Wow looks like you may have caught a break with Portland upsetting Gonzaga. There is hope for an NCAA tournament berth!

Quick question: have you played all of these games yourself, or do you coach/sim them?

I play all the games. The only games I have simulated in this legacy are the ones where the game froze during the middle of the game and I didn't feel like replaying it. And that hasn't happened since season two, I believe.

That semi final game must have been a nail biter, hopefully the magic continues into the Dance

The team looks to have caught fire at the right time as you took the first round game and then upset the second seeded team in the 2nd. You also caught a break with top seeded, and nationalally ranked (I think), Gonzaga going down. Good luck against the Pilots.

Yeah, I didn't think I had much of a chance going into that game after being beaten handily by San Diego in the season finale, but I pulled it out!

Yeah, Gonzaga was in the top 10. They would have been VERY tough to beat. Portland is considerably weaker and I think I have a good chance at beating the Pilots.

San Diego, CA (AP) - Coach Frizzell would not be denied. After making eight straight NCAA Tournaments in his nine seasons at Princeton, Coach Frizzell looked to be on the wrong side of this year's tournament bubble, but that took a turn tonight.

The San Francisco Dons (20-14, 6-8 WCC) did the unthinkable, and with a NCAA bid on the line, won their three WCC Conference Tournament games to punch a ticket to the Big Dance and win the WCC Tournament Title.

Coach Frizzell stated, "We came in this tournament thinking, 'Let's win a game or two and punch a bid into the NIT.' Now, look where we are. We just played hard, executed, and really gelled as a team. I wish we could have played this well all year long, but I guess it's better late than never."

The Dons never really dominated this game over the Portland Pilots (18-13, 7-7 WCC), but the Dons remained in the lead for the vast majority of the game. The Dons held a 28-24 lead at halftime and never relinquished that lead in the second half on their way to their 69-64 victory.

Junior small forward Walter Proffitt was a bright light on the offensive end for the Dons tonight as he totaled 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. Bernard Mendoza contributed 8 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 blocks while Matt Owen paced the offense with 13 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals.

The Dons now await their NCAA Tournament seeding. As of right now, ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi projects the USF Dons as a #12 seed in the 2017 NCAA Tournament.

Buffalo, NY (AP) - The 12th-seeded San Francisco Dons (20-15, 6-8 WCC) made a ferocious comeback from 13-down at halftime to get a chance to win it in the final seconds, but fell short against a very strong Syracuse (24-9, 12-6 Big East) Orange team.

The Dons trailed Syracuse 36-23 at halftime, but USF responded with a big run to open the second half, eventually pulling within one point with the score 41-40 in Syracuse's favor.

Syracuse would eventually pull away to reclaim a seven-point advantage, but USF stayed in the game until the end.

The Dons made a run in the final seconds from seven down to pull within two points with 31 seconds remaining. The Dons would have to foul Syracuse to get a chance to win, or so it appeared. Instead, USF intercepted in the inbound pass and claimed possession with the score 69-67 in favor of Syracuse. The Dons would have the last shot with a chance to win it with a three or tie it with a two-pointer.

Matt Owen had been hot all game long. The freshman point guard had 20 points and was 4-4 on three-pointers until his final shot, which was ultimately the final shot of the season. Owen got an open look from beyond the arc with time expiring, but his shot clanked off the front iron and Syracuse walked away with a 69-67 victory.

"This is a tough way to lose, but we can hold our heads high that we played against a very strong Orange team and played them right until the end," said Coach Frizzell. "We could have given up hope when we fell behind by 13 at halftime, but we kept on trucking and it almost resulted in a victory."

In addition to Matt Owen's strong performance, Walter Proffitt also turned in a nice performance. Proffitt tallied 18 points on 7-17 shooting. In his final game, senior backup center Galen Pettway was rewarded with 25 minutes of playing time and responded with a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.

In the end, Syracuse was too strong to overcome. Hans Zimmerman led the way for the Orange with 19 points, 14 rebounds, 3 steals, and 4 blocks.

The Dons end the year with a 20-15 record and a WCC Tournament Title. All in all, it was a good year considering it was only Coach Frizzell's first year as head coach in San Francisco.
