    Princeton Downs Duquesne

11/13 vs. Duquesne - 2K Sports College Hoops Classic - Semifinals

    Final: 79-55

In a battle between two undefeated 4-0 teams, the Princeton Tigers and the Duquesne Dukes battled it out in a tough first half with neither team gaining much of an advantage. However, Princeton's talent would eventually come through in the second half as the Tigers would start hitting everything with five minutes left and would wind up with a 24 point victory. Coach Frizzell commented, "We played really well tonight and there's not too much to criticize. The Dukes came into the game shooting over 47% from three-point range and we held them to a stunning 3-30, so our defense was certainly on their game." Princeton will take on #4 Marquette in the championship game of the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic tomorrow night. Romain Bright had a nice game as he tallied 17 points and 6 rebounds in the game. Cassiand Swift had yet another double-double as the predicted #1 NBA Draft pick wound up with 12 points and 16 rebounds. Meanwhile, down low, C.J. Harrington added 9 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals.

    Princeton is now 5-0.

Tigers Knock Off Marquette, Win 2K Sports College Hoops Classic

11/14 vs. #4 Marquette - 2K Sports College Hoops Classic - Championship Game

    Final: 75-67

Princeton won its first tournament under Coach Frizzell tonight as the Tigers knocked off #4 Marquette 75-67 to win the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic. Coach Frizzell beamed, "We played great tonight and the key to our win was our defense, as evidenced by the fact that we forced 27 Marquette turnovers. It wasn't all us as they simply weren't very careful with the ball, but this is a huge win for us and definitely something to build on." Cassiand Swift got to the free throw line early and often as he sank several free throws at the end of the game to seal it after Marquette got within two points late in the game. He shot 11-12 from the charity stripe and totaled 19 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals. Romain Bright added 13 points and 3 rebounds while Benjamin McBridle tallied 9 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 steals. Wesley French only managed a single assist in the game, but he still shot 5-6 from the field to end with 12 points.

    Princeton is now 6-0.

Princeton Stays Undefeated With Road Win Over Boise State

    11/16 @ Boise State

    Final: 91-77

The Princeton Tigers moved to 7-0 tonight as the Tigers managed to slip past the Boise State Broncos to remain undefeated this season. Princeton only owned a 41-38 halftime lead, but the Tigers outscored the Broncos 50-39 in the second half to earn the victory. "The Broncos put up quite a fight, but as we've done several times this year, our superior talent eventually wore them out in the second half," stated Coach Frizzell. Nikola Tolic came off the bench to lead the team in scoring as the freshman guard tallied 14 points and 3 assists. Cassiand Swift (10 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists) and C.J. Harrington (10 points, 7 rebounds) teamed up down low to deliver solid games while Wesley French ended with 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.

    Princeton is now 7-0.

    Mid-Major Top 5 News

Despite starting off 7-0 with an impressive 2K Sports College Hoops Classic Tournament Championship, the Tigers only earned a #4 ranking in the first mid-major top 25 poll of the season as the Tigers came in ranked below Gonzaga (3-0), Fresno State (4-0), and Bradley (2-0). Coach Frizzell responded to the polls by saying, "I really thought we had a good shot at the AP or Coaches' Top 25 as I think our resume is very impressive, but obviously we can't do enough to get ahead. It doesn't matter, anyways, as the only thing that matters is the Big Dance."
    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    Press Conference

Coach Frizzell held a press conference today to talk about how his team has performed thus far this year. He said, "This team has been very impressive this year. I honestly think that this may be the best team that I've ever coached, possibly better than the Final Four team we had two years back. We have a nice starting five and a lot of talent coming off the bench. What more could I want?"

Coach Frizzell was also asked about how this year's freshman are coming along. "Some of them are getting a lot of playing time and it's playing off. They've really developed a lot faster than I anticipated, but I guess they had to considering we lost so much of our bench this past season to graduation. Elliah Towsend (8.0 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 2.6 APG) has really played well and has earned his role as backup to C.J. Harrington and Cassiand Swift down low. Also, Nikola Tolic (7.1 PPG, 1.6 APG) has came along well as an excellent three-point shooter. I think they may be future stars.

