Myrtle Beach proves stronger than Palm Beach in game one of the "Battle of the Beach Series" as Chris Garia hits for the cycle!

Pitching matchup: Myrtle Beach- Cody Buckel (4-2, 3.35), Palm Beach- Tyrell Jenkins (3-2, 4.89)

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Texas Rangers won in easy fashion on Friday night, beating the first-place Palm Beach Cardinals by 7 on the road. The game was the first of a 3-game set in Palm Beach County, Florida.

The action started in the top of the third inning when , with one out, 1B Preston Beck was hit by a pitch and Myrtle Beach LF Chris Garia made em' pay for that mistake by hitting a home run over the left field wall for THIS 2-run bomb:

Myrtle Beach speedy outfielder Chris Garia hitting a 2-run HR in the top of the third inning against Palm Beach. Garia would go on to hit for the cycle.

2B Christopher Bostick was then hit by a pitch, catcher Jorge Alfaro drew a walk, and CF Nick Williams, who's on a hot streak, drilled a two-run double, giving Myrtle Beach an early 4-0 lead.

CF Nick Williams proves why he's one of the most highly touted prospect in the Rangers organization, ripping a two-run double against Palm Beach

Not much happened in the 4th inning, but the 5th saw the Pelicans add three more to their score total, thanks to a Hanser Alberto (SS) double to left center, scoring Nick Williams from 1st. After DH David Lyon and 3B Nick Vickerson failed to drive in Hanser from 2nd, RF Royce Bolinger wasted no time putting 2 runs on the board with a shot to left. Look at Royce admire his crunch-job :

Royce Bolinger watches it go in the top of the 5th

The top of the 6th saw Myrtle Beach begin to put in their subs after LF Chris Garia hit a lead-off triple. Alberto Truinfel pinch-hit for Christopher Bostick and on the 1st pitch Truinfel saw he knocked in Garia from third on a sac-fly, 8-0 MB.

Myrtle Beach got their 9th run of the game in the 7th inning when DH David Lyon would come around to score on a wild pitch. Lyon lead off the inning with a single. 9-0 Pelicans.

Palm Beach would get one run in each of their last three innings, but that wouldn't be enough to fend off the sizzling bats of Myrtle Beach.

            Pelican Standouts
LF- Chris Garia: 4-5, 2 RBI, HR, BB, 2B, 3B, SB
            CF- Nick Williams: 2-3, 2 RBI, 2B
RF- Royce Bolinger: 3-5, HR, 2 RBI
            SP- Cody Buckel: 5 IP, 2 H, 5 K

            FINAL SCORE

Pelicans Add Additional Dollar Beer Nights
              Fan Experience Prompts Additions
              MILB.com

              More_1_Beer_Nights_v1bx475u_kikrkgv1.jpg

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Texas Rangers, are pleased to announce that they are adding additional $1.00 beer nights to the 2014 line-up. Additional nights will include:

              Friday, July 11
              Monday, July 14
              Friday, August 1
              Monday, September 1

Prior to the season the Pelicans worked with the league office to make significant changes to their 2014 schedule. These changes resulted in the team having at least one home game each week, and allowing every tourist the opportunity to experience a Pelicans game while in Myrtle Beach.

"For us, it's all about providing a great experience to our fans," stated Senior Director of Community Development Jen Borowski. "With so many visiting from out of town we want to make sure they are able to experience as much of Pelicans Baseball as possible."

One such example is the nightly Kids Run the Bases promotion. Most Minor League ballparks, and some Major League parks, do the same promotion but only once a week. The Pelicans, with the ultimate fan experience in mind, do it every game. Following that same line of thought, the team has added four additional $1.00 beer nights to the 2014 season. The chosen nights occur during weeks without a traditional Thirsty Thursday.

"Thirsty Thursday is our most popular night with both locals and tourists," stated General Manager Andy Milovich. "When discussing our goals for the 2015 schedule with our owner, Chuck Greenberg, he commented 'wouldn't it be great to be home every Thursday?' We quickly realized that beyond the alliteration of Thirsty Thursday, the magic was in the 'Thirsty' and every visitor to the Grand Strand should have a chance to enjoy a great summer evening at TicketReturn.Com Field with a $1.00 beverage regardless of the limitations of our schedule."

