Princeton Struggles to Down Harvard
1/29/10 vs. Harvard
Final: 74-61
"Harvard certainly came out to play tonight. They never let us get much of a lead until the final minutes as they had us within 2 points with only 5 minutes remaining. We took off after that, but they gave us a run for our money. It was certainly no cake-walk," explained Coach Frizzell. Renardo Rodriguez exploded in the game as he carried his team to victory over the final few minutes. Rodriguez finished with 24 points and 2 rebounds and was a surprising 2-3 from three point range. "Renardo has been working on his jumpshot in practice and he seems to be coming around nicely. If he can consistently hit the jumpshot he will be hard to beat because he is a great slasher," explained Coach Frizzell. Wendell Lalugba was the only other Tiger in double-figures as he almost picked up a double-double with his 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Princeton is now 13-5 (1-0).

Princeton Sneaks Past Cornell Off of Game-Winning Layup
1/30/10 vs. Cornell
Final: 64-62
"Boy did we get a run for our money tonight! We came out sluggish and it almost backfired. Luckily, Wendell (Lalugba) carried us to victory when the going got tough and we were able to notch yet another win," commented Coach Frizzell. Princeton was down early and was behind 31-28 at halftime. The Tigers would not gain the lead until there were only a few minutes remaining, but it was enough as Renardo Rodriguez got the ball on a fastbreak and layed the ball in with only 3.4 seconds left to put Princeton up 64-62 and give his team the huge victory. Wendell Lalugba ended with 24 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Martin Sow (9 points, 7 rebounds) almost recorded a double-double while Ferdinand Djordic picked up a double-double as he tallied 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Princeton is now 14-5 (2-0).

Mid-Major Top 10 News
Following 2 close wins by Princeton, the pollsters have moved Princeton up one spot in the latest mid-major top 25 poll as the Tigers slide into the 6th spot.

Blowout Makes it Seven Wins in a Row For Princeton
2/5/10 @ Dartmouth
Final: 99-64
Princeton came out firing on all cylinders as the Tigers blew out Dartmouth on their own floor and shot over 65% to tie Coach Frizzell's largest margin of victory at 35 points. Five starters were in double-figures in the game. Renardo Rodriguez (17 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists) and Wendell Lalugba (17 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists) paced the offense well, contributing huge baskets and some pretty nice passes as they combined for 10 assists. Martin Sow (12 points, 7 rebounds) and Ferdinand Djordic (12 points, 6 rebounds) were both forces down low. Lincoln Gunn came off the bench to chip in 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists and made 3 three pointers. Coach Frizzell commented, "We played a great game. It doesn't get any better than this. I hope we can continue to play like this as we have a huge matchup with Columbia next."
Princeton is now 15-5 (2-0).

Tigers' Win Streak Snapped at Seven by Columbia
2/6/10 @ Columbia
Final: 53-63
"We knew it would be a tough game. Columbia was ranked 18th in the latest mid-major top 25 poll and we both were heavy favorites to win the Ivy League. This was an important game for us to win, but we failed as they now improve to 6-0 in conference play to our 3-1. We were lousy in the first half. It was despicable and I have never seen a team coached by myself play so horribly. We just could not hit the broad side of a barn in the first half. It seemed like there was a lid on the rim. We came back strong in the second half, but it was not enough," explained a frustrated Coach Frizzell. Princeton got themselves down 28-8 early on and were down 33-18 at halftime. Despite a second half comeback, Princeton could only get within 5 points as they eventually would fall by 10 and would have their lowest output in points this season. Wendell Lalugba was held scoreless in the first half as he was 0-6 and 0-3 from downtown. Though he ended with 9 points and 6 rebounds, he did not make a jump shot the entire game as he went 3-11 from the field. All three field goals were layups as he could not get the ball to go through the rim. This marks the first time in his career in which he did not score 10 points. Martin Sow (17 points, 6 rebounds) and Ferdinand Djordic (10 points, 7 rebounds) tried their best to get things going down low, but it was not enough as Princeton got no outside game going and ended 0-7 from three point range in the disappointing loss to the Columbia Lions.
Princeton is now 15-6 (3-1).