"Everyone else on the team has been playing well, too. We really have a great team and it's a joy to coach them."

      Princeton Blows Out Golden Bears

      11/18 @ California

      Final: 92-67

This game appeared to be a tough one before the season started, but the Golden Bears are just not as good as advertised, as evidenced by their 2-3 start and their 25 point whipping put on by the Princeton Tigers. Coach Frizzell stated, "This game was nice because we got up 42-24 at halftime and we were able to bring in our backups. That way, our starters will be rested for tomorrow's game against New Orleans in the Great Alaska Shootout." Cassiand Swift led the way with 14 points and 11 rebounds and Tremmell Christensen came off the bench to sink 5 of his 6 shot attempts to tally 12 points and 3 assists.

      Princeton is now 8-0.
      -----------------------------------------------------------------
Princeton Moves on to Second Round

11/19 vs. New Orleans - Great Alaska Shootout - First Round

      Final: 99-68

Princeton easily cruised past the New Orleans Privateers tonight to move onto the second round of the Great Alaska Shootout. "We just flat out dominated tonight," stated Coach Frizzell. Princeton will take on an undefeated 4-0 Kansas team in two days in the semifinals of the Great Alaska Shootout. Cassiand Swift dominated down low with 20 points and 9 rebounds while Nikola Tolic came off the bench to hit four three-pointers to end with 17 points. Wesley French also paced the offense with 8 points and 5 assists to lead the Tigers to a 31 point victory.

      Princeton is now 9-0.
      -----------------------------------------------------------------
      Princeton Sneaks by Kansas

11/21 vs. Kansas - Great Alaska Shootout - Semifinals

      Final: 70-64

"This was a back-and-forth game and we just displayed more will and determination at the end and were able to come away with the win," beamed Coach Frizzell. His Princeton Tigers and the Kansas Jayhawks played a very entertaining game tonight and it was tied at 62 with just under two minutes to play. However, Princeton would take over, as they often have in late-game situations this year, and make it look like a bigger win than it was. Wesley French went 4-6 from three-point range as he continues to have the hot hand from deep. He ended with 19 points and 4 rebounds. Nikola Tolic has been impressive thus far this season and continued to look great tonight as he went 3-4 from beyond the arc to end with 16 points and 3 assists.

      Princeton is now 10-0.
      -----------------------------------------------------------------
Princeton Wins the Great Alaska Shootout

11/22 vs. Idaho State - Great Alaska Shootout - Championship Game

      Final: 67-51

Idaho State was the Cinderella team in this tournament. They came in at 0-4 and didn't appear to have a chance, but then proceeded to knock off quality NC State and Butler teams to advance to the Great Alaska Shootout Championship Game. Their run would end there, but they played the Tigers closer than most expected and held Princeton's high-powered offense to a season-low 67 points. Coach Frizzell stated, "I have to give Idaho State credit. They played with a lot of pashion out there and gave it their all, especially on the defensive end. We played pretty well, so it's creidt to them for keeping the game so close." Cassiand Swift had the best game of this year as he dominated with 22 points, 18 rebounds, and 4 blocks tonight as he took advantage of the fact that shorters and smaller players were guarding him. Wesley French continued his strong play with 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists while Elliah Townsend added another 8 points to the winning effort.

      Princeton is now 11-0.

You should be ranked nationally considering the wins in the tournaments. The team has been very impressive so far.

