Princeton Romps Cornell
2/21 vs. Cornell
Final: 82-54
The Princeton Tigers continued their winning ways tonight as Coach Frizzell's Princeton Tigers won their 12th consecutive game. "We played very well tonight in all facets of the game," commented Coach Frizzell about his team's performance. Wesley French starred with 18 points and 4 assists. "He keeps on getting better every game. He'll be a star next year," Coach Frizzell said confidently. Cassiand Swift also had a nice game with 14 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 blocks while Cedric Tchana ended with 9 points and 3 steals.
Princeton is now 20-6 (9-0).

A Baker's Dozen!!!
2/22 vs. Harvard
Final: 73-59
Princeton won it's 13th consecutive game tonight against the Harvard Crimson, but it was no easy task. Princeton found itself down 34-33 at halftime, but Coach Frizzell rallied the troops at halftime and Princeton went on a 40-25 second half run to win by 14 points. "We really need to start to play more consistently. We can't have these sort of games happening come tournament time," explained Coach Frizzell. Romain Bright had a fine game as the true freshmen went 4-6 from three-point range to end with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Cassiand Swift (14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 blocks) and C.J. Harrington (12 points, 9 rebounds) teamed up to form a tandem in the low post while Cedric Tchana (13 points, 3 assists) and Wesley French (8 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists) doubled up to combine for 9 assists.
Princeton is now 21-6 (10-0).

Mid-Major Top 10 News
It seems that the Tigers simply cannot gain any traction in the polls. Despite winning their past 13 games, Princeton still sits ranked #10 in the mid-major top 10 poll. UL-Lafayette (23-4) has been atop the poll for nearly the entire season and doesn't appear to want to relinquish that spot anytime soon.

Tigers Roll Past Bulldogs and Win Ivy League
2/28 @ Yale
Final: 81-56
The Princeton Tigers used a tremendous effort from their frontcourt as Tigers easily rolled over the Yale Bulldogs by 25 points. Princeton clinched the Ivy League tonight, as well, as no team can mathematically catch up with the Tigers now. Romain Bright seems to be starting to fit the mold of the great Wendell Lalugba now as he totaled 18 points and 4 rebounds in tonight's game. Cassiand Swift had another dominating game on the glass with 16 rebounds to go along with 3 blocks and 14 points. C.J. Harrington got in on the action with 12 points and 3 rebounds. Even the bench frontcourt got going as forward Denis Graham logged quite a few minutes in the blowout as he tallied 8 points and 5 rebounds. "It was really nice to get an easy win. That last game was a little too close for comfort," sighed Coach Frizzell. "We're glad to win the Ivy League again, though. Some people may think it gets old, but it doesn't get old and we enjoy it each and every time!"
Princeton is now 22-6 (11-0).
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Princeton Pulls Away in the Second Half to Win
3/1 @ Columbia
Final: 73-56
Princeton once again found itself in a dog-fight early on with the 4-22 Columbia Bulldogs, but Princeton pulled away in the second half for another easy victory. "I'm glad we've been able to pull away easily in the second half in these sort of situations, but the game shouldn't be so close at halftime in the first place," beamed Coach Frizzell. A surprising star in backup point guard Marin Collins stepped up big today. The senior out of New Zealand, playing the final road game of his career, went a perfect 7-7 from the field tonight and ended with 16 points and 3 steals. Princeton's stars struggled as Swift, Bright, and French only went 6-23 from the field, but other players stepped up like C.J. Harrington (13 points, 8 rebounds) and Denis Graham (11 points, 8 rebounds). Coach Frizzell said, "Our starters aren't always going to have good games, so it's nice to see our role players pick up the slack when they're off. It's nice to have that luxury."
Princeton is now 23-6 (12-0).