Stadium Journey Magazine has ranked the Pelicans as a top three Minor League stadium experience and a top 25 stadium experience in all of sports the last two years. The magazine is currently evaluating MiLB parks for its 2014 rankings and Special Correspondent Harrison Huntley paid a visit to TicketReturn.Com Field earlier this month. Huntley's official review, titled "That's the Ticket", gave the Pelicans a FANFARE Score of 4.6 out of a possible 5.

For tickets to the August 2 or any Pelicans home game call (843) 918-6002, visit www.MyrtleBeachPelicans.com or stop by the Pelicans box office, which is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Pitching matchup: Myrtle Beach- Luis Parra (2-2, 4.14), Palm Beach- Kyle Helisek (2-2, 3.38)

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Texas Rangers were shot out of the sky in Jupiter, Florida on Saturday evening, thanks to a 6th inning grand slam by Palm Beach third baseman Ildemaro Vargas that tied the game at 5 a-piece.

After the Palm Beach Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning, neither team threatened the scoreboard until the 5th inning when Myrtle Beach would take a 3-1 lead. The Pelicans would score all three runs in the inning with two outs, including a RBI single to center by catcher David Lyon and a 2-run double by LF Chris Garia.

In the top of the 6th, the Pelicans were back in action. With one away in the inning, 3B Nick Vickerson singled to left and CF Nick Williams doubled to right, scoring Vickerson. That would lead to a Palm Beach pitching change but it wouldn't matter, as DH for the evening Alberto Tuinfel knocked in Williams on a sac-fly. 5-1 MB.

The bottom of the 6th saw the big blow of the game. With one out, Myrtle Beach starter Luis Parra gave up a grand slam home run off the bat of Ildemaro Vargas, his 4th HR of the season and first grand slam of the season. The bomb tied the game at 5.

The game would go back and forth in the 7th and 8th innings . Myrtle Beach LF Chris Garia picked up a 2-run single, but it wouldn't be enough as Pelican's relief pitchers Jose Monegro and Abel De Los Santos combined to give up 3 runs on 3 hits, including a solo bomb in the 7th inning.

                Pelican Standouts
                LF- Chris Garia: 3-4, 2B, 4 RBI
                SP- Luis Parra: 5.1 IP, 4 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 6 K

Myrtle Beach Pelicans (25-21) at Palm Beach Cardinals (26-20)

Myrtle Beach thrills in ten innings

Pitching matchup: Myrtle Beach- Andrew Faulkner (0-1, 3.30), Palm Beach- Dixon Llorens (2-1, 7.86)

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Texas Rangers needed a game winning swinging bunt in the top of the tenth inning to win last night in Florida to beat the Palm Beach Cardinals in game three of a three game set, taking 2 out of 3 on the road from the first place team in the north side of the division.

We'll catch you up to action in the top of the inning 4. SS Hanser Alberto and CF Nick Williams got the ball rolling with two singles followed by a Zach Cone (DH) walk. Catcher David Lyon then worked a walk, which allowed Alberto to waltz to home plate to score with no one out. After 2B Alberto Truinfel struck out looking on a 2-2 fastball low and away, in stepped RF Royce Bolinger. It's safe to say Myrtle Beach was in good hands with Bolinger. Royce ripped a line drive home run for a grand slam and just like that, the Pelicans had a 5-0 lead. If you don't believe me, take a look at the photo from Bolinger's grand slam:

Myrtle Beach's RF Royce Bolinger drove in 4 runs with this grand slam in the 4th inning during the Pelican's game three victory at Palm Beach

Palm Beach did get one run back in the bottom half of the inning from a solo home run, but Myrtle Beach still lead 5-1 heading in to the bottom of the 5th where we saw our next action on the scoreboard.

Unfortunately for the Pelican's skipper, Massey, the scoring wasn't done by his squad in the 5th. Instead, Palm Beach scored 4 runs to tie the game. The Cards got RBI's from CF Charlie Tilson who doubled, SS Cesar Valera who singled, and DH Bruce Caldwell who knocked in the tying run with a 2-out 2 RBI double. 5-5 tie.

