2K need to fix them with a patch before the NBA season start. Im trying to get a refund right now on my psn preorder, this year 2k feel so weak overall, only the gameplay got some tweaks. Graphic wise the game looks worst compare to 2k16 based on the prelude. I was excited but now after seeing all those ugly skinny body types too, I AM DISAPPOINTED!

Re: The Art Team Really Tanked This Year.
I could be wrong but I think 2k has the ability to change body types within their rosters(). This year is once again proof that 2k listens to us so we need to be careful about what we complain about and how loudly we voice our disdain about things. The major complaint last year was that the body types were way too big--Now 2k has gone full speed in the opposite direction.
2k has also beefed and plumped up certain players that they didn't need to. One can say 2k has gone even more extreme with their body types to a certain extent. For whatever reason, people seems to keep overlooking the visuals that certain players have gotten more plump than last year such as Derozan and Jimmy Butler as an example. Draymond Green on the other hand looks improved with a more realistic slim down, which is the type "subtle of slimming effect" that I was expecting for other players.Comment

Re: The Art Team Really Tanked This Year.
i saw a stream earlier and it looked like they gave gordon hayward the durant body type.. anyone got an hd still of him? the stream i was watching was pretty pixelyComment

Re: The Art Team Really Tanked This Year.
That comment didn't make sense. So Draymond was too big for you, which naturally means the whole art team "tanked". They saw Draymond and said "well we give up" ? I don't think soComment

Re: The Art Team Really Tanked This Year.
Post solutions? You think we're all video game designers here?
Solution:do a better job. It's embarrassing how bad these player models look. I have a lot of respect for Mike wang and the 2k team, but it's just unacceptable. I'm not saying art team just quit or were lazy, but it is the producer's job to allocate resources properly and make sure they can deliver a decent product.
It's 2016, we have amazing consoles, and these world class athletes look like 9th grade boys. All the while, you have scanned shoes and a million new things to PURCHASE for myplayer. It's a slap in the face really. I've modded games before.. There are so many quick fixes that could and should be made to jerseys and courts alone.
Seriously 2k I'll fly myself to your studio and pay for my own room and board for a weekend if you let me photoshop your awful discolored uniforms with tiny numbers and a million inaccuracies.Comment

It would be using a heavy handed approach to "address" feedback with little concern for accuracy or authenticity.
Any professional 3D artist or art director worth their salt should be able to hear feedback regarding anatomy and understand how to address it without following it blindly, especially with so much reference material available.
If what you suggest is true, it would not show that 2K listens well, but that the art team doesn't "get" what they're hearing, doesn't have strong direction, or doesn't pay attention to accuracy as long as they ostensibly "follow" feedback, all of which would be very concerning.
Now I don't actually believe 2K is this poor at interpreting feedback, but blaming fans for 2K's poor work with bodies this year when they rightfully pointed out visual flaws and inaccuracies is kind of off base. Making players look great and correct with or without feedback is frankly the job.Last edited by Sundown; 09-13-2016, 06:14 PM.Comment

Re: The Art Team Really Tanked This Year.
I'm just gonna hold out till the game is out and 2k starts implementing updates. But I agree that some of the body types that were good took a major step back. ie. KD just needed his shoulders edited. Now he really doesn't look right.Comment

Re: The Art Team Really Tanked This Year.
There's your solution right there. Why do you become a game designer, like these people did, and you see what you can do to help, instead of assuming they don't know what they are doing when you just said you aren't a game designer. Maybe if you knew what the process involved then you wouldn't say all of this.

I don't know why the thin model changes happened, but replacing a perfect body type for the MVP with a high school body model with no muscle definition and applying that to a huge number of players in the league would not be "listening".

Yep. You are right Sundown. 2k overreacted to all the complaints about player bodies in 2k16 and didn't do their homework in regards to tweaking all 400+ players to perfection and that's on them. I have been a member at OS for years and I have noticed 1st hand how 2k tries too hard to please everyone and that's due to the fact that the majority of complainers that voice their displeasure about things often fail to provide detailed constructive criticism and they are usually the loudest (See introduction of the infamous patch 4). I've said for years that 2k needs to do a better job of filtering who they listen to and make sure it vibes with their own dev team's vision. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so I try not to put one man's opinion over another as gospel but I personally had no huge problem with the bodies in 2k16. Others here are way more analytical about that and I don't fault them for it but I thought bodies were the least of 2k16's problems. There is always a counterexample to a statement so please don't interpret that I'm saying everyone who complains isn't constructive. The cyberfaces and skin tones were another story for me but the bodies I could deal with as they weren't the eyesore for me as they were for many others here. I just find it a little funny that some are now wishing they had the 2k16 bodies back. I am fine with people complaining as I do that myself (specifically about legend cyberfaces)so don't take my comments the wrong way.Last edited by NINJAK2; 09-13-2016, 08:40 PM.EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

Overall the models have regressed. That's frustrating. No need to defend the obvious. Some players look great, but overall their lacking. Hopefully they'll patch it because it looks badComment

Re: The Art Team Really Tanked This Year.
I think players models were better last year, but lighting and skin tone are miles better this year, and I'll take the better lighting and skin tones over player models.

Re: The Art Team Really Tanked This Year.
Yeah the red skin tint being removed is huge for me personally....but I swear something about the eyes are bugging me...cant put my finger on it.
I almost wonder if some things suffered because of the mechanics of the game itself...by the footage it really seems like they completely gutted the animation system to free the game up...Comment

Re: The Art Team Really Tanked This Year.
It's not game breaking, but the models really hold the game back graphics wise. It looks ridiculous, like something Nba jam would do. I try to support the 2k devs because of how hard they work all the time, but. this is wayyyy more important then 350 new 3d scanned shoes and "authentic arena sounds".Comment
