    Off-Season News

After posting a 25-9 record and making it to the Sweet Sixteen, Coach Frizzell was expected to get job offers flowing in if they opened up. However, very few good jobs opened up this off-season and no power conference jobs opened. The only possibly desirable job openings were at San Diego State and Toledo. Coach Frizzell was not offered by San Diego State, but was offered by Toledo. He was also offered jobs by all other job openings including American, Albany, Maine, and many others.

Coach Frizzell held a press conference on whether he would stay or leave for the Toledo job. "I didn't even have to think about this one. I will be staying! There were no desirable job openings for me and I love it here and hope to get deep into the NCAA Tournament next year."

Coach Frizzell was offered a 4 year extension by the Princeton athletic department which he immediately accepted as his contract ran out this off-season with the Tigers. "I am happy to sign," commented Coach Frizzell with a big smile on his face.

    Princeton Lands Big Transfer

Reynold Bross, a point guard formerly with the UCLA Bruins, has decided to transfer to Princeton due to lack of playing time in Los Angeles. Bross is rated a 77 overall. Bross has a good stroke from downtown. He will have to sit out his junior year to transfer. Bross is a sophomore. He was a 4 star recruit and the #79 overall recruit of his class. He was the #33 rated point guard.

    Recruiting News

Princeton was able to get a solid recruiting class this season as they Tigers brought in 4 three star recruits and 2 two star recruits. Though Princeton missed out on Elmore Diaz, they still raked in a very nice class. "I was impressed with what Coach Frizzell assembled here," stated 2khoops.com analyst Lee Williamson. "He was not able to bring in Elmore Diaz, unfortunately, but he brought in a lot of other talent which is sure to help the Tigers next year and beyond." This gives Princeton the 111 recruiting class of 2010.

Here is a look at every member of the 2010 recruiting class:
    1. Timon Michaud 6'4 195 (Baltimore, MD - #221 overall, #40 SF) 3*
    2. Cedric Tchana 6'4 198 (Cameroon - NR, SG) 3*
    3. Marin Collins 6'1 170 (New Zealand, NR, PG) 3*

      Recruiting News

After the long summer, 2khoops.com analyst Lee Williamson has given an update on the recruits Coach Frizzell and his staff have been contacting. Williamson stated, "Coach Frizzell and his staff seem very persistent on getting Ron Heinen. With only 1 scholarship to offer this year, Coach Frizzell wants to use his scholarship wisely. Heinen seems to be the perfect guy for Coach Frizzell. Ron is a huge guy at 7'0 and a dominating 279 pounds. He reminds me of Shaquille O'Neal a bit with his size. Coach Frizzell is in desperate need of a big man down low. This would be a big signing for Coach Frizzell." Coach Frizzell also has targeted 3 other guys, but his best bet seems to be Ron Heinen.

      1. Ron Heinen 7'0 279 (Philadelphia, PA - #437 overall, #33 C) 3*
      2. Tremmell Christensen 6'6 204 (Detroit, MI - #243 overall, #62 SF) 3*
      3. Perry Bazin 5'11 173 (Baltimore, MD - #230 overall, #75 PG) 3*
      4. Butch Mayer 6'4 204 (Columbus OH - #625 overall, #139 SG) 2*
      -------------------------------------------------------------------------
      The Replacements

After a Sweet Sixteen appearance and a second straight Ivy League Championship, Coach Frizzell and his staff all return looking to bring home a third straight conference title. Coach Frizzell and his 2 assistants, Coach Dearmon and Coach Torres, have been together throughout this magical run of success in Princeton, New Jersey.

The Tigers bring in a talented recruiting class which looks to make an impact right away. Cedric Tchana hails from Cameroon and decided to travel to the states all the way from Africa to play basketball for Princeton. He is a 6'4 shooting guard and should make an impact immediately. He will immediately be a starter as Coach Frizzell has moved Renardo Rodriguez, last year's starter at shooting guard, to the point guard position after the loss of Marcus Schroeder to graduation.

