Re: Playmakers All-Star/Press Box Cam/Team Specific Plays

Ok guy's there are some many replies and forgive me if I missed anything but I have to concentrate on finishing up the remaining 11 teams so I can smooth out rough edges on the Sliders.

I really didn't expect their to be that many guy's playing Live on this site so I will try and speed up the process and get all the teams complete and post a most FINISHED product set of sliders.

Now, as for the questions here are my responses.

The Spurs I will definetly play them again tonight but a poster pointed out something Ginoboli is a beast in this game. He kinda just puts his head down and attacks his man very aggressive so in some games Duncan might not get as many shots as him. But if you recall last year Ginoboli had quite a few games where he shot more than TD aswell in real life. My solution is that I'll probably assign Manu one less play and give to Duncan or just reverse the pattern of playcalling by the Spurs. But that team has so many weapons it's crazy. I also wanted to assign plays so that Michael Finley and Nick Van Exel get involved off the bench so that was one reason why I had multiple plays for their swing players set up in the playbook.

If anyone is shooting too high just lower the shooting ranges down about 1-2 clicks for you or the CPU. Be careful not to take the midrange game completely out because guy's like Ray Allen, Kobe Bryant, T-Mac and Rip Hamilton have plays that get them coming off screens for mid range jumpers so you don't want to hinder them too much and make them average shooters.

I don't have the PC version of Live and I saw a few questions about if these transfer over. I'm sorry but I can't really comment on the PC Version of the game. But the Playsets should still work for all systems.

CPU SHOT CONTROL-This means you are allowing the CPU's ratings to factor more into shots. I play with this option on because it's really pretty good when it comes to who's actually shooting the ball. I can't make a 3-pointer to save my life with Josh Howard but with Keith Van Horn I can hit a few and you can really tell the difference. But this is optional aswell it's just how I play.

If you are getting high scores don't be afraid to cut down the minutes. The most important thing is that the game feels realistic and it's fun overall. But with Game Speed at 45 you can really slow the game down by controlling the pace and you'll see that the CPU doesn't always just launch up shots either so it allows for lower scores but you have to move the ball and not fast break every chance. Take time to run a play and set up things and scores wil drop. I know this game can really seduce you into getting out and running because the fast breaks are awesome especially to see a guy filling a lane and you want to see an alley or just a monster throw down......

Alright I have to finish up the remaining teams. I'll post updates as they are complete. The Suns will be the first team up next but what I hate is that EA didn't factor into account that Joe Johnson isn't with them and they had plays already designed for JJ but a guy like Raja Bell is not a jump shooter and Jim Jackson isn't as good as JJ either so I'll have to atleast alter a play or two that gets those guy's in posistion to score better than launching three's because they have lower ratings than JJ and Quentin Richardson for that matter.

      1. pick three teams
      2. look up all their strategies and write them down
      3. open up teams.dbf and you'll know the codes EA used for each play

      K3yd,

I'm a bit confused by these instructions. They seem easy to follow, but there is alot going on in the teams & plays files that I'm not sure what to change & what to change it to. Could you be a bit more elaborate in how you made you changes for the quickplays & strategies?

      Thanks!

PM you may want to alter the BULLS and the KNICKS. Curry was traded today (details not known, but it was confirmed on Bulls.com). So now the play sets should be altered accordingly.

Sirjam I trust your knowledge about the game and sliders so any feedback you can provide let me know. I'd rather focus on negative things because that will help me better understand what isn't working so far so I can fix the problem or reduce any problems.

If you can post a few stats aswell that would help. Also, the minutes and Gamespeed is very important because I need to see if it's remotely possible to get this game to play beyond 10 minutes. I'm shooting for 10-11 minutes because I know 12 would be really pushing it past it's limits.

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize Curry was on the trade block....

I didn't get around to New York yet but this helps me in advance and now I'll have to review the Bulls options down low offensively or else I might have to rely on their perimeter players in the Playbook's now.

            Thanks for the heads up......

He wasn't on the block, it's just that he hadn't re-signed and then there was a huge debacle about DNA testing because of his irregular heartbeat. All matters aside, they didn't want to part with Curry, but they couldn't reach an agreement.

Re: Playmakers All-Star/Press Box Cam/Team Specific Plays

I think I've created a monster in the Suns. They are freakin amazing in this game. Man if only Joe Johnson and Q.Richardson was on their team this year. You guy's would go crazy trying to decide who do you defend from outside. Bell isn't as effective as though those guy's were but he's pretty good defensively with these sliders.

Amare is just ****ting on me and I assigned Mohammed to him so Duncan would stay out of foul trouble. You really have to make sure your top big man like Duncan or Nowitzki are defending guy's who won't get them into foul trouble with these sliders. That is what I wanted for guy's to think about who you are assigning players to defend in the game.

I put Bowen on Nash to start the game and it was awesome because he kept Nash out of the paint then the Suns adjusted and started calling this play called Rising Sun where Amare comes out and sets a high then rolls to the rim and Nash threw him a nasty azz alley oop on me the crowd went crazy and i had to take a timeout at that moment to quite the arena......

It's crazy also because when Nash came out finally Barbosa didn't maintain the tempo of the game like Nash. Ea has done a great job with player tendencies in this game. Barbosa was more willing to walk the ball up then Nash. I saw this same thing with the Clippers last night, Jaric walked up the ball more while Livingston was flying at every chance he got to push the rock.

By the way I think I found the best substition settings at SUB FREQ-44 and Fatigue Effect-52. The starters don't get replaced until about the 8 minute mark of the 1st qtr using 10 Minutes. So, the backups get about a quick 2 minutes and depending on your starters fatigue rating they come back and start the 2nd qtr right away. I want to quit playing this game right now and move on to the next team for testing but man this Phoenix and San Antonio game is awesome and exciting. Guy's are coming up with awesome blocks if you go weak inside. Amare rejected my **** using Horry on a layup attempt. I didn't even see him coming with help defense from behind.....

Yeah I tried changing stuff but it didnt do anything either. I'm not sure what to change, because nothing on the teams.dbf says off strategy or def strategy or quick plays, help us out here K3yd!!

                    PM;

Thanks for all you've done at this stage.

You made this game much more realistic.

When you get to the Bucks, would you be able to put in a play for Bobby Simmons, maybe like Michael Redd. I know Simmons is a good three point shooter. Simmons will play either SG, SF or PF has been also been mentioned.

                    Just an fyi.

I just posted them on the Front Page. I pretty much left everything as is for the Suns accept I had to account for Bell and Jackson playing instead of Johnson. If those two shoot too many outside shots the Suns Offense will suffer.

Jackson is an 83 3-pt shooter but for some reason he's better at midrange than long range. But maybe it was just that one game he struggled.....

The problem is if Bell is at SG and you have the same play listed for Jackson Bell will be playing mostly out of his range.

I really think Mason will start and Simmons will be the 6th man off the bench.

It was an exciting up-tempo game, but anything you see wrong?

After that, I changed the time to 8 mins/speed to 50 and got lower scores. But I still want to know why I got huge results from the 10 min game? What time should I stick with.
