I tried everything I can think of. I tried to raise all CPU defensive sliders like defensive awareness, on ball defense, lateral quickness, etc. I tried to raise the drives contact. I tried increasing the help defensive slider on coach settings. I tried lowering User acceleration, speed, strength while raising these settings for the CPU. I tried to lower the "with ball" movement sliders and raise the "off ball" ones. I tried to edit the roster and raise every player's perimeter defense, inside defense, lateral quickness and help defense iq up to 99. I tried to give every player the "pick dodger" badge. Unfortunately nothing works.

I just played a game(play now) for the first time in months. It was still a bit easy to drive to basket off PnR sometimes. D overall wasn’t as bad as last time I played. It was easier than I remember playing on All Star. I was Knicks vs Nets(6 min quarters) leading most of game by double digits. Fourth quarter became brick city for me, which I was expecting. Nets cut it to four but I held on.

Does anybody know if team defense works better in Live 19? If it does I'm considering giving that game a shot, maybe update the rosters and whatnot. But only if the on court basketball is more realistic.

I really enjoyed the gameplay of Live19, hell I loved Live10. But getting to the rim and finishing was ridiculously easy with nearly every player I tried as usual. Add in the lack of depth they allow you to have with coaches, players, tendencies, franchise and all that I quickly went back to 2K.

There's certainly promise with the gameplay though. But there's a large gap of customization, animations to trigger for specific movement, game-mode depth, season control, and edits they've been far behind for a long time.

I rose CPU defense awareness/consistency and lateral quickness and on ball D to 98. It got too easy at my previous 80 setting. It’s really hard again and I have to really play well to be competitive. I also rose off ball speed/accel and lowered on ball. My only worry is if the CPU makes my new 98 slider settings too easy again. Then I don’t have a buffer to move up to. I always liked keeping those CPU D sliders at 80, knowing if they nerfed the defense I had room to go up. Now I’m almost maxed out.

Fired up 2K22 for the first time in months today.

Felt like help defense was non existent from both the User and CPU.

Unreal levels of frustration, disappointment, and disgust for 2K.

yesss and unsure if even sliders or anything roster or whatever can fix this BS! but so much potential of the game u can just tell!

None of that will fix things because they have patched the game to turn off certain AI help that you cannot select to be turned on.

I really hope 2K is taking a good look at this thread and doing their best to upgrade the AI defense for 2K23. We've got a lot of good info in here.

Pretty mind blowing stuff remembering the first week of 2k22. Legit thought the game was perfect.

It ended up like the infamous PES 20 Demo, that was the best soccer gameplay ever made, just for the final release to mess it all up.

I really hope 2K is taking a good look at this thread and doing their best to upgrade the AI defense for 2K23. We've got a lot of good info in here.

Come on, 2K. I know you guys can do this.

We will never see the sort of game play or MyLeague realism improvements that we want unless two things happen:

1. They start working microtransactions into those modes. Think in game purchases for "sim" elements or something.

2. The MyPlayer and E-Sport community embraces realism over arcade style play.

I could definitely see #1 happening, and #2 will never happen because the unfortunate truth is that the average fan, especially the younger crowd, have no interest in realism.

2k simply does not make the same money on the sim community that they make on the MyTeam and MyPlayer kids who are spending their parents money on VC. Therefore they rightfully will never pour the same resources into those aspects of the game. NBA 2k is just basketball Fortnite now and that's how it's gonna be, sadly.

The best and only realistic hope for the sim community is that another game comes along propped on the basis of realism. I personally don't give a damn if it's NBA teams and branding as long as I get a competitive, challenging and realistic on court experience. Until something like that has the budget and exposure to lure buyers away from the 2k monopoly, we will never see what we could consider a better on court product from 2k because they have no incentive to do so.

But there is a secret third option...
Separate the offline and online experience.
When people bit***** about their stupid MY Player and rec center don’t make up for it by destroying the whole offline experience. And I think this will happen only when there will be a decent rival to 2K

I haven’t played this game since November as too many issues for me, but had to dig this up to find out if 2k fixed this or not over the cycle but just reading through a few posts on the last page it seems it reverted backwards again? What’s the consensus?

I’m gonna wait and see post release what people I trust and are non biased (alabamarob / ataman) say about the game and see the effects that gameplay updates have on sliders and the game before buying this year. I need updates to be separated from offline and online for me to even buy it! Pretty incredible though that this issue went a whole cycle not being addressed and 2 years in a row! Wow!

This makes me sad for the series going forward.

We asked Czar to get us a sim experience, and on release he delivered. I called this the beat 2k I had ever played. Every month since then they've ripped off a piece of the defense that made me love this game on release
