That's why I started doing a Hoopcast legacy, it really only takes a few minutes to sim each game. It doesn't give as much control as I'd like, but I was sick of the CPU giving a player 10 mpg that I had scheduled 25-30 mpg in my rotations.

How in the world do you guys get offers from big programs? I made a career legacy and simmed to 2022-23 and now I am with UTEP and can't get an offer from even a major team.

There are multiple factors involved: coaching overall rating, team performance, and coaching prestige are the biggest three. job availability is the other obvious but uncontrollable factor

Keep making the tournament and keep progressing in it. You won't get hired from a small school to a power school, but anything mid-major on can land you in a power conference if the jobs open up.

Unfortunately, as the game gets later in legacy I've found that less coaches get fired and more retire. That means sometimes no power jobs open up in a year, while other times 4 or 5 open up. So you have to be ready to make the jump, you can't always choose where you end up.

I have two legacies. In my main long-running legacy (5+ years in real life, ~19 years in-game), I play all games. In my other subsidiary career legacy, I play coach mode.

I never, ever simulate. I like to have my stats and simulating games gets kind of wonky. Plus, it makes the legacy so much more enjoyable when you play every single game, IMO, and with no new editions of CH 2K8 coming out, it's not as if I have any deadlines to meet, so if I season takes several months, then so be it.

This is the reason I haven't left LIU yet! I dont want to get stuck at a school where I dont want to be. Plus for me its hard to leave once I get a feel for each players game. I wanna stay and see how good they can get. Last year we were undefeated until the final 4. This year I think we have a CHANCE to get further. To be honest in EVERY legacy I've played I have never lwft the original school I started with, because once I get in my groove we can compete with anyone.

I've ALMOST left just about every single season, but when I look at what ive built and compare it to starting over, its hard to leave

Just finished my fifth year at SMU. I been playing five years so one season per year I have other sports franchises also, so i pretty much follow the sports calendar.I had a rebuilding year with one great freshman and backups turned starters. To make the tournament, we had to win the conference tourney, but lost to UTEP in the final. Season record 19-12, went to NIT but lost in second round. I think for the players we had and to be able to be so close to make the tourney was a great achievement. I was awarded ten year extension. i have yet to win a national title, the closes I got was elite eight, four season ago. One bad thing is my best class and year was year four 29-2. Got the number 1 in the tourney but became the first school to lose to a 16 Harvard on a last second shot. After that all senior starters left to NBA2K8. However year six will be great. I recruited my *** off and picked up four starters with average overall 80 as freshman. All were top 20 recruits in the nation. Reminds me of Michigan, because I am playing all four freshman as starters, with my freshman of the year ( Blankenship) of the NCAA.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

I just started year 6 of my legacy and my 3rd with SDSU. I started out with Maine, and little did I know, they had one of the best shooters in the game, Greg McLemore. My gameplan was pretty much just get him the ball and let him shoot. Good thing a lot of the American East plays zone because I would just find him in the sweet spot and fire away. We ended up going 22-7 and we're one of the bubble teams, but we breezed through the AEC Tourney and locked up the #10 in the West. I guess we started clicking at just the right time because we ran through all the way to the championship game, riding on McLemore's shoulders. We came up against FSU, who we beat on their court earlier in the season. It was a pretty close game, and we had a chance to tie it with a three with less than a minute left, by McLemore turned it over, and they hit a dagger three. We ended up losing by 9.

The next season we started out shaky, and I had to move around the lineup to fit the current team. I had to move G Mac to SF even though he was only 6'3". However, once we got going, nothing could stop us. G Mac led the nation in 3 pointers made, and PPG at 32+. He ended being Mid-Major POTY, and he led us back to the Final Four, where we played FSU. We got revenge for last year's loss and moved on to play UF in the championship. We ran right over them and gave Maine it's first ever NCAA Championship. However, it was a sad time as G Mac was a senior and graduated, leaving me to find a new way to score.

My only real bright spot on this new team was my frosh PG from one of the Eastern European countries. He wasn't as good a shooter as G Mac, but he got the job done. Just like the year before, we got on a roll, and behind our PG this time, we won back-to-back 'ships. He ended up being Freshman of the Year in the NCAA. But that would be the end of my time at Maine, as Steve Fisher just retired from San Diego State and I was their first choice. I gladly accepted, and moved on to a Major conference.

At SDSU, they had some good player, including a really good shooting 1 and 2, and a 6'11" C who had a good post game. But the starting SF, Jamaal Franklin (who is entering the NBA Draft this year irl) wasn't really what I wanted at the 3. His jumper was shaky, but he was a COF, so he got the nod. This team was so much better than Maine because any one of the starters and even a couple bench players could go for 20 any given night. The biggest impact player I had was my 2, a freshman, who was pretty much the G Mac of SDSU. I'm pretty sure he led the team in PPG, and he ended up winning FOTY as well. We went into the NCAA Tourney with 3 losses (2 in conference to BYU and TCU that absolutely killed our chances as we were climbing the polls). We grabbed a #4 seed and had our first game won by halftime. Our second game was against #12 Seton Hall, and we had a huge lead at the half, but blew it in the second and found ourselves down big with a couple minutes left. My frosh SG Clemmons hit a tying 3 with 2 seconds left to take it into OT, but we got outscored 15-4 and were knocked out. Franklin and a backup PG both graduated, and another backup PG transferred out.