The game would stay tied until the tenth inning. Myrtle Beach's SS Hanser Alberto lead off the inning with a ground rule double. After Nick Williams struck out, Zach Cone singled just past the second baseman advancing Alberto to 3rd. In Stepped catcher David Lyon, and here's the highlight of what he was able to do:

                  https://<iframe width="854" height="...reen></iframe>

The Myrtle Beach pitching staff wouldn't mess around in the bottom half of the 10th, and sealed the victory in the game, and the "Battle of Beach" series.

                  Pelican Standouts
                  SS- Hanser Alberto: 3-5, 2B, 2 R

MYRTLE BEACH,S.C.(JULY 22, 2014) - Early Friday morning, the front office staff of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans challenged their Vice President and General Manager Andy Milovich to receive an in-game prostate exam while singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the team's Prostate Cancer Awareness Night on Thursday, July 24. Milovich accepted the challenge but only if the Fierce Fallon Facebook Page reached 10,000 'Likes' by Thursday at 12:00 PM EST.

The Fierce Fallon Facebook Page belongs to Carolina Forest 10-year old Fallon Emery who is battling brain cancer. In December 2013, Fallon was diagnosed with brain cancer. Fierce Fallon's Facebook Page has showcased Fallon's courageous battle and incredible spirit. The community has rallied around Fallon and her Facebook Page to show both personal and financial support for Fallon and her family.

"Cancer has touched the Pelicans family in multiple ways over the last 12 months and we're happy that we can play a small part in drawing awareness and raising funds to assist in this fight," said Milovich. Myrtle Beach takes game 1 of 3 from Nuts, Wolff excels

Myrtle Beach starter Sam Wolff pitched well against Modesto, despite a lengthy cold streak weighing him down

Pitching matchup: Myrtle Beach- Sam Wolff (2-3, 6.07, CS), Modesto- Peter Tago (0-3, 13.34)

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Texas Rangers got 6 solid innings from right-handed starter Sam Wolff, despite Wolff being on an on-going cold streak. Wolff would only allow 1 run in 6 innings. He only struck out two Nut batters, but he trusted his defense and it paid off.

On to the game - Myrtle Beach put three runs on the board in the first inning after the Pelicans loaded the bases with one out. From there, SS Hanser Alberto drew a bases loaded walk and OF Nick Williams reached first safely off a Peter Tago throwing error. Massey then had catcher David Lyon put down a safety squeeze to get run number 3 of the inning in and give the Pelicans an early 3-run cushion.

The Nuts of Modesto did get one run back in the bottom of the first, however. Modesto got a clutch 2-out single that scored the lead off man who doubled to kick off the home half of the first.

In the top of the third, the Bird's Chris Grayson, who played left field, lead off with a single. Massey's new assistant Kenny-fcking-Powers had Grayson steal second with Hanser Alberto at the plate. Alberto moved Grayson over to third on a ground out and CF Nick Williams drove in Grayson from third. 4-1 MB.

Myrtle Beach SS Hanser Alberto turns two against Modesto Friday evening

Pelicans' skipper C. Massey wanted a little extra insurance in inning 9, and with runners on 1st and 3rd with 1 away, Massey had Chris Grayson safety squeeze in that insurance run.

Massey sent newcomer Justin Sprenger to the mound to finish off the 9th inning. Sprenger was recently received from the Texas Rangers' low-A affiliate, the Hickory Crawdads. Sprenger didn't have an easy first appearance but did manage 2 strikeouts after allowing the first two batters he faced aboard.

                          Pelican Standouts
LF- Chris Grayson: 3-4, 1 RBI
                          SP- Sam Wolff: 6 IP, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

Birds need 11 frames to claim victory over nutty Nuts

Myrtle Beach starter Cody Buckel has been an ace this season, coming back from a disappointing 2013 campaign. Last night he pitched 8.1 innings while striking out 6 but wouldn't factor in to the decision

Pitching matchup: Myrtle Beach- Cody Buckel, Modesto- Tyler Matzek

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Texas Rangers got their second night in a row of excellent starting pitching last night when the Pelicans defeated the Nuts on the road last night in front of 3,255 fans at John Thurman Field.

Modesto would strike the scoreboard first off of Buckel with a sac fly in the third inning, but that's the last run they'd put on the board until a dramatic 9th inning.

