Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
they are pretty useless if you wanna do something else other that dribbling and running.
in 2k17 you could give up something in shooting and became a pretty decent defender.
or gave up something in playmaking and atleticism and became a pretty decent finisher.
in 2k18 you cannot decide your style of play if you go with the pure playmaker archetype.Comment

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
That's why I said able to score in variety.
If you can score as a defensive specialist you most likely can only score in one way efficiently. That's why I really like the dual archetype system. It's gonna lead to more combinations that show realistic play
Let's look at last years best defenders
Patrick Beverly can't score in all types of ways. He's a lockdown with a nice 3 ball. Gobert is a lockdown with dunking. Andre Roberson can't do jack but dunk. Kawhi and Jimmy Butler are extreme cases of guys who play elite D AND put up 20 ppg. They are superstars. Honestly I don't think 2k wanted us to have superstars last year. They wanted us to make players complimentary to each other and fill roles.
All I was saying was 2k designed lockdowns to defend and not do all they did on 2k17. We kinda broke the game to make lockdowns great scorers

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
I think I'm going a 7' rim protector. All hall of fame badges is going to be so useful when everyone is an offensive archetype with post scoring as either one of the two, as that seems to be the wave now and I really don't care about the offense that much as long as I can knock down a semi open mid and dunk without it rimming out 50% of the timeComment

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
What do you guys think of a:
6'8 SF
Low Weight like 210
Max Wings
Max Shoulder
Primary Shot Creator
Secondary 3 Point Shot
this build comes with 3 HOf badges (tireless, difficult shots and mid range deadeye).
Lay ups look to be in the low 80s, dunks 75 midrange 90 3 pointer 85 so scoring is pretty good.
downside i see is thta he will be pretty slow with a projected 80 speed.
I made a slashing defender in the prelude and the guy had no shot so i dont wanna be a lame duck on offense if i can't cut which will probably be harder this year with less shooters to stretch the floor.Comment

Most people who made post scorers last year didn't even know how to use them .#1 Laker fan

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
To Demon:
I think that build can work if you want to play Iso-Joe basketball. Thinking Melo/Joe Johnson build. Would need the team around you to create space and them be ok with you being a volume shooter, because as you touched on, there will be a variety of ways for you to score. But it will be hard for you to gain space or keep up on the defensive endComment

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
I played a lot and I saw one legit post scorer in thousands of games.
I saw a lot of guys try and fail because their teammates wouldn't give them the iso, mine included.Comment

I'd feel bad feeding the post sometimes, since kids wouldn't let them work down there.

Re: Dual Archetypes Confirmed... Thoughts? Combinations?
One problem we had with a post scorer was even when we gave him plenty of space he was steal spammed to death. He did try to pass out quickly but it rarely worked out. One on one would be almost a guaranteed bucket though .#1 Laker fan
