Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
Just reached the 2020 Final Four with my UConn team. I had an amazing season where I'm currently 34-3 no thanks in part to my SF Joseph Green. Green is 6'9 with 94 dunk and 87 3-point and is darn near unstoppable. In my entire career this is by far the best season (record wise) I've ever had. Last season we lost in the Final Four to Ole Miss while the year before we got knocked out in the Sweet 16.
Green came in as a 6'4 freshman and is now a senior. Only a 4* with C+ potential he is still listed as "dark horse" even though he scores 20+ PPG and throws down dunks like I've never seen in the past 12 seasons. Most teams switch to zone or end up double teaming him sometime in the 1st half.
Sadly he's been hampered by an ankle injury in the tourney so he finishes now with layups. In the Elite 8 game against Penn State we were down by 7 late before coming back and tying it with 1:30 left. Green then drives and hits a short jumper to put us up. PSU comes down the court and he steals it, drives again and gets fouled while making a miracle shot. After making the free throw we stop them and are up by 5. I let the shot clock run down to almost nothing before he pump fakes a defender in the corner which doesn't work, then just elevates about him and drains the 3. Eight points in about a minute...game over. He finished with 25 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
Next up is #2 seed Georgia Tech to see who plays #1 seed LSU in the championship game. Hard to believe I'm still playing this game. Season 13...probably close to game 375 or so...and I've played 90% of them.Last edited by McLite; 03-20-2013, 04:38 AM.- The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.Comment

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
I've been playing this game for a few weeks now ever since the NCAA tourny was coming up soon. I decided to start a new career, but do something differently with it. I'm just entering my third season now, so all of this is a recap. Normally I'm all about defense, I run a 2-3 zone almost excuslively, with a man D if my team can't get back in time. I throw in the 1-3-1 and the matchup 2-3 to confuse my opponent and stop them from getting into a rhythm. On offense I normally take it slow, focus on getting the rebound and getting the ball up court without turning it over. I then like to run set plays to get open shots. However, I decided not to do that this time around. In this career, I will still be running the same 2-3 zone defensive concept but offensively I will be more uptempo. Now don't think of a team that likes to run and forces opponents to run with them. What I've done is do something similar to what the Denver Nuggets has been doing in the NBA if anyone has paid attention. I looked it up the other day and I guess its called "dribble-drive motion offense." Basically I run a lot of pick and rolls, attack the basket, and quick screening plays that allow me to attack the basket as well. I attack the basket and either go for a layup, or pass out to someone at the perimieter. He can then either shoot or attack the basket as well. With that said, I normally choose Saint Francis NY from the Northeast, but this time I decided to go to California to the University of California, Riverside (UCR). I put all the points into charisma in order to improve my recruiting ability. I will note that I'm not sure what rosters I used, I think the latest ones I had were from the 2009 or 2010 season.
I will post how the 1st season wen't in the next post so it doesn't look like a long read.Comment

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
For year 1, I choose not to customize the schedule. I wen't straight to the ABA where I played several games to start the scouting process for some of the recurits I was looking at. I had 3 scholorships to use the first year and I wanted to get some good quality players to help turnaround this team. I had a really tough non conference schedule for the first year. I lost to Loyola Marymount, Davidson, Colorado, Nevada, Nebraska and Marquette. I did however have a nice upset against USC. Shortly after the USC game, I made the decision to just sim the games and focus on recruiting because of the frustration I was having with some of the players on the team. So with that said, I finished the season with a 15-12 record, which I guess wasn't to bad considering that I had a tough schedule and my team wasn't the greatest. I finished fourth in the conference which was enough to make it in to the conference tournament, but I would end up losing in the 2nd round anyway. I had much more success recruiting, I used one of my 3 scolorships during the regular seaosn recruiting period by singing a 3* 6'4" 210 PG who ended up with a 80 passing rating. He was actually a really solid player to get. During the offseason I signed two players. The first was a 4* PF at 6'10" and 220lbs. I was competing with another school, who finally gave up on him halfway through the season which allowed me to get him. He is very good at rebounding and defense. He's got great inside scoring ability as well. The last recruit I signed was a 3* world recruit SF. What I liked about him was his shooting. He has a great 3 point shot, and a high freethrow rating which is key late in games. He is the only one of the two that will not start right away for my team next season. But he will get significant playing time. Villanova would go on to win the NCAA Championship. At the end of the season, I used the points I had to max out charisma. I then added the rest to teaching.
At the begining of my 2nd season, I adjusted the schedule just a little bit. I deleted two games and added in two of my own games instead against teams I thought I had a better chance at. The first was a team from the Northeast conference with a 75 rating and the other, can't remember who was a 69 rating. I kept the rest of the schedule the same, which included a regular season tournament, and rematches againt USC, Loyola Marymount, and Davidson. I planned from the start to play every game for the 2nd year, and I ended up doing just that. The 2nd year was intense and very exciting, which is why I had to post this recap in the first place. I had to share with all of you how crazy my career has been. I've never had one like this before.Comment

