Best of luck in the 2016 NCAA Tourney. Sucks that your potential 2nd round match up will be against familiar foe (Gonzaga or Valpo). CH has a tendancy to do that on occassion....
    Thanks.

Yeah, the NCAA probably wouldn't do that in realy life, but oh well. At least I know I should be able to beat either team, though, so that's sort of a plus, I guess.

      Tigers Outlast Utes to Advance

Philadelphia, PA (AP) - The #3-seeded Princeton Tigers (29-4) outlasted the #14-seeded Utah Utes (17-14) 86-76 this evening to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament against the winner of tonight's Gonzaga/Valparaiso game.

The Tigers took an early lead and never looked back. The Utes kept the game within their grasp, but every one of their runs fell short. The Utes made one final run in the closing minutes to cut the deficit to five, but it wasn't enough as the Tigers pulled away to win by double-digits.

"I really loved the resiliency we showed out there tonight," stated Coach Frizzell. "Utah made some runs, but we still managed to keep our composure and secure the win."

The key to the Tigers' win tonight was their free throw shooting. Princeton went to the line a season-high 31 times and converted 27 of those attempts into points. That adds up to 87% free throw shooting, which will give you a lot of wins.

"We work on free throw shooting a lot in practice and it's been paying dividends all year long, as evidenced by the fact that we're shooting 80% from the line on the year," said Coach Frizzell.

Elliah Townsend led the way with 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals. Tim Robertson also had a huge game with 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists while Wesley French paced the offense with 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals. Romain Bright was the only other Princeton player to get into double-figures as he ended with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals.

Deanthony Towe's 18 points and 6 assists led the way for Utah. Akil Tafo also played well, contributing 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 assists to the effort while Carldell Smithson added 15 points and 3 assists.

Bright's 33 Points Leads Princeton to the Sweet Sixteen

Philadelphia, PA (AP) - Romain Bright's 33 points propelled the #3-seeded Princeton Tigers (30-4) past the #6-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs tonight.

Bright scored a career-high 33 points and shot 6-9 from three-point range. He also go to the free throw line 13 times and converted 11 of them.

"I just had it going tonight and everything was falling," said Bright.

Elliah Townsend just missed a double-double as he tallied 13 points and 9 rebounds. C.J. Harrington added 11 points and 7 rebounds while Wesley French ended with 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. Tremmell Christensen also added 10 points off the bench.

Princeton jumped out on top early on and took a 10 point lead by the 10 minute mark in the first half. The Tigers led by 16 points at halftime and easily cruised through the second half comfortably ahead, continually staying ahead by 12-20 points.

"We played very well tonight," stated Coach Frizzell. "Bright was awesome, but it just wasn't him. Everyone played well and it was a great effort. We beat the Zags earlier this year by just a few points, but this one was essentially over by halftime."

The Tigers will play the #2-seeded Tennessee Volunteers (28-5) in the Sweet Sixteen. The Volunteers dispatched the #10-seeded UCLA Bruins 85-66 in the second round to reach the Sweet Sixteen. They also beat #15-seeded North Dakota State 94-61 in the first round.

Tigers Head to the Elite Eight After Clutch Shot!!!

San Antonio, TX (AP) - The #3-seeded Princeton Tigers (31-4) knocked off the #2-seeded Tennessee Volunteers (28-6) out of the SEC tonight as Princeton made some clutch plays in the final minute of play to secure the victory at the Alamodome.

With just 45 seconds remaining, Wesley French had the ball at the top of the circle with the Tigers up one. He haphazardly lobbed a pass out to his left to Romain Bright, but it was picked off. A Tennessee player got in front of French and opened up the fastbreak. French was able to catch up in time to force a foul on the shot, but the Volunteers swished both free throws to go up one. French would be the scapegoat.

