So you catch him in the clinch with RS up -- how do you drop them down into guard after that? Shogun did to me several times as Chuck, but I couldn't figure out how to do it. "Throw into rubber guard" -- that's LB + major transition, right?

Holy crap this game will break my brain when it comes out with the full roster... so much stuff to remember. At least the mechanics are basically the same, you just have to memorize everyone's special moves... still though, lots of commands. I'm used to NBA 2K9... which is complicated, but not like this.
    Before engaged in clinch

    RS + forward = Clinch
RS + Up = Block high and goes into clinch
RS + down = Block low and goes into clinch
    LB+RS+foward = Muay thai clinch

    Once in clinch
    RS+forward = advance clinch position
LB+RS+ forward = drop down with you in their guard
LB+RS+backwards = drops with them in your guard
LB+RS+ down or up = Throw to ground

    Muay Thai clinch
RS+ any direction = whip + legkick = Knee to head

Also you can Muay Thai clinch and hit RS+backwards to drop into guard...(I think that was it).

Great stuff though, it's awesome using Shogun and transitioning from all the positions. I was doing it on beginner to practice, but going to guard, rubber, side back, etc all becomes second nature after a while.

Sweet, thanks for that move list. The one in the game intimidates me for some reason... feels like I gotta flip all over the place to figure out what I want to do. I'm gonna be playing this all night when I get done with class...

Just so you know... You can pause the game and look at your action list during the game. It always shows you what you can do from whatever position you may be in, and if it's transitions, it shows you what mount you will end up in if successful.

That's kinda cool. I guess I get lost in the menu and don't realize what I'm looking at... I'll give it another look tonight and see if I can make more sense of it. Felt like I was just milling around in there when I looked last night.

It's gonna be crazy trying to remember all the various moves for different styles of fighter -- I'll probably have to pick 4-5 guys and get very good with them to have any kind of success. I'm sure most people will try to run with their one dominant guy online.

They key will be each fighter will have a strength and a weakness. Attacking that weakness and sticking to your fighters strength is going to be cool to watch. Very chess like. But if two guys don't match up well then it is just like real life. Just gotta fight your fight and see what happens.

I wonder what will GSP's weakness be?

                          Transition blocking is your friend.

So am I suppose to counter/mimic the exact move he does?...I did the tutorial, but I'm still a little foggy on how exactly to transition block.

Hold left or right to transition block, tap left or right to transition counter.

Just hold the right stick towards the opponent. You should see a visual cue of either your guy holding the back the head, wrapping a leg around a opponents leg, position body weight to prevent change on side control, etc etc.

Just hold either Left or Right on the right stick is all. Flicking it right as they attempt a transition will do a sweep