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
For the 2nd year, I had 6 scholorships availble to use. I'm not gonna go into to much detail because *SPOILER* I left at the end of the year so it doesn't really matter who I recruited. I did sign a 4* PG during the season and a 3* SF. I was also looking at and i'm sure were signed when I left, were a 3* Center, 3* SG, and two 3* PF's. With that said, on to the good part. I started off the season really well winning the regular season conference tournament as well as a few wins against some weak teams that were no challenge what so ever. The first big matchup came with a rematch against USC. USC was rated a 78 to my 75 rated UCR. I wen't into USC looking to make something happen and get a good quality win to prove my team beating them last year was no fluke. I wen't hard and my players played really well. The game wen't down to the final seconds where my senior C (who led the team in scoring last year) scored on a putback dunk after a missed shot with the game tied at 75. I won the game 77-75. The next game after that, was another rematch from last year against Davidson. I was hitting all my shots early on, getting nice looks. By the 2nd half, the game slowed down a bit and both teams went through a cold streak. My team responded first after a good timeout and never looked back. Davidson kept trying to hit 3's, but nothing was falling. I ended up winning 78-64. In the last big matchup of the non conference schedule was another rematch against Loyola Marymount. I started off really strong against them going on a 22-6 run to start the game. After that it was just cruzing to the finish line. I ended up winning 73-56. Going into the conference schedule, there were only two teams that had a rating better then me. There was a 76 rated UC Irvine and a 78 rated Long Beach State. I beat UC Irvine, twice in the regular season, and again in the 2nd round of the conference tournament. I would win the first game and the conference tournament championship against Long Beach State, but lose the 2nd in a blowout. With that said, I lost one other time in the regular season and that was to 72 rated Cal Poly. I finished with a 28-2 record and was regular season conference champions. I would easily win the first two games of the conference tournmanent and out muscle a win in the conference championship game against Long Beach State 72-67. I will recap the NCAA tournament in another post later on today when I have time. So stay tuned and be ready to be shocked at how far the UC Riverside gets.Comment

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
I got lucky, and my best player returned for his junior year! I didn't lose anyone besides the ones that graduated, and pulled in a good recruiting class.

08-09 UNF 29-5 15-1 ncaa 1st rd 5 seed, lost to 12 seed UW-Milwaukee
09-10 UNF 20-12 16-0 ncaa 1st rd 15 seed, lost to 1 seed Duke
10-11 UNF 28-8 15-1 ncaa 1st rd 13 seed, lost to 4 seed Syracuse(i think)
11-12 UNF 28-7 16-0 ncaa 1st rd 11 seed, lost to 6 seed Xavier(i think)
12-13 UNF 34-0 16-0 ncaa 3 seed, beat 14 seed Penn in 1st rd....TBC
I have had no success in the tourney. I have been able to recruit very good players in comparison to what i face in my conference leading to these bloated records. I have little to no success in the non conference schedule, i win sometimes, but mostly schedule HBCU's outside the preseason tournaments to get a decent record heading in to conf play. But i dont recommend this as a building process. As you can see ive done next to nothing when it counts. I slacked on recruitng 1 season and you can see what happened without me pointing it out. It does appaer that i have build a solid enuf team to compete finaly but it took 6 seasons to get here. Hopefuly this works out. FYI, both my conf losses came to rival JU in the conf. The team im waiting out to hopefuly take over, my home school. Unfortunately they seem to finish 2nd or 3rd every year with 20+ wins, so im still hopingComment

