Only cause it didn't work out, yeah. He was a good hire in the sense that he helped turn around the Suns (plus he had the Pelicans doing okay previously).

Their roster construction has been horrendous - even with multiple top 10 picks & the #1 pick in '21 - and they still don't have an identity or direction in place.

Insane to fire a guy after one season when you've committed that type of money to him.

Detroit is an absolute mess, right now.

If Langdon just turns around and hires his boy J.J. Redick then this mess will only get worse. Although, how could you get worse then two straight seasons of winning in the teens?

And why wait so.close to Draft and FA if you are going to fire him. Langdon got hired 4 weeks ago, now you decide to fire him.

Langdon does have ties to Borrego with New Orleans. But, the Cavs might have that locked up already.

Monty had never proven enough to get the type of contract he got with Detroit which i think was the richest in league history. They won 14 games its not like they had that level of bad players. He has to get the majority of the blame for this because clearly he isn't a difference maker at coach or the players didn't listen to him

Monty didn't even want to coach, Detroit damn near forced him with their offer. His head wasn't in it, and you knew it, and you hired him for that amount anyway. Then, the results after a year of a coach flat telling you he's not in it, were clearly unfavorable... what did you expect? So that's it? He gone? Detroit is a disaster

maybe Pablo Torre will find out about Platinum Equity and get Tom Gores on the hot seat

Don't know about Riley's hiring with the Lakers, that was before my time, but Kerr was, aside from doing a broadcasting stint that you could say is somewhat comparable to being a high profile podcaster nowadays, the general manager of an NBA for at least 2 years as experience. Spoelstra grinded in the video room, for an actual NBA team (as in getting paid for it) for years working his way up the ladder.

BREAKING: The Chicago Bulls are trading two-time All-Defensive guard Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder for guard Josh Giddey, sources tell ESPN.
So they could have potentially gotten at least a first round pick for Caruso at the deadline and instead opt for....Josh Giddey straight up?

I will wait and see how this goes but I'm not enthused at all by this

I don't think it's a terrible value trade but I don't see how it makes sense for Chicago. Why move your best defender for a guys who's best strength is essentially being a secondary ball handler and play-maker when you have a ton of that already.

More moves from them have to follow for this to make any sense in my eyes.

Why they gotta gaslight us like this tho, everyone knows the reason for the hire

I remember John Wall's first years in the league being mentored by an assistant coach and that same coach is still waiting for a head coaching shot today.

It's not terrible value but it's still bad value. It's terrible if the reports that they could have gotten a lottery pick for him and this is what they walk away with. OKC has 40,000 picks and they couldn't pry one of them away from them?

I'm really more just frustrated with Reisndorf. He is just the worst. No matter who's in the front office he'll always sabotage whatever they want to do because he'll always have this stupid edict that he wants the team to "be competitve" to sell tickets without ever actually doing the things needed to be competitve. My dude wants to make the playoffs every year, but don't ever go into the luxury tax to do it. He literally lives for mediocrity because he won't allow them to offload players in deals that builds draft capital because he wants the team to be just good enough to look like they could make the playoffs to keep people coming to the arena and if you just so happen to luck into the postseason in your faking even better. I just need him to go away. He won't do it, but he needs to sell the damn team and enjoy his last few years.

Idk that Giddey is worse value than a lottery pick though. He’s a top 6 pick himself and has already proven he’s not going to be on the “bust” side of that coin. He was 17/8/6 last year at 20 years old before sliding back a bit to a lesser role with Chet coming on board.. and he’s proven to flourish in both, scale up the more usage of needed and can likely flirt with 20 a night triple-double output, scale back if needed and plays a role. I think he checks a lot of boxes.

I just don’t get it when White, Zach, Lonzo (if he’s back) and DeRozan in the half court all play with the ball. What’s Giddey’s role in that? He’s not a spot up shooter, he’s not even a great shooter to begin with. His strengths look more like a Lamar Odom, Hedo type where he’s part of your additional playmaking and ball handling.