My only recruit that I signed was Doug Faye, a 5* SG (#3 SG, #18 Ovr.) who would step in and replace Franklin. He was the perfect SF for me, great outside shot, good in the post, and good rebounder. He was my 3rd straight FOTY, and would also win MWC POTY, and was even 1st Team All-America. The only real trouble we ever got into was a couple games when we shot around 30% and couldn't hit a 3 to save our lives. We had 2 OT games against New Mexico, but pulled both out, one at the buzzer. Our only loss was against Mizzou where we just choked in the 2nd half. We were ranked as high as #6 in the polls. We managed to get a #1 in the Midwest, and despite a rough couple games, we were through to the championship. This time it was against Arizona, but their star frosh PG got into foul trouble and we ran away with it. We graduated our starting PG, PF, and C (who got drafted), but I think I can fill those positions nicely.

This was by far my best recruiting class ever, pulling in 3 5* (AA Mr. Basketball CA PG K. Martinez, AA PG C. Burton, & SG A. Galindo), a 4* SF A. Osborne, and 3* 7' C T. Watts. By the time these guys are seniors, they will all be starting, and will all be lottery picks (I simmed ahead just to see what would happen in the future). But my starting 5 this year is Martinez (79 Ovr., Galindo 80 Ovr. (87 3pt!), Clemmons, Faye, and Watts (73 Ovr.). Faye is a little undersized at the 4 (only 6'5"), but he is great for spreading the floor and pushing the tempo. My plan is to stay at SDSU at least until these guys graduate, but if a really great job opens up, I might just have to take it.

Just finished my 4th season up at LIU! We avenged our loss to Michigan State last year in the Final 4 by beating them in Elite 8 this year! Then we went on to beat Duke, then Maryland to bring home the 1st National Championship to LIU going 38-0 (no cake walk though! Playing on MOP).

Then was offered a bunch of garbage jobs but I was interested in the Idaho job. I thought I accepted it, only to find out I really accepted the Niagra Falls job (booooo). I thought about reloading my dyansty but I didnt wanna play the NC game all over again. So I'll be starting my 1st season (and probably last) as the Head Coach of the Niagra Falls Purple Eagles. If I dont like I'll even take a garbage job to get outta there!

Only good thing is I stay in New York, and I've recruited pretty good out of NY.

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!

Been bouncing around a little bit between schools, all simming games. Was at Miami(OH) and got them to be pretty nice, ended up getting a job at UCLA. My ex-Miami team was 10th in the country when I checked a few games into my first season at UCLA. Eventually restored UCLA to be good, just last season was blowing through teams in the tourney as a 2 seed I believe, then met up with 1 seeded UCONN in the elite 8. I was better than them statistically but they had a way better record and they absolutely destroyed me and they ended up winning the championship game handily too. Season before that I lost in Sweet 16 to the eventual champs as well (forget who that was though). Starting this season as the preseason 6 seed in the country. Want to win a championship or 2 then go build up a large mid-major to be a national powerhouse. That's the plan.

I couldnt take it at NU, I simmed the whole season and I'm outta there! My heart wasn't in it I didn't want to be there to begin with.

I also just found out I didnt have any offers, so I have to stay another year! I'll be simming thisryear too! I WANT OUT OF NIAGRA!

                        I shoulda never left LIU!

Well I simmed my 2nd year at NU going 7-19 (worst of my career) and they offered a 4 year extention (yea right! ). So I took the job at Long Beach St!

Its gonna be looooong year in Long Beach, we're terrible.

Man! The past 2 years at Long Beach St have been CRAZY!

So the 1st season didn't go so well. We went 12-17, last place in the Big West. This year (2nd year) was turning into a disaster as well! We were 11-16 and needed to beat CS Fullerton to avoid being last place again and missing the conference tournament AGAIN (Keep in mind at LIU I never missed a post season, at Niagra I was hating life and just wanted out).

So we beat Fullerton to get into the conference tournament! We end up winning the conference tournament in a series of overtime and double overtime games! I was amped, affer a terrible 2 years we were actually going to make the tournament!

Then I watch the preview show and I'm in the freakin play in game! I was heated, I beat some scrub school by 20 and im happy because I atleast made it.

Ofcourse winning the play in game I now had to play the overall #1 seed USC. He we are a bunch of USC, UCLA, Pac 10 rejects at Long Beach St going against our in city big brother. The game was WAY closer than I ever would have thought! No team got more than a 4 point lead at any time. With 33 seconds left being down by 1 point my PG pulled off a NASTY crossover step back 3 pointer to put us up 2 points. We trapped them at half court, they turned the ball over WE WIN! 16 seed upsetting the overall #1 seed!

Next up Minnesota and a chance to return to the Sweet 16!
