind blowing..... give us our dunks and tone down the D 2k..Comment

Re: Blocks are ridiculous!
LOL at Westbrook or Rose being better PG defenders too. Seriously, athleticism doesn't equal defence. You may not believe me, but just try to watch more games without pre-conceived notions and see for yourself.Comment

Re: Blocks are ridiculous!
westbrook and rose arent top-of-their position defenders either but they're both physically strong and quick enough to stay with their man, and also put in reliable effort most of the time. i can't remember if i've ever seen an opposing PG have a career night against rose. but agreed athleticism by itself doesnt mean anything... nobody has ever said gerald green is a great defenderLast edited by jbl33333; 10-23-2015, 09:23 PM.Comment

Re: Blocks are ridiculous!
I actually watch quite a bit of most teams in the NBA, the warriors included... I mean curry's individual defense is alright but doesn't seem like anything to write home about... the warriors, as a team however, that defense is a whole other story. i'll have to watch curry more closely this season and see if theres something i was missing.

He's not without faults obviously. Off-ball, he can get caught in no mans land on several occasions. He won't commit to the driver, nor will he stretch out to guard the arc. There's also stretches where he fouls a lot, but he's cut down on that a bit. And as mentioned, his athleticism isn't a hinderance, but it caps his ceiling as merely an above-average on-ball defender.
Now, why do I think he's better than Westbrook and Rose? Westbrook is much more of a gambler. He relies on his athleticism too much, and that becomes worrisome as he can lose his man more often off-ball. Sure, he gets steals, but that doesn't mean he's playing good defence. Good defenders play within the scheme and themselves, and Westbrook can do that but doesn't do it consistently enough.
And as far as Rose, I've barely seen him recently, but I've noticed that his effort and his off-ball defence isn't that great at all. I don't rate him high.
Sure, you can debate his 3 stars, but honestly I'd have him in the top 10 overall as far as PG defence. Whether thats worth 3 stars is up to you.Comment

Rose has never been that great of a defender. Especially not now. Again, seems you're looking at athleticism and aesthetics over actual impact.
Curry is average-to-above average. But he weirdly WANTED to play defense and was actually held back by Jackson who hid him on non-threats. Curry applies his basketball IQ and instincts to be a pretty effective defender in a good defensive system, funneling his man to help. He's not a physical lock-down defender, but he gives a damn and is a notable plus in a team defensive scheme.
Of course there's no comparison with CP3 and Wall's better, but Westbrook and Rose haven't been as effective defenders (Westbrook is a negative on DRPM), despite both playing in good defensive systems.Last edited by Sundown; 10-24-2015, 03:36 AM.Comment

Re: Blocks are ridiculous!
I personally like the way they made blocking in this game, it actually requires you to make smart decision on offense instead of trying to poster everyone and their mother. To me, the strip ball in the paint is OP, I lose the ball countless times coming down with the offensive rebound, or when I attempt to put a dunk down on a guard, the ball gets stripped. I get stripped way more than blocked. (then again I play PF, so I am a prime target for square (x) mashers.Comment
