I really hope Utah takes Knight. I really don't want him in Toronto. It would be a virtual lock though.

Chris Paul, Darren Collison, Jameer Nelson, Kyle Lowry, and Ty Lawson. All shorter than Kemba Walker.Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Minnesota is just dumb. Mortgage a top pick for an aging point guard, a position you already have a number of young bodies at. You know, the NBA should just close some teams down and Minny would be at the top of the list. (And I'm sure Nash will just embrace the opportunity to play for the TWolves).STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Yeah, I'm still baffled by Minnesota. I mean, you could say theyd use Nash as a mentor, but at the cost of the #2? Craziness.
Also, poor Nash.
Really doubt that happens, Minny is just super-shopping that pick.Follow me on Twitter@DrewGarrisonSBNComment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
the problem with Al Horford is Atlanta thinks he's a center and that can't be successful. he's a power forward. and the problem with that is he's right in the thick of an incredibly deep position. while i like al horford, i think his VALUE
is lower than his TALENT. if that makes sense.
i think if Cleveland puts him next to a healthy Varejao that can be a solid frontcourt. but Atlanta is not doing anything with Josh Smith and Horford as their frontcourt, so they may be trying to take someone bigger, though i don't think this is the draft to trade up and find a true center. i'd also rather get rid of Josh Smith than Horford too as i don't think you can win with Smith as your PF.
as for Utah... are they really considering taking Kanter? they're going to have Jefferson, Millsap, Kanter, and Favors?? jefferson and millsap have to be moved....Comment

Wolves eyeing Kanter - According to the latest reports.
Oh, the drama. Between Nash and Kanter, they really are trying to Kahn this one up to the maximum capacity.Follow me on Twitter@DrewGarrisonSBNComment

Taking Derrick Williams makes no sense for Minny.Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Makes plenty of sense considering the discrepency in talent. No reason to draft below the talent level of Derrick Williams - theyd be better off trading the pick than taking Kanter. Or taking D Will and flipping him eventually. But get the full value out of that pick, don't settle for need in a draft full of middling talent - aside from Irving and Williams.
I can understand they dont "need" Derrick Williams, but settling for Kanter is lazy and a waste of draft positioning.Follow me on Twitter@DrewGarrisonSBNComment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
It doesn't 100%, but honestly, they should be roasted if they don't take him.
I could understand if one of the Euro bigs were a homerun. But they're not.
Williams is probably the safest pick out of the lottery and has some nice upside. You draft him regardless. They're a young team and a rebuilding team. You take the best prospect available and worry about everything else later.
They have a glut of 3's but none of them are all that great and Beasley isn't exactly an untouchable asset or anything he can easily be moved for a big man or another shooting guard.
You can have Williams come off the bench and ease him in. No need to rush it.
In drafts you don't worry about needs and fit. You take the best guy out there. Especially in this starless draft.Comment

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Discussion Thread
Wow. I would love to see Al Horford in the lineup for the Cavs with Kyrie. Then tank this season and get a top-flight scorer in next year's draft. Wow. I'm way too giddy right now. That would be pretty legit. I HIGHLY doubt it happens but I might as well be optimisticComment

Also I'm enjoying NBATV showing all these past draft. Watching the '98 draft right now. Good stuff.Comment