Defense Folds in Loss at Seton Hall

              11/26 @ Seton Hall

              Final: 83-92

Princeton's high-powered offense was back on track after only managing a season-low against 67 points last week against Idaho State, but it was the defense that faltered today. Seton Hall scored 92 points, 50 of which came in the second half alone, as they torched the Princeton defense throughout the game en route to a nine point win over their in-state rivals. "We haven't been the best defensive team all year and I guess it finally caught up to us. Our offense has been great and it was great tonight, but you just cannot afford to give up 92 points and expect to win," explained Coach Frizzell. Even so, Cassiand Swift had the game of his life. The junior center totaled a career-high 37 points and 12 rebounds. However, other than Jarrad Lemons (15 points), Swift didn't get a lot of help from his supporting cast and the Princeton offense wasn't able to generate the amount of points needed due to the ineptness of the defense.

              Princeton falls to 11-1.

Princeton Bounces Back With Blowout of Sacred Heart

              11/29 vs. Sacred Heart

              Final: 85-55

Princeton returned home today following their 82-93 loss this Wednesday to Seton Hall and put on quite a show, never missing a beat in a 30 point blowout of Sacred Heart. "We came right out of the gates and just pounded Sacred Heart. It was nice to see that we got over Wednesday's loss to Seton Hall and were able to bounce back this way," commented Coach Frizzell. Cassiand Swift followed up his 37 point performance in his last game with another solid performance today, as he tallied 14 points and 18 rebounds tonight. C.J. Harrington (12 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists) also played well and just missed a double-double. Tremmell Christensen came off the bench to tack on 10 points while Nikola Tolic went a perfect 3-3 from downtown to end with 13 points.

              Princeton is now 12-1.

11/30 - First Day of Fall Signing Period

Princeton picked up a huge commitment today in 6'4 shooting guard Tim Robertson. Robertson, a four-star prospect, hails from Minneapolis, Minnesota and was named Minnesota's Mr. Basketball this season. Says 2Khoops.com analyst Lee Williamson, "Coach Frizzell was very selective this year being that he only had one scholarship to hand out and I feel that he gave the scholarship to the right guy. Robertsen is an excellent shooter and really excels shooting the three-pointer, something Coach Frizzell loves to do. I think he'll fit right in."

Here is a look at Robertsen, the lone recruit of Princeton's 2015 recruiting class:

I have no idea. The polls are screwy in this game, so I don't put too much stock in them. Luckily, they have no meaning because, unlike college football, we have something called a playoff!

Tigers Sneak Out With a Win Over Rutgers

                    12/2 @ Rutgers

                    Final: 53-52

Princeton's powerful offense just wasn't getting it done today, but the defense stepped up and stifled the Rutgers offense, allowing the Tigers to pick up a huge win over their rivals at the RAC. Outside of Tremmell Christensen, who shot 3-4 from downtown, the Tigers struggled from beyond the arc and from the field overall. "We had plenty of open looks, but we couldn't knock them down. Fortunately, our defense stepped up big today," beamed Coach Frizzell. Cassiand Swift was the only Princeton player in double-figures as he tallied 12 points and 9 rebounds. Ashley Acasio came off the bench to deliver 8 points and a pair of steals while Tremmell Christensen knocked down three three-pointers en route to 9 points.

                    Princeton is now 13-1.

Princeton Falls in Overtime at Gonzaga

                    12/4 @ #4 Gonzaga

                    Final: 84-92 (OT)

The #4 Gonzaga Bulldogs and their perfect 9-0 record proved to be too much for the Princeton Tigers as Princeton lost just its second decision of the year, this time in overtime. Princeton and Gonzaga were tied at 31 at the half and Princeton led 72-69 with just 2.5 seconds left and Gonzaga had the ball at the opposite baseline. A fullcourt lob got the ball about 30 feet from the basket, then a miracle shot brought the game to overtime, where Gonzaga would dominate. "That miracle shot was really deflating to this team and I think we just lost it after that once we got to overtime," explained Coach Frizzell. Romain Bright had a great game, tallying 20 points and 3 rebounds. Cassiand Swift picked up yet another double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds while Wesley French bounced back from a scoreless performance two days ago against Rutgers to add 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists.

                    Princeton is now 13-2.

