Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
i really want to play a sharpshooting defender. i know there are different opinions about this archetype combination in general, but i'm quite confident on this.
my main focus is on defense and i want to be able to stretch with some catch&shooting 3's
now i can't decide between SG or SF
i assume it's easier to guard the 1-3 as a SG, than guarding 2-4 (including a lot of posterizers and big PFs) with a SF, thoughts?
on the other way the sharpshooting SF got more and nicer badges (e.g. Rim Protector silver, Putback silver, Hustle Rebounder bronze, brick wall bronze)
can you give me some tips or pro/cons to help me decide between SG/SF please?
and please give me some suggestions for height and weightComment

By far having the most fun with my Playmaking Slasher LeBron build. Can run the point and play the four as well. Surprisingly, I can shoot threes too. Definitely a top tier build.Comment

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
Hey guys,
Haven't been to active on these forums this year as I haven't been playing as often compared to previous years.
Just an update on my 6'7 230 SF Sharpshooting/Defender (Defender Primary). This build really needs some TLC in order to see some results. I was really doubting this build at first but once the badges and attribute upgrades starting coming, I'm starting to play more how I envisioned this player to play. I'm 87 OVR right now with my "highest" badges being silver defensive stopper and chasedown artist (these go to gold) as well as silver catch & shoot. I've had park games of 17/7/4/4/3 and I've had games where nothing was falling and I was getting scored on like I wasn't a defender-primary build. Still lots of room for improvement though.
Defense Pros:
-good lateral quickness and strength (via bruiser) will help you stay with your man. Even if he gets by you and drives, the chasedown animation will help block/contest. I've had some nasty chasedown blocks which is truly enjoying to watch.
-good rebounder when in position (hustle rebounder). I think I've only had 1 or 2 rebounding attribute upgrades so there's room for improvement.
-I intercept tons of steals that I don't get with my other players
-I feel like defensive stopper should follow you regardless of what position you're guarding. Just becasue I'm not guarding my position (or 1 up/down) shouldn't mean my defensive prowess takes a hit. I want to be Kawhi good being able to guard 1-4.
Defense Cons:
-snatchback dribbles give me issues. I feel like my recovery time should be better. Too many times I feel like my change of direction isn't fast enough
-Being 6'7, you are still outmatched by 7'0+ inside bigs. You can handle stretch bigs in the paint however.
-Being a hybrid defender build means there will be some buckets scored on you that'll make you question if you should've went full lockdown. Just accept it for what it is - you're an above-average defender but not elite.
Offense Notes:
-the badge variety is outstanding and makes a huge difference once you get them. Definitely makes you play above your ratings.
-Do not give yourself the green light on offense. Take open shots, drive the lane when it is given to you and your offense will be more reliable.
-the dunking ability is surprisingly good. Nothing better than hitting a 3, getting a block, then do an athletic dunk on the other end.
TLDR:
The Sharpshooting/Defender build is one of the most frustrating builds I've tried. With some patience and grinding, things are starting to come around. The variety of badges you get are awesome and you can impact the game in many areas. Very challenging player to play with which I thoroughly enjoy.Comment

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
You have enough speed with the ball to push the transition (especially after a rebound tks to the gold 1 man fast break) and enough passing accuracy to hit the open man/cutter from mid court if you have the right vision and timing.
You have a pretty decent mid range - 3 game, and you can be effettive playing the 4 too (last night I was one rebound shy to a triple double in pro am).
Gold dimer, gold flashy passer and bronze chasedown artist can be game changer and a lot of fun to use.
Only drawback is the silver posterizer instead of gold, but I can live with that.Comment

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
I went with a lebronesque slashing point forward (6'8", 240 lbs) and it's another very good build.

Only drawbacks i see are that the only types of players i can’t guard are the small fast PGs who literally only shoot leaners. I always get dropped off by those. But any other guy i can guard. Also with around 65 post offense you aren’t a lost cause doing post moves either. I went on a huge streak in ante up just backing small PGs down. I like the ante up because it’s mostly good players and nobody double teams. It’s really straight up man and if you suck on D your getting exposed. After playing that then going to the park you realize that 90% of the 2k community totally sucks on defense and only look good because their teammates collapse the paint. I was dunking on so many ppl in ante up.
