    Hey Playmaker,

What type of shooting percentages are you getting? At times, my guys shoot below 40%. I'm using player lock and the Sixers. What do you think?

To all the programmers out there, is there something in .dbf (dont even know what that is really) that we can adjust so these playbooks stay permanent?

Also, to Playmakers, excellent job my friend. While I tried 'selling' the game to some friends out of the box, it wasnt till i showed them Live with your sliders did I convince them all to pick up a copy of this game.
there is a way to set it but it involves .dbf editing in the files teams.dbf and plays.dbf. those files can be viewed and edited with any DBF viewer such as DBF commander or CDBF. i use the latter. http://www.whitetown.com/cdbf/

in plays.dbf you can get the ID of the play and then assign it in the fields PRIM_OFF, SECON_OFF, ALT_1, ALT_2, ALT_3 and ALT_4 in teams.dbf.

this method used to work in previous lives, but now the playcalling has been changed and i'm still trying to figure out the names, cause in plays.dbf the new plays don't show up. if i make any advance at it i might post it.

Actually below 40% isn't unsual in the NBA especially in the Eastern Conference.

MY settings honestly are still kinda high to me. But if you want to get your FG% up just increase yous shooting ranges up to 40 for all sliders Short, Medium and Long.

Thanks, and keep up the good work.

I realize some guy's might not want to do this every game. The Sliders should be ok for gameplay aswell by themselves.

However, I like enhanced realism in my games so I would reccommend taking the extra 5 minutes to set it up. The game plays brilliant if you have the patience to set it up for your next opponet during your dynasty games.

But yes I do realize some guy's might not like to go and do all these things. It's kinda like Madden when you set up each teams playbook before you play them in a franchise game. There is a reward factor involved.

Awesome sliders PM! I've found the game addictive after using your sliders & setting the plays for each team. Keep up the good work!

I would figure though, with the PC version, that there would be a way to edit & save your playbooks for each team somewhere in one of the .dbf files or something. I'm not sure which version (XBox, PS2. PC) your using, but I would figure that some editing could be done on the PC version to make this a one time change????

              YES YES YES !!!

Playmakers ! THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!

I played a game againts the Rockets. My team was Philly. And the game is REALISTIC

I lost, but the opponent team plays realistic.
They shot mid range jumpers, not only from the paint, and this is a good thing for me.

              Her is the stats:

You see Houston's players shot 20 from the paint. So it's 40 point and its real.

There are some slider value, that I need to change, but IT's a good basic.

              Thank You once again PM.
              Play realistic !

Go to a practice and then setup every teams OFFENSIVE QUICK PLAY to SHHOTER A and you'll see the SG take all the shots. EA for some reason belive that the SG's are more like the top scorer's so they just assigned Shooter A as DEFAULT Base PLay because most teams have stud SG's like Kobe, Wade, Ginoboli, Allen and Redd. EA assigned that play for those guy's to come off screens and when yoy first see the game play out the right out the box what did you see?

The SG coming off a screen so that people would notice right away that screen plays work. It was a way to market the product and get guy's excited. You could probably use the DEFAULT settings and get production aswell but I wanted to expand the Playbooks so that you see more movement and teams don't take the first shot available. I also wanted to see designed plays for guy's like LeBron and Maggette working inside, Nowitzki oustide as opposed to inside, Kiralenko not shooting three's simply because he's a SF but him slashing more to the rack to get his points.

EA's DEFENSIVE playbooks don't have teams switching up as much overall. You see the same looks every game at DEFAULT settings. I learned all this from practice games and watching the CPU. But hey I love Live and I'm sure that DEFAULT is pretty good but I like added realism and EA won't do the extra work themselves. They will give you assigned plays and then say now go find the right setups for your self.
I will test this out when I get home tonight. So have you played San Antonio yet it seemed every play went to Duncan on shooter a default play? They went to other guys but mostly to Duncan. Also you mentioned going into practice and trying it out. So does that mean we can practice 5 on 5 this year? I didn't look for this option yet.

                    yeah, it's called teams.dbf

i just edited the whole off/def strategies for the Heat together with the off/def quick plays so i don't have to change them everytime.

                    understanding teams.dbf is pretty simple:

                    1. pick three teams
                    2. look up all their strategies and write them down
                    3. open up teams.dbf and you'll know the codes EA used for each play

I understand...it's just that I can't play franchises anymore, not with my son. I just like to play a quick game in exhibition when I can. Usually it's the night's big game, or to simulate a game I just watched. I'll try them out, without the edits.

Does anyone else not edit the teams' strategy? How's it play?

Then I played with the team strategy set and he got involved but not as much. So here is my theory, now this might not be true for all teams. I think ea did a good job in having the teams run their plays on default. I just think that people are confused because they named the play shooter a. I think if they would have named it sec break or maybe fast break offense it would clear it up. If you leave it on default the teams look to push the ball more and take advantage of our mistakes as users. I saw some great plays for Duncan and Manu and even 1 or 2 for Bowen. I am not taking anything away from your work. I just think that maybe since we have been shafted in the past and you had to put in hard work. You think you have to do the same with this years game. But as I stated the teams do run plays designed around their star players on default, so maybe this year you might not of had to put in so much hard work. Just my theory. Also if players are finding that the pg looks to score to much. Guard him, take away the drive. In the nba if you don't stop the pg from penetrating he will take advantage of it.
It's funny. From Steve's videos with the Bulls, I saw Kirk Hinrich just going off. He was the main option. And that was on default (I believe). Then once I got the game and set the plays for the Bulls and played against them Curry was an absolute beast in the post. Hinrich was pretty much a nonfactor in the offense (and I have been getting lit up predominantly by guards).

I've played the Spurs with the playsets and while they did run plays for TD, Manu was the one that absolutely killed me.

I honestly think that the Spurs are a bad team to test run. I say this because I think they not necessarily "overrated" Manu Ginobili. But they really favored him in the ratings because he's nearly unstoppable in this game. They were even chanting "MVP" when he got the ball, not Duncan.

You should test your theory out with a more balanced team and then see what the results are.

I dont see a plays.dbf inside the teams.dbf. They are separate folders inside the rosters. I still cant figure it out, I dont know where the quick plays are and the strategies, sorry if I m bothering you but I dont see it. Plus there are plays like Utah, and theres like 30 Utahs in the plays.dbf. I dont see where you can change the strategies and quick plays. Can you tell me where it is under plays.dbf?