Princeton Bounces Back With Blowout Victory Over UMBC

                    12/6 vs. Maryland-Baltimore County

                    Final: 73-44

The Princeton Tigers returned home after their loss at Gonzaga two days prior and put on a show against the Maryland-Baltimore County Golden Retrievers, putting on their best defensive performance of the season. "We played great on the defensive end, which is great to see considering we gave up 20 points in overtime against Gonzaga," commented Coach Frizzell. Romain Bright led the Tigers in scoring for the second consecutive game as he totaled 14 points and 3 rebounds. Elliah Townsend came off the bench to hit 5 of 7 shots for 10 points and 7 rebounds while freshman sharpshooter Nikola Tolic hit 4-5 from three-point land for 12 points. Cassiand Swift struggled scoring today as he only added 6 points, but he did get 14 crucial rebounds in the winning effort.

                    Princeton is now 14-2.

Princeton jumped out to a dominating 45-17 halftime lead and put it on cruise control for the second half in this one as the Tigers dominated. "Our starters got us such a huge lead that we got to put in our second string and give them some valuable playing time," said Coach Frizzell. Caissiand Swift led the way with his 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 3 blocks while fellow starters Wesley French (11 points, 3 assists) and Romain Bright (9 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists) also delivered solid efforts. Elliah Townsend added 7 points and 10 rebounds off the bench and Nikola Tolic was lightning from downtown as he ended with 13 points.

                    Princeton is now 15-2.

Great legacy, Ive followed it since December and bought this game because it seems so fun! I have to say it didn't disappoint, even w/out patch. I'm wondering two things though... one is what is Cassiand Swift's draft buzz? because centers tend to have lower rating than other players and be better, and what is his potential also, because if its over an A he might leave early. Two is, do you play the all america game too? because you signed an all american, that mustve felt pretty nice, and i love playing the game with players i sign. just some questions, love reading this and im anxious to see your next posts!

Cassiand Swift's draft buzz is "Top Pick" and his potential is a B, so I'd say it's safe to say that he's gone after this season.

I don't usually play the All-American Game because I never usually expect to have anyone in it. I just lucked out getting French and Swift that year. That was a special recruiting class.

                        Thanks for the kinds words.

Princeton Loses at the Buzzer at Texas A&M

                          12/27 @ Texas A&M

                          Final: 66-67

The Princeton Tigers lost their third game in their past seven tonight as the Texas A&M Aggies sank a dagger shot with time expiring to give them a 67-66 victory over the Princeton Tigers in College Station, handing Princeton its third loss of the season. "This is a tough one, but we competed hard and just couldn't quite pull it out in the end," said Coach Frizzell. Cassiand Swift (14 points, 7 rebounds) did all he could to help propel his team to victory, but he didn't get much help as Romain Bright (14 points) was the only other Princeton player in double-figures in the losing effort.

                          Princeton is now 15-3.

                          Final: 82-73

The Princeton Tigers closed out their non-conference slate tonight with a solid victory at home against a 6-6 Portland team. The Tigers were reeling a bit in the first half and the score was knotted up at 37 at halftime, but Princeton outscored the Tigers 45-36 in the second half to seize the victory and post a 16-3 record heading into Ivy League Conference play. Cassiand Swift was dominant as he lit up the stat sheet with 20 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 4 blocks. "Swift is a phenomenal player and he'll have an excellent career in the NBA," commented Coach Frizzell about Swift's great all-around performance. Romain Bright was no slouch, either, as the sophomore forward totaled 15 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals while Benjamin McBridle added 13 points and 3 steals in the Tigers victory. Elliah Townsend sank two huge threes off the bench to end with 10 points and 4 assists.

                          Princeton is now 16-3.

                          Press Conference

Heading into conference play, the Princeton Tigers are favored to go undefeated in Ivy League Conference play for their third consecutive season. Coach Frizzell commented, "Obviously, we can go undefeated and we have proven that in past years, but we're not overly concerned about posting a 14-0 record in Ivy League Conference play. Our main objective is to win the conference and everything else will fall into place."