Timon Michaud will be the primary backup behind Wendell Lalugba and should see some time backing up Cedric Tchana as well. Michaud, a 6'5 small forward from Baltimore, MD, was the 221st rated recruit of his class and the 40th rated small forward. He should make quite an impact this season.

Princeton also brings in a trio of point guards in Marin Collins, Diamond Zahn, and Vernon Dodd. Neither will probably start this year or next year with the arrival of UCLA transfer Reynold Bross next season. The 3 point guards will have to battle it out for playing time. They will probably see some action backing up Cedric Tchana as well.

Francis Waleskiowski becomes Coach Frizzell's first 7 footer he has recruited. Waleskiowski does not have much talent, but at 7'0 264 lbs., he certainly has the size to grab some big rebounds. He will play quite a bit as as a backup down low.

Yeah. You don't recruit them or anything. They just come randomly. My guess is that he saw how we were pretty weak at point guard, so he thought he would join us since he would be a sure starter.

            Princeton Blows Opener at Marist

            11/7 @ Marist

            Final: 73-75

Princeton got off to a rocky start on the road against Marist as the entire team looked very rusty. "Marist had already played one game, but this was our first game. We were very rusty and our shots were not falling. We will be fine, though. Marist is a very good team, so there is no shame in losing on the road against them," stated Coach Frizzell. Every Princeton player scored in double-figures in the game, but it was not enough. Renardo Rodriguez tallied 11 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals, but only shot a mere 4-13 from the field. Freshman Cedric Tchana also was cold from the field as he only managed to go 5-14, but did pick up 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Wendell Lalugba tallied 15 points and rebounds while Martin Sow (10 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists) and Ferdinand Djordic (12 points, 4 rebounds) commanded the low post. The bench only managed 15 points in the loss, however.

            Princeton begins the season 0-1.

            Princeton Wins Home Opener

            11/13 vs. Bethune-Cookman

            Final: 83-62

Bethune-Cookman traveled up from Daytona Beach, Florida to take on the Princeton Tigers. The Tigers got off to a fast start, taking a 16 point halftime lead, and went on to win by 21. Renardo Rodriguez played very well as he picked up 17 points and 3 rebounds. Wendell Lalugba struggled mightily shooting the three ball as he went 1-6 from downtown, but still managed to tally 11 points and 5 rebounds. Ferdinand Djordic picked up a fine double-double down low as he totaled 13 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman small forward Timon Michaud was surprising as he came off the bench at crucial moments to tally 12 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals. "Timon is very strong and has the ability to post up and drive the basketball. He is not a great shooter, but a very dominant player. He really could make an impact this year," Coach Frizzell explained.

            Princeton is now 1-1.
            -------------------------------------------------------------------------
            Princeton Edges Past Elon

            11/16 vs. Elon

            Final: 71-68

"We played horribly tonight," beamed a very frustrated Coach Frizzell. "We may have came away with the win, but we did everything wrong today. We couldn't hit the broad side of the barn from three point land where we went a lousy 1-12. We turned the ball over 18 times and were very careless with the basketball. This is a day to forget. We should feel lucky we came away with the win against a lackluster Elon team." Wendell Lalugba had the worst game of his collegiate career tonight as he only scored 2 points off of 1-7 shooting, including 0-5 from downtown. Luckily, other players like Renardo Rodriguez (11 points, 4 rebounds) and Cedric Tchana (13 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists) stepped up. Down low Martin Sow picked up his first double-double of the year as he tallied 10 points and 11 rebounds. Ferdinand Djordic also had a big game down low as he got 15 points and 8 rebounds. Timon Michaud had another huge game coming off the bench as he was able to score 13 points and grab 7 rebounds.

            Princeton is now 2-1.

