Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
I see you just beat Robert Morris not long ago in your Rutgers legacy, so hopefully I can do the same!
I'll try to have an update tomorrow. I've been busy this week and will be watching the NCAA Tournament tonight, so I haven't had a chance to play the NCAA Tournament yet.Comment

Coach Frizzell Wins 200th Game, Tigers Advance to the Second Round
3/20 vs. #14 Seed Robert Morris
NCAA Tournament - First Round
Final: 69-48
Propelled by huge performances from Cassiand Swift (20 points, 13 rebounds, 5 steals) and Romain Bright (18 points, 5 rebounds), the Princeton Tigers easily rolled over 14th-seeded Robert Morris to advance to the second round. In the process, Coach Frizzell picked up his 200th career win. "It's a nice milestone, but it's just a number. Right now, I'm focused on Duke," said Coach Frizzell. The Tigers will take on #6-seeded Duke (25-11) in the second round on Sunday. In addition to Swift and Bright's strong performances, Benjamin McBridle scored 13 points and 3 rebounds while Wesley French paced the offense with 9 points and 4 assists.
Princeton is now 31-3 (14-0).

Blue Devils Overwhelm Tigers to Advance to the Sweet Sixteen
3/22 vs. #6 Seed Duke
NCAA Tournament - Second Round
Final: 76-85
"It's a let-down, but Duke is a great team. They have a ton of talent. They've been underperforming thus far this year, but they're coming on now, which is the time you want to be at the top of their game," stated Coach Frizzell after his team lost in the second round to the Duke Blue Devils. Princeton led most of the first half, but an explosive run at the end of the first half tied the game up at 39 apiece after one half of play. The Blue Devils' offense would continue to dominate in the second half, scoring 46 points to pull away. Princeton would get within three points with 1:30 left, but that was it as Duke sank their free throws and came away with a Sweet Sixteen appearance. Despite the loss, Princeton had several nice performances. Cassiand Swift (14 points, 12 rebounds, 3 steals) and C.J. Harrington (10 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals) formed a nice duo down low, controlling the painted area. The two kept Duke from doing much down low, but the Blue Devils were so accurate shooting jump-shots that it didn't matter. Romain Bright sank four three-pointers to end with 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists while Benjamin McBridle added 13 points to the losing effort.
Princeton ends the season 31-4 (14-0).

Press Conference
After losing in the second round the #6-seeded Duke Blue Devils, Coach Frizzell held a press conference to discuss the loss and the season with the media. "It's really disappointing that we couldn't advance, but we just have to suck it up and move on. We don't have any seniors on this team, so at least we don't have anyone's career ending due to this loss, but it's really a shame. This was a great team.
"That said, I am really excited about next season. We should be amazing next year as we mature and I think next year could truly be an amazing year.
"Whatever the case, this team is a lot better than last year's edition. Our new guys came in and played amazingly well considering their experience level while our older guys played up to expectations for the most part and led the team. This was a very young team and considering how good we were this year, you can't help but be excited about the future of this basketball program."Comment

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
Tough loss to Duke but they are in the ACC.
How the heck did you get that low of an RPI being in the small conference Ivy League? I'd throw another chair if I could get it that low!If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can read this in english, thank a soldier.Comment

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
Yeah, they were actually rated 94 overall as compared to my 88 rating, so I wasn't surprised by the loss at all.
It mostly had to do with the non-conference schedule. I was ranked in the top 10 in RPI at the end of non-conference play, if I remember right. Then, despite going 14-0 in Ivy League Conference play, I consistently fell in the RPI due to the weakness of the Ivy League. Playing in a small conference definitely hurts you.Comment

Cassiand Swift Declares
Following yet another marvelous season, Princeton's star center, Cassiand Swift, decided to forgo his senior season and head straight to the NBA, where he is projected as the #1 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.
"I understand his decision and I honestly think it's the right decision for him to make. You can always come back to school, but he needs to go while his draft stock is hot and this is his opportunity," stated Coach Frizzell. "I fully support him."
Swift graduates with 1,475 career points and 1,123 career rebounds. His career averages are 15.2 points per game, 11.6 rebounds per game, 1.7 assists per game, 1.4 steals per game, and 1.2 blocks per game. Swift shot 52.9% from the field over the course of his career.

Off-Season News
There weren't nearly as many Princeton fans holding their breath this year. The only power conference job available was Duke, but Coach Frizzell was not a favorite for that job. The most prestigious job besides the Duke job was at Wyoming. While Wyoming is located in a major conference, the Mountain West, the Cowboys aren't exactly a team that would seem to be able to lure a coach like Coach Frizzell away.
"I would like to announce that I'm staying. I hope to do more great things next year," stated Coach Frizzell in response to the Wyoming questions.
Coach Frizzell also received a six-year extension through the 2020-2021 season.Comment