Princeton Blasts Past Dartmouth
3/7 vs. Dartmouth
Final: 84-63
Senior guard Cedric Tchana, in his second to last home game, had the best game of his career. He shot 6-11 from downtown and 9-14 overall to end with a career-high 26 points, breaking his previous career mark of 20. He also collected three steals. "It was really nice to see him have a great game tonight and I hope he can keep on making shots in the NCAA Tournament," beamed Coach Frizzell. Cassiand Swift also had a nice game, totaling 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists while C.J. Harrington tacked on 8 points and 13 rebounds.
Princeton is now 24-6 (13-0).

Princeton Tops Brown on Senior Night
3/8 vs. Brown
Final: 63-55
"We played pretty sluggishly, but we still got a win for our seniors and that's the important thing," exclaimed Coach Frizzell as his seniors completed their final game at Jadwin Gym. The Tigers really stepped it up on the defensive end on an off-night shooting the basketball as the Tigers force 22 Brown turnovers in the win. Romain Bright led the team in a low-scoring affair tonight as he tallied 13 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and a career-high 6 steals. C.J Harrington totaled 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals while Cassiand Swift only added 11 point sand 6 rebounds to the effort. Marin Collins, a senior, also had a nice game as he tallied 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Princeton ends to regular season at 25-6 (14-0).

Mid-Major Top 10 News
The Princeton Tigers slipped one spot in the latest mid-major top 25 poll as the Tigers are now ranked #8 in the the poll. Princeton has won 17 straight games, but given that most of it has been against lowly Ivy League competition, it hasn't helped the Tigers out too much.

Selection Sunday
As was expected, the Princeton Tigers received a #12 seed in this year's NCAA Tournament. The Tigers will take on the #5 seeded Virginia Cavaliers (23-11, 9-7 ACC) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in San Diego, California. The Tigers were placed in the West Regional. The Cavaliers are currently ranked #21 in the AP Poll.
"We're really excited about another chance to make another run into the Big Dance like we did last year," beamed Coach Frizzell. "We may not have as high of seed as we did last year and the road may be tougher, but we've been playing pretty well lately, so it will be interesting to see how we can do now that we're facing off against the big boys again."
The Cavaliers are coming off a horrid 84-41 pasting by the #1 seeded Duke Blue Devils (27-5) in the ACC Semifinals, so the Cavaliers may be looking to rebound from that embarrassment. Meanwhile, Princeton has won 17 straight, but all against relatively weak competition, so it will be interesting to see how these teams stack up to one another on the floor.
These two teams actually met up in last year's NCAA Tournament in the second round. The Cavaliers seemed to have the game in hand late, but Princeton battled back and come away victorious. You know the Cavaliers will be looking for some payback in this one.Comment

Princeton Ousted in First Round by Virginia
3/20 vs. #5 seed Virginia - First Round
Final: 73-82
"We had a great season and we shouldn't be ashamed. There was a reason they were the #5 seed and we were the #12 seed. We put up quite a fight and kept the game within our reach, but we just couldn't pull it off," said Coach Frizzell following his team's first round loss in the NCAA Tournament. Much like these teams' last meeting in last year's NCAA Tournament, Virginia led just about the entire game by 3-9 points, but the Tigers were within reach. However, unlike last year, Princeton couldn't come back to win the game. The Tigers only made one three-point basket and senior sharp-shooter Cedric Tchana was 0-5 from beyond the arc and 2-12 overall from the field, not the way he'd probably like to end his career. Cassiand Swift (17 points, 13 rebounds) and C.J. Harrington (10 points, 6 rebounds) came up with a ton of offensive rebounds and got quite a few putbacks to help ease the shooting woes, but it just was not enough. Romain Bright carried the team in the second half with 13 second-half points and ended with 17 points and 3 rebounds overall in the game.
Princeton ends the season 25-7 (14-0).

