Wow, 5 years at 12 mil per year!? Now I'm kind of glad to be losing him. That is just an outrageously bad contract and I love Hedo's game. Good for him if he can get that deal though. It basically means the Raps are giving up on Bosh next year though, does it not? I'm not too familiar with how contracts and/or the salary cap work in the NBA.

Bosh already makes 14 million now...

      It's not an issue whatsoever...

No, the Raps will still have room for CB even with crazy offer to Hedo. It can't be true. Just 10 minutes ago the whole Hedo to Toronto was dead in the water. This has come out of left field.

How much is a "Max contract" though?

Nooooo. They'll be trying to trade him at the deadline for expirings, wich they're probably not going to get. If that's what you get for a career average of 12.3 PPG,2.7 APG and 4.2 RPG a lot of players need raises. Might as well send Bosh to the Cippers for Randolph and be done with it.

I think max contracts start at 13 million and they have 12.5% increases if your signing to stay with your team and if you sign to leave your team 8 point something % increases...

No matter what happens with this Hedo garbage. The Raps have enough money to sign Bosh next year. Money is not a factor, it's just about Bosh wanting to come back to the Raps. Maybe that's why Colangelo is going after Hedo so hard ?? He wants to be aggressive in this season's free agent period to give more reason for Bosh to stay if the Raps have a good season next year.

I really like the Raptors' roster. Why did they have such a bad year last year? Was it chemistry or coaching or what?

I would think a lineup of Calderon, Parker, Marion, Bosh and Bargnani would have been a pretty good team out of the east.

Injuries, Calderon, Bosh missed some time. J.O. didn't gel at all. No wing players who can create their own shot...

                    We were brutal last year.

unless it was Jim Carrey and they mistook him for Carlisle

If I'm Bosh and Toronto is thinking about signing Turk to 12 million for 5 years, I know I'm gone next year.

That signing would ruin a man's prime years. Turk wasn't worth 12 million this year, and I can't imagine what he'll be like in 3-5 years. This would leave them with few, if any options other than resigning their current players.

LeBron and the Cavaliers have made a face to face offer for....*drumroll*....

                            RON ARTEST!

The Cavaliers have a lot of options in free agency but one of their first calls was somewhat surprising.

According to several league sources, the Cavs have been been in contact with Houston Rockets free agent forward Ron Artest. It even included a face-to-face pitch from LeBron James on Tuesday night in Los Angeles as both were in Southern California for various events.

Artest, who is an unrestricted free agent after his contract that paid him $7.4 million with the Rockets expired, is being courted by several teams. Artest is believed to prefer to play for a championship contender and in addition to the Rockets the Cavs may be getting some competition from the Boston Celtics for his services.

With the Rockets facing the uncertain injury status of stars Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady, it is unclear how hard they will try to push to re-sign Artest. They are pursuing Orlando Magic free agent center Marcin Gortat.

The Rockets have had interest in Cavs free agent Anderson Varejao in the past, which opens up some possibilities of a sign-and-trade scenario - though the Cavs have said they want to re-sign Varejao.

Artest played for coach Mike Brown when Brown was the associate head coach of the Indiana Pacers from 2003-05. He is the type of forward the Cavs would be interested in. He has the ability to stretch the floor because he has range to out to the 3-point line. He is an excellent defensive player and a former NBA Defensive Player of the Year who can guard a wide variety of defenders, which would fit nicely with James who can do the same.

What isn't clear is how Artest would fit with the Cavs. He does not have a background that fits the type of players the Cavs usually attempt to acquire. In addition to his role in the infamous brawl in Detroit five years ago has been suspended for pleading no contest to a domestic violence charge two years ago. In all, he's been suspended nearly a dozen times by the NBA.

However, he has been a good citizen for the last two years and helped carry the Rockets into the second round of the playoff last season.

He averaged 15.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Rockets in 2008-09.

Well, it says he wants a chance at a title and that both the Cavaliers and Boston have contacted him...so, I guess if he does, he has two options.

With the Yao news, It would not shock me that he left for a one year deal with a contender.
