During the free agency period, I did not get one contract offer.

The following day, I received a phone call to meet with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The GM offered me a 2-year, $1,010,000 contract to pitch in the bullpen for Dodgers. I quickly signed the contract and headed home to my parent's ranch to work out before heading to spring training.

I wasn't expecting that I would not get at least a nibble from the clubs. Thankfully, I'll take the 2-year offer to pitch in the Dodgers' bullpen.

Well, atleast you got a Major League contract. Even if it is in the bullpen, you'll probably get a shot at the rotation this year.

I mostly came out of the pen so that could have been the reason why I pitched better in the majors. But, then again, I did no-hit Arizona for 3 2/3 innings and no-hit Florida for 2 1/3 innings.

The scouts said that because my control is rated "F".

I'm number 6 in the organization so I should get the first crack at starting if/when a starter goes down.

The rotation sits Billingsley, Kuroda, Schmidt, Hochevar and Penny to start the season.

                Thanks for the replies, guys.

It's always fun to be at the home opener. Unfortunately, we are on the road in San Diego for the Padres' home opener. I make my first appearance of the season as I am called in to start the bottom of the 9th inning with the score tied 5-5. I struck out the first batter in a 1-2-3 inning and we head for extra innings. The Dodgers score two runs in the 10th another 1-2-3 inning, striking out another batter, and get the win as Los Angeles wins in 10 innings, 7-5.

I am back in for game 2 against the Padres as I enter the game in the bottom of the 8th with 1 out and the bases full plus 1 run has already scored this inning. I get the first hitter to pop out then I strike out the next hitter to end the inning. With two outs in the last of the 9th Kemp smashes a walk-off home run and we lose the game, 3-2.

Another game, another appearance. I am called in for the third game in a row to start the bottom of the 8th inning and the score is tied, 3-3. I give up a single in the inning then pitch the bottom of the 9th and went 1-2-3 with a strike out to keep the game tied at 3-3. I am lifted for a pinch hitter as we score a run in the top of the 9th but Rios couldn't hold the lead as he allows the tying run in the bottom half of the inning. The Padres went on to score twice in the last of the 14th on a walk off home run and the Dodgers lose, 6-4.

We are back in Chavez Revine and after almost a week off, I am called in to start the 9th inning with the Padres leading, 3-0. I pitch a 1-2-3 inning and struck out one as San Diego only allows 2 hits and the Dodgers lose another game, 3-0.

Back to the hill I go as I am summoned to start the top of the 9th against San Diego with the score tied, 1-1. I give up only a single in the 10th inning, striking out two, in two innings of work as I am pinched hit for in the last of the 11th. Loney hits a walk-off homer and the Dodgers win, 2-1.

The Saint Louis Cardinals are in town and I am called upon in the top of the 8th inning with two outs and the bases empty in a 1-1 tie and Albert Pujols coming to the plate. I strike out Pujols looking on a slider and that is it as I am pinched hit for in the bottom of the inning. The Cardinals ended up winning, 3-2, in 11 innings.

After a few days off, I get summoned from the bullpen in the bottom of the 6th inning with two outs and no one on against the Braves in Turner Field. I got the hitter out to end the 6th but I give up two hits, including a solo blast by Teixeira, in the 7th. I was lifted for a pinch hitter in the top half of the 8th inning so my work is done for the night. Atlanta ended up winning the game, 4-2.

We are now at Minute Maid Park in Houston facing the Astros. I get called into the game with 1 out in the bottom of the 7th and the score is 6-5 'Stros. After I get the first guy out, I give up a solo blast to Ty Wigginton. I finish the inning allowing a single after the homer and then get pinched hit for in the top of the 8th. The Dodgers went down to defeat again, 7-6.