Next up is #2 seed Georgia Tech to see who plays #1 seed LSU in the championship game. Hard to believe I'm still playing this game. Season 13...probably close to game 375 or so...and I've played 90% of them.
Then came LSU. This team is unbelievable. They played a 2-3 zone the entire game and actually killed any chance I had of driving. They had a 6'7 SF, 6'10 PF, and 6'11 C. I got killed on the boards on both ends of the court. I made a game of it and actually tied it with about 7 minutes to go but Green picked up his 4th foul and had to go to the bench. Their SG then hit back to back 3's and it was all downhill from there. I ended up losing by 12 and had to watch the Tigers celebrate on the court.
End of story the last 3 years at UConn I went Sweet 16, Final Four, and Championship game. I decided to take my 3 championships I won there and moved onto Michigan who's coach retired. They haven't made the tourney since 2016 and are in rebuilding mode so it should be a good challenge.
Interesting side note. I'm into the 2021 season and just watched the Preseason show. LSU has two 1st team AA, and three 2nd team AA...yup their entire starting five. They have gone 33-4, 32-5, and 35-6 the last three seasons. I checked and they also have the top freshman in the SEC. Geez...- The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.Comment

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
Selection Sunday comes and my 28-2 UC Riverside team ends up being the #2 team in the West Region. My first opponent was #15 Cornell. Cornell was rated a 68 to my 76, so I wasn't to worried. I blew out Cornell 78-54 to advance to the 2nd round. Before playing Cornell, looking ahead and seeing that I would end up playing UTEP or Loyola Marymount in the 2nd round, I wasn't to worried about making it to the sweet 16. After that though, I was predicting to play the defending champions in Vilanova which would be a clear loss. However; that's not what happened. I had to play UTEP in the 2nd round who were rated a 78. It was a back and forth game that went down to the last shot.My freshman Guard who was on fire that game, hitting 3 three pointers, and scoring 17 points in total. Hit a solid mid range jumper after my senior PG drove to the paint and brought in the help defense. I ended up wining at the buzzer 77-76 and advanced to the sweet 16. In the sweet 16 round I had to play Utah St. who upset Villanova 68-52. Utah St. was rated an 82, but they didn't play like it at all. I jumped out early right at the gate. My Senior Guard hit 3 three pointers in the 1st half to increase the lead even more. After that it was just cruising to the finish line without giving up the lead. I ended up winning 70-60. I had my toughest matchup yet of the tournament facing off against 8th seeded Texas A&M who was rated an 84. My big's dominated in this game, my senior center had another terrific game getting a double double, and finishing with 14 points and 15 rebounds along with 2 blocks. My freshman PF had a team high 16 points and a block himself 6 of his points came off of 2 three pointers he hit. My freshman Guard did a solid job finishing with 14 points and five assists. He hit two key three pointers in the 2nd half that really kept the momentum going for us. He also made several free throws at the end of the game to seal the deal. I would go on to win 76-64 and advance to the final four!
The east region had its own Cinderella story going on. 8th seed DePaul would shockingly beat Connecticut in the 1st round, upset 1st seed Kansas in the 2nd round and then beat UAB in the sweet sixteen who beat Butler to get there. Finally they beat Oklahoma St. to reach the final four. DePaul was only ranked an 80, but they had a really high unity rating, which I'm guessing is why they played so well. That or they just got lucky like me. I beat DePaul pretty easily without much of a threat.I was never able to pull away, so they were able to keep it somewhat close, but never took the lead. My Senior Center was the player of the game finishing with 12 points, 17 rebounds, and 6 blocks. He was a beast all game long. I can definitely say I loved playing with this team and really liked the players that I had. I won the game 70-61. #2 seeded Georgetown would end up beating the #1 seeded Kentucky to advance to the championship game. I got dismantled and beat up during the championship game. It was actually embarrassing to say that I lost like that in the NCAA championship. I would lose 74-60. It was the only game of the season my senior Center didn't have double digit scoring. He did finish with 9 points, 7 rebounds, a steal, and 3 blocks though.
Overall, it was a great season, and an amazing run in the tournament. I immediately made the decision to take a solid job offer at the end of the year after having as much success as I did. I ended up taking a job offer fro Gonzaga whose coach left to take a job at Connecticut to replace Jim Calhoun who retired. When I got to the start of the next season. I immediately took action and cut several poor players. I will be playing with just 9 players on the team. In fact the season kickoff scrimmage was canceled because of that. But it had to be done! It's my team now!Comment

Re: How is YOUR Career Legacy going?!?!
I was #2 for a while now and I finally get to play the #1 team right now which is Louisville. They're 24-1 on the year. I am now 22-2, lost my last game at Pitt 60-48 where I got nothing going on offense.
Good thing I am at home so that should have help a bit.Comment
