Each time I'd get knocked down I would then play it smart, work the body etc to either knock him out later in the fight or do enough to get the decision. I guess I've got to control myself before going in for the kill to accomplish this goal.
I got knocked down a few times early in my career and it taught me to be more careful. I probably got knocked down 3 or 4 times TOTAL in my last 20 fights or so, just because of that.

I did have one guy after I won my first Bantamweight belt that knocked me down twice in one fight. I ended up knocking him out late in the fight and he demanded a rematch immediately. I hesitantly accepted thinking "man, this guy can beat me".

I ended up pummeling him so bad that the ref stopped it in the 3rd. His eye was the size of a softball...a hamburger-colored softball.

Are these sliders good for 2 minute FightNow (Exhibition) mode? Does everybody use sticks for punching?

I think they are terrific for fight now. I have alot of great matches with them. I don't know about everyone else, but I am using the classic buttons. I can't use the stick.

I use them all the time in Fight Now, and I use both control schemes with equal efficacy.

I'm not interested in legacy or career mode. I find setting defensive AI at 0 on Champion level makes it to easy to target one side of the face with "cutting hooks".
PS:There should be a slider for "Block Breaking".

Yeah, it's pretty much pick your poison. Either you live with the cheesy timed counters on jabs, or you live with the CPU constantly giving up one side of his face. Either way it's cheesy, but there's no way to eliminate both.

Just wanted to big up these sliders again. They've breathed some life into my Danny Jacobs legacy mode. I'm getting some great fights.

                      I'm moving on to GOAT.

I started a new legacy with shaun's sliders so that I could get my "Upset of the Year" accomplishment.

Created a skinny 6'2" welterweight headbanger from London (complete with Union Jack trunks and Black Sabbath entrance music ) and am currently 34-3 and have just unified the middleweight belts after moving up in weight.

My 3 losses are to Cintron, Cotto, and Sugar Ray Robinson, and the only reason I lost is because they were 10-15 points better than me the first time I fought them.

I agree. I'm ready for some GOAT sliders as well. The game is just starting to get too easy to beat on champion. One thing I'm pretty sure of is that you cannot just switch from champion to GOAT and use your/shaun's sliders. Power at 10 just doesn't work on GOAT IMO. Let me know if you come up with any good GOAT sliders.

Looking back and thinking about it I don't think GOAT is the way to go. I noticed that on GOAT the CPU has an insane power advantage. In some of the past post Shaun is quoted at seeing this as well so I don't think GOAT sliders are going to feel realistic even if they do indeed make it harder to win.

What I did was put the CPU OFF aware and CPU DEF aware at 5/5.

I think this definitely makes the game much more challenging and keeps it realistic. I don't notice as many auto counters on the jabs. You just have to pick your jab spots better and also be prepared for the counter. Keep your distance on the jabs and make sure the CPU isn't covering up. Doubling up the jab is a bit harder but once you wear the CPU down you can still accomplish this. Anyway...I really think finding the right values in the CPU OFF and DEF awareness is the way to go from here. Possibly even making it something like 10/10 or 10/5 or 5/10 in the future.

Yeah, the AI does have a big advantage on GOAT.

But I'm not sure how else to handle it.

The two biggest issues I notice with mine and shaun's sliders as I get further in my legacy is that:

                            1) The AI doesn't adjust well on defense. Once you find a "spot" he'll often let you hit that spot over and over. If he starts to cover it up, a few shots somewhere else will get him to open it up again.

                            2) The AI takes WAY too much damage. As with my Flyweight legacy, this legacy ended with me winning 6 of my last 8 fights by TKO. Not only that, but NOT ONE went longer than THREE rounds.

Raising CPU defensive awareness screws with the jab. Even with it at zero, I still see some that I shouldn't see. I'm beginning to think that it's just a bug and can't be fixed with sliders.

Adjusting Power changes so many other mechanics in the game that it's just difficult to do. It would probably require a complete redo from scratch on all the sliders.

Bottom line - in two legacies, I was a combined 90-3 with well over 75 combined knockouts and TKO's. The 3 losses, as I mentioned earlier, were against real-life boxers whose ratings were at least 10 to 15 points higher than mine. I rushed up the ladder too quickly. If I had taken just a couple more fights on my way up, I probably could have avoided losses altogether.

Well, right now I'm playing on champion with

                              REF slider both 10
                              POWER 10
                              SPEED 2
                              DAMAGE 0
                              TOUGHNESS 10
                              STAMINA 6
                              ACCURACY 0
                              COUNTER WINDOW 0
                              OFF AI 5
                              DEF AI 5
                              PUNCH OUTPUT 5

I"m not noticing that auto jab that you guys complain about......I mean....I do notice they are better at countering but I've found ways to combat it. I should mention I use a fighter with a longer reach and have not experimented with a fighter with a shorter reach but...

-circle left or right while jabbing.
-be more prepared for the counter....stick the jab then get your block up
                              -jab to the body more.

I think the CPU adapts to your tendencies. IF i go to the body a bit early I notice it's easy to land my jabs to the head later.

I'll experiment with a shorter armed fighter but I think you should see an improvement if you circle on your jabs and wear down there body a bit. Don't go for the double jabs early as much.

My main problem right now is that I'm still out punching the CPU in every fight. I'm going to try and fix that by either raising the OFF awareness for the CPU a bit or by raising the CPU Punch output. I think you are going about it the wrong way by lowering the stamina. I think by getting the CPU to punch more aggressively it will not only raise their punch totals but lower mine because I'll be forced to defend more. Right now I"m throwing about 70 punches per round with my lightweight and the CPU throws around 45 to 50 on average. If I can just make them a bit more aggressive think the punch stats will even out on average.

Yup, I circle my jap and now I only see the auto jab counter if im spamming the jab, especially if im doing it inside.

I havent notice any power adavantages from the cpu on goat, they just land more flush shots than they do on lower levels...

Im 6-4 with 1KO(all to the cards) in my welterweight career right know with only one KO due to stoppage...Im bout to start over at lightweight and use the cheat so I can get some KO's early in my career...Im not a aggressive fighter, im more of a PBF mixed with Dirrell so KO's arent gonna come for me lol...I need that cheat so I can rack up on them early haha