Coach Frizzell was also asked about how his team had lost three of its last eight games after starting the season off 11-0. "No, not really. We didn't want to lose those three games, but we're not going to be in panic mode, either. We made the Final Four two seasons ago only going 14-4 in non-conference play and we were even better this year going 16-3 with a pretty difficult non-conference slate. We're fine."

Princeton Opens Up Conference Play With Blowout Win

                            1/17 vs. Dartmouth

                            Final: 94-49

Princeton opened up conference play with a dominating win over the Dartmouth Big Green by virtue of 18 three-point baskets and a stifling defense which never let the Big Green offense get into rhythm all game long. Coach Frizzell commented, "We played great defensively, but I loved seeing what we did shooting the basketball. We drained 18 of 33 three-point baskets in this game and that is impressive. We took smart shots and it paid off, as evidenced on the stat sheet." The leader of the three-point parade came off the bench as freshman Jarrad Lemons, who had been in a shooting slump coming into this one, drained five three-pointers in eight attempts and ended his impressive showing with 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals. Benjamin McBridle joined Lemons with four three-pointers of his own to end with 14 points and 3 assists while point guard Wesley French came off the bench to total 14 points and 6 assists. Nikola Tolic (11 points, 3 assists) delivered a solid game while Ashley Acasio totaled 10 points in the game, a new career-high for the freshman guard.

                            Princeton is now 17-3 (1-0).

                            Final: 92-61

For the second straight game, Princeton made a living off the three-pointer and for the second straight game the Tigers eclipsed 90 points. The Tigers upped their 33 three-point attempts from last game and attempted 46 three-pointers tonight, making 21 of them. Benjamin McBridle led the three-point barrage with a career-high seven three pointers on 13 attempts to end with 21 points, also a career-high. Romain Bright also went 5-8 from three-point range to end with 15 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists while Jarrad Lemons (15 points) and Nikola Tolic (15 points, 3 rebounds) also were in double-figures. "We really played well tonight and took smart, open shots. I like what we're doing now and if we keep on shooting the ball like we are, we're going to be great," said Coach Frizzell.

                            Princeton is now 18-3 (2-0).

                              Final: 69-67

Princeton came up big when it mattered. Despite floundering in the first half to a 50-30 halftime deficit, the Tigers mounted a huge comeback in the second half as their defense stepped up, holding the Columbia Lions to just 17 second half points after allowing them to get halfway to the century mark in the first half. In the end, Wesley French would drive to the left and put up a layup. The ball was kissed off the backboard, bounced on the from of the iron a couple of times, and fell in as the buzzer sounded to give the Tigers a relieving 69-67 win to save a disastrous upset. Coach Frizzell commented, "That was a huge play and we just played a great second half. We just didn't come out to play early on and it nearly cost us our first Ivy League Conference loss in years." Wesley French, who hit the winning shot, ended with 12 points and 4 assists while Benjamin McBridle nailed a couple of threes to end with 11 points and 3 assists. Romain Bright played well as he tallied 15 points and 7 rebounds while Cassiand Swift was dominant down low, totaling 11 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 assists in the close win.

                              Princeton is now 19-3 (3-0).

                              Final: 63-49

For the second straight game, Princeton had trouble with an inferior team in the first half, this time against the 5-13 Cornell Big Red. The Big Red led by as many as 10 points in the first half before Princeton came to their senses to grab a slim 29-27 lead at the end of the first half. Princeton never really got into rythm in the second half, either, but it was enough to pull out a lackluster 14 point home victory over Cornell. "Simply put, we didn't play very well," explained Coach Frizzell. Romain Bright (15 points, 3 steals) and Cassiand Swift (16 points, 20 rebounds) were the only Princeton players to top 10 points in the game, though Nikola Tolic (8 points) and Ashley Acasio (6 points) did hit some key shots off the bench, combining for 5-6 shooting from the floor and 3-4 from downtown.

                              Princeton is now 20-3 (4-0).