The Replacements
Princeton only brought in one player this offseason with their one scholarship available, but it was a nice pickup. Four-star shooting guard Tim Robertson (#46 overall, #18 SG) is an excellent three-point shooter, and because of that, he will be a starter from the get-go.
Benjamin McBridle will be demoted to the bench in favor of Robertson. McBridle was fine with the decision stating, "I'm here to win. If the team is better with me coming off the bench, then let's do that. I just want to win a title."
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Recruiting News
2khoops.com analyst Lee Williamson has obtained the high school seniors Princeton's Coach Frizzell is after this season. Williamson stated, "Coach Frizzell has five scholarships available and he is currently targeting six players. I'm not sure if he's planning on using all his scholarships or not, but we may see a few other recruits get added to this list during the season.
"Coach Frizzell's #1 target is Clifford Anthony, a four-star power forward out of Indianapolis, Indiana. Anthony is Indiana's Mr. Basketball. He is the #100 overall recruit of the class and the 13th-ranked power forward.
"Coach Frizzell is also after Carlos Ramsey, who is an excellent point guard. He's a great shooter and a great passer, so he fits into Frizzell's system quite nicely.
"Coach Frizzell also has four other solid three-star players targeted. Overall, this looks like a nice crop of recruits and I think Coach Frizzell has a pretty good shot at a lot of them."
Here are the recruits Coach Frizzell is pursuing for the 2016 class:
1. Clifford Anthony 6'6 211 (Indianapolis, IN - #100 overall, #13 PF) 4* Mr. Basketball
2. Carlos Ramsey 5'11 165 (Austin, TX - #91 overall, #26 PG) 4*

Princeton Downs Manhattan to Start 1-0
11/8 @ Manhattan
Final: 72-62
The 25th-ranked Princeton Tigers kicked off their season tonight with a game on the road against the Manhattan Jaspers, last year's MAAC Champion. Early on, Princeton looked to be running away with it, but the Jaspers would come back and would only be behind 36-35 at halftime. However, Princeton picked it up in the second half as the Tigers would go on to win by 10 points. Coach Frizzell stated, "We didn't play great, but I think it had a lot to do with rust. This is our first game of the season and while we didn't execute very well, I'm not worried." The leading scorer tonight came from a player that was benched to start the season, Benjamin McBridle. McBridle responded with 18 points tonight and sunk 4-5 from downtown. Freshman Tim Robertson, who replaced McBridle in the starting lineup, only managed 9 points on 2-12 shooting, but he was excellent passing the basketball, as he led the Tigers in assists with 6. Point guard Wesley French only recorded 1 assist tonight, but he still scored 17 points on 7-12 shooting.
Princeton is now 1-0.

Princeton Knocks Off Southern Utah to Advance
3/10 vs. Southern Utah
NIT Season Tip-Off C - First Round
Final: 61-42
Once again, the Tigers struggled to execute on the offensive side of the ball, but they were stellar on the defensive end, holding the Thunderbirds to only 42 points. "I always stress defense and it looks like the guys are taking note. We didn't execute our offense as well as I would have likely, but we still played fairly well, well enough to win," said Coach Frizzell. The Tigers were led in scoring by Romain Bright. Bright had an excellent game as he tallied 18 points and 6 rebounds and willed the Tigers to victory. Benjamin McBridle had another excellent game off the bench as he totaled 13 points and 3 rebounds. The Tigers will take on the UAB Blazers in the next round of the NIT Season Tip-Off tomorrow in College Station, Texas to decide who will travel to New York to take part in the NIT Season Tip-Off Final Four.
Princeton is now 2-0.

Tigers Headed to New York
11/11 vs. Alabama-Birmingham
NIT Season Tip-Off C - Championship Game
Final: 83-48
The Tigers shook off the cobwebs tonight as they absolutely destroyed a quality UAB Blazers team that was run out of the building. "We couldn't have played any better. Not only did we continue to play stifling defense; our offense came along, as well, and was instrumental in our blowout victory," beamed Coach Frizzell. The Tigers were led by freshman Tim Robertson, who tallied a career-high 15 points to go along with 3 steals. Wesley French also had a great game as he totaled 12 points, 6 assists, and a career-high 6 steals while Romain Bright added 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists to the winning effort. The Tigers will take on Valparaiso in the NIT Season Tip-Off Final Four next Wednesday.
Princeton is now 3-0.

Princeton Escapes From the River City With a Win
11/14 @ Memphis
Final: 66-63
The Princeton Tigers recovered from an early 10 point deficit to rally back to win a close game against the Memphis Tigers in Memphis. Princeton trailed by as much as 10 points in the first half and trailed by 5 points at halftime. Memphis continued to lead throughout most of the second half, but Princeton came up when it mattered and nabbed the victory. Memphis had a chance to tie it up late, but their 35 foot Hail Mary shot was an air-ball and Princeton walked off the court with a win. Once again, Benjamin McBridle came up with a huge game as he scored 18 points on 7-11 shooting. "Maybe we shouldn't have made him a starter last year because he seems to be excellent coming off the bench," beamed Coach Frizzell. Tim Robertson managed 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists. Elliah Townsend finally found his game tonight as he knocked down several jump-shots on the way to a 14 point, 7 rebound effort. "That's his game," explained Coach Frizzell. "Elliah (Townsend), being a big man, can get some open mid-range jump-shots off and he can certainly nail them. He can't shoot the three real well, but he can shoot a pretty high precentage in from 14-18 feet out."
Princeton is now 4-0.

I'm going to have to catch up on this dynasty one of these nights because it is great from what I have read. Looks like your team went from being able to dump down to your stud big man to relying on your shooters. Should be interesting to see the change of philosophy.Comment

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
Thanks. We've always shot a lot of jump-shots, but the way of getting them is now changing. For the last three years, we've fed the ball to Swift a lot and let him go to work. He was a great passer and could oftentimes find guys for open shots. Plus, when he got doubled, that opened up the perimeter. Now, we have absolutely no post game, so we have to rely on picks and screens to score. It's gone okay so far, but I still think we're going to miss Swift.Comment