But then, on the ensuing possession, French redeemed himself. French missed a driving layup with 30 seconds left, but grabbed his own rebound. Amidst the chaos following the offensive rebound, he found a wide open Elliah Townsend out open beyond the three-point line. Townsend had struggled to only 3-9 shooting and was 0-3 from behind the arc, but he made a huge play this time. Townsend got the ball, took the open shot, and sank it. The ball clanked in off of several caroms and it looked like the ball might bounce out before it fell in.

Fortunately, Townsend sunk the shot to put the Tigers up by two points with just 30 seconds left. Tennessee turned the ball over on their ensuing possession and C.J. Harrington sank both free throws to seal the game as the Tigers went on to win by a final score of 88-85.

"This is huge for us to get back to the Elite Eight!" beamed Coach Frizzell. We're just a couple of years removed from our last Elite Eight appearance, when we made it to the Final Four, but it still means a lot. I'm really anxious to see if we can make it to the Final Four in St. Petersburg, Florida!"

Romain Bright had another superb game as he tallied 32 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals. He has now scored 32+ points in two consecutive games. 22 of his points in this one came in the first half as he cooled off in the second half. He was deadly from the free throw line, where he sank 14 of 15 attempts, or 93%.

Wesley French paced the offense with a career-high 7 rebounds to go along with 12 points. Elliah Townsend ended with 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists while Nikola Tolic came off the bench to deliver 9 key points.

Tennessee was led by Shane Hancock and Vern Whitney. Hancock, a senior small forward out of Atlanta, Georgia, scored 20 points to go along with 7 rebounds. Whitney was an absolute monster on the glass, where he grabbed 15 rebounds to go along with 18 points and 3 steals.

#4-seeded Boston College dispatched the #8-seeded South Florida Bulls by a score of 76-68 in the other Sweet Sixteen matchup in the South Regional. The Eagles (24-9) hail out of the ACC, where they went 12-4 in conference play, and boast an RPI of 7. The Tigers will face off against Boston College on March 27th, 2016 on a Sunday afternoon.

Eagles Embarrass Tigers, Head to the Final Four

San Antonio, TX (AP) - The #3-seeded Princeton Tigers (31-5) had their season ended tonight by the #4-seeded Boston College Eagles (25-9). The Tigers were sluggish out of the gate and fell behind by double-digits early on.

The Tigers continued to struggle throughout the first half, particularly on offense, as they only scored 23 points in the opening half of play and were behind 41-23 at the break.

Princeton would fare much better in the second half as they put 50 up on the scoreboard, but it wouldn't be enough. The Tigers were able to get within 12 points with four minutes remaining, but after some costly fouls, the Eagles went to the line and drilled their free throws, stifling Princeton's comeback attempt and securing themselves a spot in the Final Four in St. Petersburg, Florida.

"This loss is tough to swallow because I felt that we played very poorly in the first half," stated Coach Frizzell. "I felt like we played pretty well in the second half, but our offense in the first half was just terrible. Perhaps it was poor game-planning on my part; I'm not sure, but it wasn't a pretty sight, that's for sure.

"Still, we can't let this ruin a great season. Getting to the Elite Eight is no joke and we've made quite a run. It would have been great to get to the Final Four and I felt that we had the talent to do it, but I don't think many are disappointed in our performance in the tournament. After last year, many expected us to get bounced out early in the tournament again, but we proved them wrong and secured an Elite Eight."

C.J. Harrington ended his career with 9 points and 5 rebounds. Tim Robertson led the team with 15 points and three three-point field goals. Romain Bright was 0-4 from downtown, but he still managed 11 points. Still, 11 points is a far cry from his back-to-back 30 point games in his previous two outings, so his performance, or lack thereof, likely played a large role in the Tigers playing so poorly.

Boston College was led by W.M. Moss, who ended with 20 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists. Melvin Agbal added 18 points and 5 rebounds while Jeremy Deren, who only averages 7.0 points per game on the season, totaled 19 points and 3 rebounds.

You keep moving that one step closer with PU. You got the Tigers to the Elite Eight. That in itself should get you a couple of possible power conference head coaching job, I would think. Good luck in what you decide, a step out and up or get tangled up in "Ivy".