Press Conference
Coach Frizzell's team suffered a disappointing loss in the first round of the NCAA Tournament this year, but he's still keeping the outlook positive. He said, "We were undefeated in the Ivy League and we still made an appearance in the Big Dance. I don't think there's too much to be disappointed about. I don't think anyone, including myself, expected to make another appearance in the Final Four again. We have a lot of youth on this squad and only one senior starter in Tchana. This team was good, but we were not great."
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Princeton Senior News
Princeton loses five seniors this year, but only one of them was a major contributor in Cedric Tchana. "This class may not have been the best in the world, but these guys worked hard and made some key plays over their careers, so it will be sad to see them end their college careers," said a teary-eyed Coach Frizzell.
The biggest loss is shooting guard Cedric Tchana and his 10.3 points per game from this past season. Tchana's best season was his first when he averaged 12 points per game and shot 42.7% from three-point range. He also won Ivy League Freshman of the year and was placed on the Second-Team All-Ivy League Team that year. His career averages per game are 9.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.4 steals. He shot 43.9% overall over his career graduates as a career 35.4% three-point shooter.
The Tigers also lose Marin Collins, their backup point guard. Collins never started a game over the course of his career, but he did back up Marcus Shroeder, Reynold Gross, and Wesley French, so it's not like he couldn't have started on most teams. Collins was never spectacular at any one thing, but he didn't really have any weaknesses in his game, either. He graduates averaging 4.7 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game over the course of his career. He shot a high percentage of 50% over his career and graduates as a 32.9% three-point shooter.
Timon Michad was a key guy off the bench for his first three years, but he mysteriously faded off in his final year, only shooting 30.6% from the field and 17.1% from three-point range. However, he still owns career averages of 5.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game and is a career 31.4% three-point shooter.
Vernon Dodd was pretty much a fixture at the end of the bench for his entire career as he was the third-string point guard behind Marin Collins. He didn't do much on the floor besides come up during mop-up duty. His career averages per game are 1.4 points and 0.6 assists. He was 20-39 from the field in his entire career, good enough for a 51.2% shooting percentage, but a lot of those were layups.
Francis Waleskowski never developed into much of an offensive presence, but his 7'1, 291 pound frame was imposing and allowed him to get rebounds. He was the backup center until this last year, when he was moved back to third-string behind JUCO transfer Denis Graham. Waleskowski averaged 1.9 points and 3.8 rebounds over his career and shot 46.9% from the field.

Kirby Guzman Transfers
Kirby Guzman, a forward who has ridden the pine for the most part during his first two years at Princeton, has decided to transfer to Boston University. Guzman only averaged 1.5 points per game and the Princeton coaches said that he has had a tough time adjusting to the team's playing style. Coach Frizzell commented, "I wish he would have stayed as I think he would have had a good chance to play in the next couple of seasons, especially if we moved him to power forward, but he felt it was best for him to move on. I fully support him and wish him the best in his future endeavors."
With Guzman's departure, the Tigers lose six players off their 13 man squad from last year. Cassiand Swift will be back for his senior season, which is a good thing for the Tigers.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Off-Season News
There was people holding their breath this year around Princeton as their were very few job openings at the top. There were only 20 job openings overall and only two from major conferences. Coach Frizzell was passed over for the Maryland job, but was offered the South Carolina job. There was also a job opening at Charlotte, but Coach Frizzell was not offered. Coach Frizzell was #1 on every other team's list including UL-Lafayette, who was ranked #1 in the mid-major top 25 poll and received a #7 seed in the NCAA Tournament, where they were promptly kicked out in the first round.
Coach Frizzell held a press conference to announce his decision. "I have decided to come back to Princeton for an either year," he said. "I have no real desire to leave for any of the schools I was offered at as most of them are nothing more than a lateral move. I hope we can do some great things next year and I have a good feeling. I think this recruiting class will be solid, so next year looks promising, especially since we return four starters."