Virginia Powers Past Princeton in First Round of Liberty Bell Classic

              11/19 vs. Virginia

              Liberty Bell Classic B - 1st Round

              Final: 74-94

Virginia came in as the overwhelming favorites and walked away with a 20 point victory over Coach Frizzell's Princeton Tigers. Coach Frizzell commented, "They just had too much talent and we simply could not match up. There were mismatches in their favor at just about every position and there was nothing we could do." Renardo Rodriguez (10 points) and Cedric Tchana (11 points, 2 rebounds) paced the Tigers in the loss. Wendell Lalugba tallied 10 points and 6 rebounds, but once again struggled from beyond the arc, where he went 0-5. Martin Sow tallied a double-double as he totaled 12 points and 10 rebounds.

              Princeton is now 2-2.

              Princeton Crushes Navy

              11/20 vs. Navy

Liberty Bell Classic B - 3rd Place Game

              Final: 93-64

After falling hard against a talented Virginia Cavaliers team yesterday, Princeton took on a much weaker Navy Midshipmen squad in the consolation game of the Liberty Bell Classic B. "We really bounced back from a tough loss to Virginia and played the best we have this entire season," commented Coach Frizzell. Princeton continued their balanced scoring as 5 players got into double-figures in the game. Wendell Lalugba bounced back from an 0-5 day from downtown yesterday to go 5-8 from beyond the arc today as he racked up 17 points and 4 rebounds. Cedric Tchana also played well as he picked up 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Martin Sow (18 points, 9 rebounds) and Ferdinand Djordic (10 points, 5 rebounds) both dominated the post while Francis Waleskiowski came off the bench in relief to tack on 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Princeton is now 3-2 and finishes in third place in the Liberty Bell Classic B.

Princeton Completes Sweep of Two Service Academies

              11/24 @ Army

              Final: 85-65

After beating Navy in their previous game, the Princeton Tigers traveled to West Point to take on the Army Midshipmen where they would attempt to sweep the two east coast service academies. "It's a shame we can't go out west to Colorado Springs and take on the Air Force Falcons to complete the sweep, but we'll take 2 of them any day!" Coach Frizzell joked. Ferdinand Djordic had a fantastic game as he tallied a career-high 22 points to go along with 11 rebounds and 3 assists. Wendell Lalugba rose to the occasion, as well, as he picked up 22 points and 7 rebounds. Renardo Rodriguez (12 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists) and Cedric Tchana (14 points, 5 assists) both facilitated the offense and were instrumental in getting the ball to the open man as they combined for 12 of Princeton's 21 assists.

              Princeton is now 4-2.

              Recruiting News

11/20 - 1st Day of Fall Signing Period

Princeton let Ron Heinen, the 7 footer who was listed at an impressive 279 pounds, get away as he appears headed to Temple, but was able to reel in 6'6 shooting guard Tremmell Christensen on the first day of the fall signing period. 2khoops.com analyst Lee Williamson stated, "Coach Frizzell really wanted to get Ron Heinen, as he would have been very beneficial to this team, but after Heinen came out and said he desired to head to Philadelphia to play at Temple, Coach Frizzell was able to get a very good guard in Tremmell Christensen. At 6'6, he has the height to play small forward, but has the versatility to play shooting guard or even point guard. He looks to be a good shooter. Though Coach Frizzell wanted a talented big man, this appears to be a great signing given the circumstances." Coach Frizzell only had 1 scholarship to use this year, so now he will go about trying to reel in next year's class as he will have a lot of time to focus on recruiting juniors.

Here is a look at Coach Frizzell's recruit:
              Tremmell Christensen 6'6 204 (Detroit, MI - #243 overall, #62 SF) 3*

