Re: Please turn the help defense, and cutter help defense back to were it was on rele
This area is mediocre at best for me. The lack of help defence, or how it’s a step too slow when it comes, hurts this game. The real NBA has guys driving a lot with many help rotations on a single play. You just don’t get that in this game. If you blow by people you get an easy bucket. Very poor in terms of drive and kick as a result because there is no reason to kick. So you have to have better than normal perimeter defenders to stop drives in the first place or the game isn’t competitive. It’s just not a good game and it doesn’t accurately reflect the modern NBA imo.
Not a good game? That’s being dramatic bruh, it has flaws but this is one of the best 2Ks in years if not ever

Shocking coming from you. You defend this game as though you are on the payroll.Comment

Most modern defensive concepts aren't even in the game, and the ones that are don't work properly. A majority of gamers don't care if help defense or rotations function properly. We may never see it, or anything closely resembling NBA basketball again. Basketball Fortnite makes them more money.
It's not just the gamers, either. Most big time basketball fans don't understand how modern NBA defense works. Many don't even watch games. In a recent poll on RealGM, an astonishing number of posters on the main basketball forum admitted that they don't even watch games. Just YouTube clips and highlight mixes.
So it's really depressing but the details that we all wish would make it into sports gaming might just be DOA. These kids don't care.Last edited by tarantism; 02-13-2022, 10:31 PM.GO FALCONS!

Since around last month, help defense has been solid for me. While I can definitely exploit the CPU on some plays, I don’t find it exploitable to the point that I have to avoid P&R’s to have a decent game vs. the CPU.
I’ve found some of the rotation logic to actually be pretty impressive. This is the first basketball game I’ve seen have proper double team rotations.
Game probably won’t get the credit it deserves until the next one drops but for me 2K22 is a solid entry. Hopefully they keep building on it.Last edited by The 24th Letter; 02-14-2022, 06:16 AM.Comment

You don't have to agree with it; just understand that's essentially what it is.Comment

Watching the lakers vs jazz last night I wanted to throw my phone at how many guys had so much time to shoot threes in pivotal clutch moments that they’d catch, stare at the nearest defender, take a beat, stare again, and then shoot. Meanwhile that nearest defender is a mile away and looking like a lazy kid who’s mom is asking him to take out the trash. Moving like he’s trying to convince us he is but he really isn’t moving to close out the shooter at all. Drives me nuts.Comment

Idk. I think it also has to do with the nba itself making defense such a forgotten art. Every convo of “best player in the league” I see debated has “I know he’s a terrible defender, but” added to it (with the exception of Giannis and maybe a very select few others). No coincidence the young gen only care about arcade ball.

But honestly please compare NBA 2k to an average NBA game. I mean I mostly only watch Pacers games for years but in these games an average offense consists of someone beating his man, driving to the rim and then getting challenged by someone. many times a kickout pass followed by a closeout is the result of this. We never get to this point in NBA 2k. If you are lucky someone is rotating over to the driving players. Most of the times he is too late to do anything. After the kickout the defense is completely collapsed. In the NBA, you can have this situation multiple times in an offensive possesion where everybody is rotating and closing out to the shooters.Comment