Recruiting News
5/18 - Final Day of Spring Signing Period
The Princeton Tigers reeled in five recuits this year to fill the holes that will be left behind from six departing players from this past year's team. 2khoops analyst Lee Williamson stated, "Coach Frizzell has brought in a really nice class. All five players are three-star caliber players and they really fit his system well. They all appear to fit the team's needs. I don't know if there are any stars in this class, but that may change with development and once we actually see these guys play a real game, we should be able to make a better determination.
"Coach Frizzell had these guys as his top five targeted players to begin the season, so it appears he pulled in all the guys he wanted. I guess that shows how Princeton's success over recent years is really starting to pay off in recruiting."
This year's class is ranked 27th in the country.
Here is a list of Princeton's five recruits:
1. Ashley Acasio 6'4 186 (Brooklyn, NY - #155 overall, #32 SG) 3*
2. Nikola Tolic 6'5 204 (Croatia - NR overall, NR SG) 3*

The Replacements
Princeton signed a stellar class of five players this off-season, all of which are solid three-star prospects. All of them should see some minutes this year. None will be starting, but all five should see plenty of time off the bench and should contribute right away.
Elliah Townsend (#206 overall, #33 PF) appears the player most ready to contribute. Townsend is an imposing 6'10 and 244 pounds and he's only a freshman. He is a beast on the glass and is developing a potent post game as well. He'll be he #3 big man behind starters C.J. Harrington and Cassiand Swift, so he should see plenty of minutes coming off the bench.
Jarrad Lemons (#213 overall, #40 SF) and Ryan Sommerville (#194 overall, #39 SF) will back up Romain Bright at small forward. Both are in a heated battle over who will eventually grab the backup small forward role and this position battle could last well into the regular season. Both have impressed coaches so far.
Ashley Acasio (#155 overall, #32 SG) and Nikola Tolic out of Croatia are good three point shooters who will back up both point guard Wesley French and shooting guard Benjamin McBridle. Tolic sports an interesting release which is very reminiscent of Brent Barry's shot a few years back when he was in the NBA.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Recruiting News
2khoops analyst Lee Williamson has given us an update on the players Coach Frizzell appears to be tracking down this season. Princeton only has one scholarship to offer, but has seven targeted recruits, including five four-star recruits, all of which were only three-star guys last year. "Coach Frizzell seems to have a knack for finding diamonds in the rough and it appears that he has done it again," said Williamson. "I'm surprised he is going after so many guys, but I guess he figures that he can at least get one if he targets so many." Here is the list of targeted recruits by priority.
1. Tim Robertson 6'4 199 (Minneapolis, MN - #46 overall, #18 SG) 4* Mr. Basketball
2. Courtland Sockwell 6'0 173 (Reading, PA - #53 overall, #15 PG) 4*
3. Cliffone Mikulas 6'6 210 (Shreveport, LA - #40 overall, #6 SF) 4*
4. Elmore Guasco (Queens, NY - #52 overall, #5 PF) 4*
5. Boyd Desilos (Charlotte, NC - #31 overall, #10 SG) 4* Mr. Basketball
6. Percy Gakou (Spartanburg, SC - #203 overall, #18 C) 3*
7. Dumar Kounkorgo (Cameroon - NR, NR C) 3*

Your team is very young but it is stacked with good-to-great talent. PU should continue to dominate the Ivy League as long as you are there, which should be a very long time since you are picky as to where you want to coach. If you can read this, thank a teacher. That is fine.
Yes, I've been going at this off-and-on for almost a year. If I would have played this more consistently, I could probably be around the 15th season, but I didn't play a whole lot through the summer and fall, opting more towards NCAA Football 09.Comment

Huge Second Half Blasts Princeton Past Alabama A&M
11/6 vs. Alabama A&M - 2K Sports College Hoops Classic A - First Round
Final: 85-57
"We didn't play very well early and only held a 32-22 halftime advantage, but we came together in the second half and absolutely destroyed Alabama A&M," beamed Coach Frizzell following his team's 28 point season-opening victory.
