Man the skin tones and lighting look so much better and more realistic in 2K17!Comment

No. I think the players looks great this year, too. It may just be the lighting or whatever but the game looks better overall to me. As with most things it's not perfect nor will it ever be.Comment

Re: The Art Team Really Tanked This Year.
A few musings:
-I don't think the player models are as noticeably bad in motion as they look in stills
-It's possible that they created a skinny model based off of just one particular player, then just mass updated all players with the previous skinny body type to this new one
-Lack of muscle definition doesn't look as bad when the game is in motion and players' 3D muscles are flexing appropriately. This may be by design. Some players still should have more muscle tone regardless.
-I don't think it's fair for people to question the work ethic or allocation of resources of the art department.
-In regards to colors, I think striking the balance between having arena specific lighting and having the colors appear correctly is a lot more difficult than we imagine. Especially if you have different people handling lighting and artwork, you could constantly go back and forth recoloring things to get it to look right. Teams also have specific color pallets but they could easily end up looking way off depending on the lighting. IF the lighting is finalized after the rest of the art, then there can be problems.
-Does anyone on the art team even have accounts here? Regardless, I think they're aware of this thread because so many other Devs are here and they make it a point to emphasize that they read more than we think.
-I'm also a Knicks fan so I've gotten used to Carolina blue jerseys (which are now almost purple looking) and a generic Madison Rectangle Flower Bed.
-I know they've updated art in the past so hopefully some of these things can be addressed with patches or OTA updates. I'm less inclined to think body types will unless there's already a more suitable body type in the game.
If some of y'all don't want to purchase potentially one of the greatest sports games made because of the body types of certain players (or your favorite team's court), that's your prerogative, though ridiculously comical rationale in my mind.[NYK|DAL|VT]

Bottom line is player models look way worse this year. They took a huge step back in that department. If they weren't gonna improve them for the better, they should've just kept the 2k16 models.
And not correcting court and uniform colors that have been issues the past few years is very disappointing.Comment

As far as faces go I feel like they've made some major improvements along with skin tones, overall I like what I see.Chicago Bulls•Toronto Raptors•Carolina Panthers•Toronto Blue Jays•Toronto Maple LeafsComment

Re: The Art Team Really Tanked This Year.
The models look worse in my eyes. As do some of the faces. And that's just the current teams - the legends are even worse - the last few pictures shown for Dikembe Mutombo are horrendous. I thought it was Frank Bruno at first.
I don't know what's happened this year, but it would seem for all the leaps forward in gameplay mechanics and game mode functionality, the art team seems to have suffered.Attached Files-----------------------------------------

Re: The Art Team Really Tanked This Year.
I think more or less people are referring to the player models the body builds of the players and players such as Kevin Durant Brandon Jennings and Etc being given the noodle armed model

Re: The Art Team Really Tanked This Year.
I am not a huge fan of the high school body types that they chose to go with BUT from a gameplay angle to which I play the Skybox cam I know the body types will not be an issue for me at all.
Also this game always looks far better in person then it does on YouTube, so if it looks good on YouTube then I know I will be happy with it on my TV.Comment

Re: The Art Team Really Tanked This Year.
Agreed! But instead of being a priority for next year, why can't they fix it this year? I mean I would think it would be a simple fix. Just give Steph, Giannis, Tony Parker & Jimmy Butler their body types from last year, get rid of the skinny high school toothpick arm player models (only have them for KD & Brandon Ingram), slim down CP3's & Lowry's shoulders, give Westbrook a bulkier body type, etc.. I would think they could do this in a roster update let alone a patch. I thought I would be able to get over some of the player models, but after watching a leaked Warriors vs Rockets vid I found myself so distracted on how skinny Steph's arms were smh. 2K get er done!). This year is once again proof that 2k listens to us so we need to be careful about what we complain about and how loudly we voice our disdain about things. The major complaint last year was that the body types were way too big--Now 2k has gone full speed in the opposite direction.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment
