congrats to the Spurs, they're just flat out whippin my Pistons...not much I can say. Every time Detroit would make a run and cut it to a fairly close deficit, the Spurs would just have their own run. Hopefully Detroit can defend the Palace, just not sure they can win 4 out of 5 games vs. a great SA team.

Re: The OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread
so who was saying this series won't be boring? what a snoozefest. it may not be boring for the reason people were claiming, but regardless, this is some of the worst NBA finals actioni've seen since in a long time. I hope Detroit can step up at home and at least win 2 of 3Comment

Originally posted by ErodIf Kobe, Shaq, and Phil weren't feuding last year, I think the Lakers would've taken the title.
San Antonio is just proving the vast superiority of the west versus the east.
I think the feuding is a non-issue compared to Malone, and Fisher being injured. Plus, the Lakers were behind the 8ball when they didn't bring Horry back. Having that kind of game changing power forward is huge in a series. So, I dont see the Lakers beating Detroit the way San Antonio is doing it, primarily because San Antonio's bigs all run the floor, and defend the pick and roll.Comment

Shaq wanted out. Kobe wasn't barely talking to Jackson. Jackson was at odds with ownership and the players. Shaq and Kobe hated each other. They wanted the season over with.
I'm just not impressed with that team. In the west, they're a 5 seed at best. They maul that pathetic eastern conference, and they caught lightning against the Lakers, and now they're ability gets blown out of proportion.
The Lakers should have done to them what San Antonio is doing now.Comment

The days of the old Western Conference superiority BS is about as old as the NFC domination of the SuperBowl. Count the titles in the last 15-17 years... Looks pretty even to me. I believe it's 9 for the East and 7 for the West in the last 16. That...they'd only be a 5 seed in the West is based on nothing. If Detroit was LOCATED in the West... they would have a different record against the West.Listen to The Remodeling Clay Podcast!

You can't just judge a team based on talent anyway, the team chemistry is a big factor in separating good teams from bad teams. You already acknowledge the Lakers had terrible team chemistry last year, so how in the world would they be able to beat Detroit even if they were healthy? IMHO, the Lakers overachieved last year, and nothing more. They deserved to get beat and they were by the Pistons.Comment

Re: The OFFICIAL NBA Playoffs Thread
Early on, I'm likin the energy from the Pistons' frontcourt. Ben Wallace is everywhere and as you see, if Rasheed gets the ball down low on a consistent basis, its very hard to stop him. Rasheed Wallace is the only guy that can stop Rasheed Wallace. Billups, Ham and Prince must keep up with them. You want the frontcourt to stay in the game but it'll hurt in the end if you have to ignore the backcourt in order for them to shine. San Antonio will be OK if they just hold strong against a good Detroit start. Manu has a thigh contusion. Hopefully it isn't as bad as Shaq's and he can get back at it without it takin away from his game.Comment
