    Orioles Win Close Game!!!!!

In a close game, Orioles beat Yankees.

The Orioles came out on top of a close one with the Yankees last night, winning a tough 4-3 decision and sending the home crowd away with a few more smiles on their faces. Nick Markakis went 2-for-4, belted a home run, and drove in 2 runs to pace the offense. Jeremy Guthrie allowed 5 hits over 8 solid innings to record win number 8 of the season.

Game 2 of the series is tonight, as Troy Patton (0-0, 3.59) will go for the Orioles against the Yankees' Ian Kennedy (7-4, 3.71). Nick Markakis looks to build on his 19-game hitting streak.

Patton earns first career win as Markakis, O's blast Yankees!!!!!

Baltimore, MD - It was a scary night for anyone who stood in line at Boog's tonight at Camden Yards as the O's and Yankees combined for 6 home runs, 5 of them landing in the vicinity of the warehouse in right field. The Yankees got a pair of solo home runs from Hideki Matsui, in the 2nd and 4th innings, to give the "Bombers" a 2-0 lead. The O's then responded with a bang, scoring 9 unanswered runs, including batting around in the 4th to plate 5, sparked by a solo home run by Nick Markakis and a 3-run bomb by Ramon Hernandez. Markakis would then homer again in the 6th, a 2-run shot to blow the game open to 7-2 and then Millar capped it in the 7th with a 2-run home run of his own to make it 9-2. Troy Patton was stellar in picking up his 1st career win going 7.2 innings, giving up 2 runs on just 6 hits. The O's will look to sweep the hated Yankees tomorrow night.

                  Dodgers Win Going Away!!!!!

Dodgers get offensive in win, routing Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

The road wasn't so unfriendly for the Dodgers last night, judging by their fairly easy 8-2 win against the Phillies in Philadelphia. Matt Kemp provided the big stick on offense, clubbing 2 home runs and driving in 3 as part of a 3-for-5 day at the dish. Pacing the Dodgers was Jason Schmidt, who struck out 11 in his 8 innings of work, to earn his 4th win of the season.

The Dodgers play in Philadelphia again this afternoon, with ace Brad Penny (13-4, 2.73) slated to oppose the Phillies' Kris Benson (7-1, 4.64). Greg Golson looks to build on his 12-game hitting streak.

Orioles complete sweep as Yankees lay another egg at "Birds Nest"!!!!!

Baltimore, MD - Chien-Ming Wang came into this afternoon's affair at Camden Yards looking to add to his obsurd 17-3 record and solitify another vote for the American League Cy Young award, but the Orioles would have none of it. The Orioles continued to ride a red hot offense and took it to Wang this afternoon. The Yankees managed to get on the board first with an Alex Rodriguez single in the first, but the lead would be short-lived, as the Orioles responded in the bottom of the 1st, when they scored the tying run when Derek Jeter air-mailed the final out of the inning into the dugout, allowing Nick Markakis to score and even the game at 1-1. The O's then took the lead in the 2nd on a Brian Roberts single to left. Later in the 4th, Nick Markakis extended his hitting streak to 22 games, as the beast for the "Birds" knocked in RBI number 87 with a single of his own, scoring Brian Roberts and giving the O's a 3-1 lead. The Yankees cut the lead in half in the 7th on a Bobby Abreu single, but that would be as close as they would come. Melvin Mora delivered his 21st home run of the year into the bullpens in left center field in the 7th and Markakis did it once again in the 8th, doubling with 2 outs to plate Brian Roberts, making it a 5-2 game. George Sherrill would come into the game in the 9th and earn his 36th save of the year, getting Hideki Matsui to ground into a double play to end the ballgame. Adam Loewen was great, picking up his 4th win of the year by going 6.1 innings, allowing just 2 runs on 6 hits. The Orioles ride their 4-game winning streak as the White Sox come to town tomorrow night for a 3-game set.