Skipping forward to the 7th inning, Myrtle Beach's OF, Nick Williams singled to kick off the inning and that base knock for Williams chased the Modesto starter Matzek, who had only allowed two hits to that point but had shown signs of tiring. MB INF Alberto Truinfel then grounded in to a fielder's choice but with one out and Truinfel standing on first, Pelican's DH Chris Grayson ripped a triple down the line, scoring Truinfel and tying the game at 1. After Myrtle Beach short stop Hanser Alberto was walked, right fielder Royce Bolinger grounded to right for a single, scoring Grayson easily from third with two outs. 1B Preston Beck would single next, and following him LF Chris Grayson would double in two runs giving the Birds a 4-1 cushion.

The bottom of the 9th saw that 4-1 cushion slip away quick. Pelicans' starter Cody Buckel would get the lead off man in the inning to ground out easily but then gave up a 2-bagger to the Nut's short stop. Kenny Powers, assisting manager Massey had a gut feeling about righty-relief pitcher Jason Knapp, and convinced Massey to go with him to replace Buckel. Knapp hasn't been good this season, but with a 3-run lead, Massey ran him out there. Knapp came in and immediately gave up an RBI single. Just like that, 4-2 Myrtle Beach. The Pelicans then sent out Justin Sprenger, another right handed relief pitcher, but that failed too, as with two outs, he gave up a 2 RBI double to center which tied the game at four and completed deflated the Pelicans hopes of a win. With the winning run on 2nd and 2 outs, Able De Los Santos came in for Myrtle Beach and got the final out to send the game to extras.

Myrtle Beach would need two extra frames to take home a victory. The Modesto bullpen was shaky in the 11th when they allowed back to back walks and Royce Bolinger (pictured below) claimed Player of The Game Honors with a 2-RBI double to left. Able De Los Santos would get the win, pitching the final 2.1 innings of the game while allowing only 2 base runners.

Birds sweep Nuts, win 4th straight behind 2 big homers and impressive debut outing for Bell

Pitching matchup: Myrtle Beach- Chad Bell (0-0, 0.00), Modesto- Brandon Erbe (3-3, 6.11)

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Texas Rangers made a roster adjustment prior to Tuesday's game. Left-hander Chad Bell was called up to make a spot start from Low-A Hickory, and he didn't disappoint. In fact, he might not be a temporary spot-starter for long if his start last night has anything to say about it.

Myrtle Beach third baseman Nick Vickerson has had big shoes to fill after Joey Gallo left Myrtle Beach for Frisco, but he's been a solid replacement, especially in the second inning of this ballgame, where he got the action started with a single. After a couple quick outs and Nicky-V on first, LF Chris Grayson decided it was time to unload. Take a look:

Chris Grayson puts two runs on the board for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans last night as the Pelicans picked up their 4th straight win

With the Birds up 2-0, starter Chad Bell got in to his only trouble of the game in the bottom of the third. Bell allowed a lead off single before retiring the next two batters he faced. He wouldn't get lucky enough to get out the inning unhurt, however, as he allowed one run on back to back singles. 2-1, MB.

Fast-forwarding to the top of the 9th, where the Pelican's Luis Mendez lead off with a single to center. David Lyon was the Myrtle Beach catcher with every day catcher Jorge Alfaro getting the day off. Lyon walked and with two Pelicans on base and no one out, Chris Grayson came through for Myrtle Beach once more, this time with an RBI single. After RF Royce Bolinger struck out chasing a 3-2 low fastball, 1B Preston Beck belted a middle-in fastball to deep left, a 3-run jack, providing some late-game fireworks to the scoreboard for the Pelicans.

Vains of Jenna was a Rock band formed in Falkenberg, Sweden during January 2005. They later moved to Los Angeles, California, though most of the band members now reside back in Sweden. On January 26, 2012, the band confirmed on Facebook and MySpace that they had "mutually and amicably" decided to disband. Pelicans manager C. Massey and GM Andy Milovich have teamed together to bring the rock band back together for one night in Myrtle Beach, 2 hours before game time. General admission tickets to the ballgame get you in early for the concert and of course the ballgame. Don't miss this excellent opportunity to be rocked!