Princeton Shocks 2nd Ranked Maryland In Overtime

                11/30 vs. #2 Maryland

                Final: 115-114 OT

"Wow, what a game!" shouted Coach Frizzell after his team shocked the college basketball world by defeating the Maryland Terrapins at home in Jadwin Gym. Jadwin Gym was overflowing with people as everybody wanted to see if the Princeton Tigers could do the unthinkable, beat Maryland. Coach Frizzell utilized a mismatch in the low post as Princeton's Martin Sow (27 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals) and Ferdinand Djordic (13 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists) were able to power over the shorter Maryland defenders for easy buckets. Princeton jumped out early and stormed to a 51-36 halftime lead, but a 64 point second half for the Terrapins ending with a buzzer beater sent the game to overtime with the score knotted up at 100. Princeton jumped out early in the extra period and held on for the win as Princeton scored an amazing 115 points. The only problem was that they allowed Maryland to score 114. Wendell Lalugba also contributed tonight as he went 4-7 from downtown and ended with 20 points and 4 rebounds. Renardo Rodriguez (9 points, 7 assists, 4 steals) and Cedric Tchana (15 points, 7 assists) combined for 14 of Princeton's 28 assists in the game. Francis Waleskiowski scored a career-high 14 points in the game. He also grabbed 5 rebounds.

                Princeton is now 5-2.

Princeton Slips by Central Connecticut State

                12/4 @ Central Connecticut State

                Final: 67-65

"We got overconfident after beating Maryland and really put on a pathetic performance out there. I have no idea how we were able to come away with the win, but we did, so we'll head home with the 'ole 'W', but we aren't happy with our performance whatsoever," commented Coach Frizzell. Princeton was behind much of the second half, but a Martin Sow hook shot with 24 seconds remaining propelled the Princeton Tigers past the Blue Devils. Cedric Tchana tallied his first career double-double as he scored 11 points and grabbed a surprising 10 rebounds, a lot for a 6'4 guard. Martin Sow, likewise, picked up a double-double as he totaled 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 steals. Wendell Lalugba led all scorers with 24 points to go along with 4 rebounds.

                Princeton is now 6-2.

Wow, what an upset! I bet that was the most entertaining game you've ever played.

Are you playing your games, or are you simming them? If playing, your pace through the legacy is very fast.

Yeah, it was crazy. It seemed like I couldn't miss a shot. Unfortunately, Maryland would not either. Then we came around in the game game against Central Connecticut State and laid an egg, only shooting like 38% from the field.

I am playing all of them. I know the pace is very fast. I play a lot and my life has not been very busy lately. Plus, this is the only game I play, though I may get GTA IV in the next few weeks. I don't usually play the ABL games either. Thanks for following!

Yes, the Hoyas were too good to upset. They were tall and big and I was way too undersized to beat them!

By the way, Maryland was very undersized, so I had a field day against them down low, which probably amounted to the upset.

As always, thanks for the comments and readership guys!

                          Hey SuperJames

Quick question. How do yo do your writeups. I noticed you post both here and in the 2k Sports forum. My readership is dying over in 2k and was thinking of doulbe posting in both to see if I can get a better following. I am assuming you just do it once and link it to both sites??

By the way sorry to see Heinen go elsewhere. First you lose out on Diaz last year and now Heinen. But looks like Tremmel is going to be good, but the size isssue might come up again once you get to the Dance and have to face a team like Georgetown again.

Have to say I am happy my IT guy at work hasn't blocked OS Forums like he did 2k

Well, I usually do the original one here on OS, then I copy the entire writeup and paste it into the 2K Sports forums. That way I don't have to type the article twice.

Yes, we just can't seem to recruit any size. I am targeting a 6'9 junior PF and a 6'9 sophomore PF right now which I hope grow to at least 6'10. I really don't want to have to recruit 2 star players like I had to do last year to get one in Francis Waleskiowski. There does not seem to be many good centers available for the next few years as most of them seem to be rated 2 star and below with a few 3, 4, and 5 stars that have no interest in me.

Tremmel should be good, but I am starting to stack up guys at small forward now, so I will probably redshirt him since he probably would not play much in his freshman year, anyways.

"What!! Princeton crushes Army!!!! (throws chair!) The Tigers can't do that!" coach Bob Knight yells.

(j/k of course. Congrats on the major upset over the Terps.)

I was wondering what all the racket was from that was coming from Army's locker room after the game. Must have been Bobby Night's chair tirade!!!

Thanks! That was an exciting game against the Terps, but a somewhat frustrating one, too, since I could not defend them at all.