Mid-Major Top 10 News
Despite the loss to Columbia, the pollsters decided to keep Princeton idle at the 6th slot for a second week in a row. Coach Frizzell commented, "I thought we would drop down a few spots, but I guess the pollsters were impressed with our blowout of Dartmouth by 35 points. Besides, Columbia is a very good team and are definitely very, very good." Princeton also now holds an impressive RPI of 38. "I think our RPI is really good as a result of us going 2-2 against teams rated in the top 50 in RPI. We played a very hard out-of-conference scheduled, so I think it is paying off now for this team." Princeton has beaten Oklahoma who holds an RPI of 29 and Georgia Tech who holds an RPI of 31. Both wins came in the Hawaiian Invitational.Last edited by superjames1992; 05-11-2008, 10:54 AM.Comment

Brown Shocks Princeton
2/9/10 @ Brown
Final: 49-57
"We just gave a pathetic performance on the offensive end and it cost us the game. You won't win many games when you can't even crack 50 points," explained Coach Frizzell after his team's second loss in a row. Princeton was an ugly 2-14 from three point range and shot 42% for the game from the field. However, 12 turnovers cost the Tigers dearly. Wendell Lalugba ended with 13 points and 5 rebounds, but his jump shot was off for a second game in a row as he was only 1-6 from three point range. Ferdinand Djordic was the only other Tiger to have any sort of major contribution on the offensive end as he tallied 10 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Princeton is now 15-7 (3-2).

Princeton Blows Away Yale
2/12/10 vs. Yale
Final: 88-62
After losing 2 out of 3 games on the road, Princeton returned home to Princeton, New Jersey to take on the Yale Bulldogs. Princeton took control early and blew past the Bulldogs. Princeton was led by Wendell Lalugba who tallied a career-high 38 points and 3 assists in the game. He went 15-25 from the field and 7-11 from downtown. "Wendell (Lalugba) was the key tonight. His 38 points was the reason we won," stated Coach Frizzell. Renardo Rodriguez was efficient for the Tigers as he tallied 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists. Martin Sow (11 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists) and Ferdinand Djordic (8 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists) were very effective in the low post and opened up the three point arc for Wendell Lalugba to make open threes. Lincoln Gunn came off the bench to score 15 points and grab 4 rebounds as the Tigers poured it on the Bulldogs to snap their 2 game losing streak.
Princeton is now 16-7 (4-2).

Tigers Come Back to Win
2/13/10 vs. Penn
Final: 78-75
"We took and early 10 point lead, but after that we played very poorly. We let them come all the way back and they led much of the second half. Luckily, Martin Sow was able to get a basket with 32 seconds left to put us up 76-75 and we were able to stop Penn on defense to get the victory," commented Coach Frizzell. Wendell Lalugba had another great game to follow up his 38 point explosion against Yale as he tallied 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Marcus Schroeder (8 points, 3 assists) and Renardo Rodriguez (14 points, 6 rebounds) provided the Eagles with stellar guard play. Martin Sow not only scored 14 points and 6 rebounds, but also gave the ball up to his teammates for open shots as he also tallied 5 assists in the game. Ferdinand Djordic picked up a double-double as scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks and was an imposing force down low when on defense.
Princeton is now 17-7 (5-2).

The Tigers' RPI now stands at 50 after being at 38 one week ago. Coach Frizzell commented, "We may have a high ranking, but we have a lot of work to do. Princeton Overcomes Cornell
2/19/10 @ Cornell
Final: 71-62
Princeton got off to a slow start on the first of a 4 game road trip as they trailed by 5 points at the half. However, the Tigers used a strong second half to come back and get a huge road victory over Cornell, who was in second place in the Ivy League. Wendell Lalugba led the way with 26 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals as he powered Princeton's 45 second half points. Renardo Rodriguez also had a solid game as he tallied 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. Down low, Martin Sow (10 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists) and Ferdinand Djordic (8 points, 12 rebounds) provided a solid force in the paint. Coach Frizzell stated, "We showed some resiliency in our comeback. We got off to a bad start, but were able to overcome our horrible first half and get a huge road win."
Princeton is now 18-7 (6-2).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Princeton Uses a Strong Second Half to Blow Past Harvard
2/20/10 @ Harvard
Final: 70-54
"Once again we had a very sluggish first half, but we recovered with a very nice second half performance to seal the game. We need to come out ready to play because against good teams we cannot get behind by 10 points in the first half and expect to come back and win," Coach Frizzell explained. Princeton only held a slim 26-25 advantage at halftime, but outscored Harvard 44-29 in the second half to win by 16 points. Wendell Lalugba provided 15 points and 5 rebounds in the win. Martin Sow also had a solid game as he tallied 15 points and 7 rebounds. Lincoln Gunn (10 points, 2 rebounds) and Zach Woolridge (7 points, 11 rebounds) used their extended playing time in the second half to get good performances off the bench.
Princeton is now 19-7 (7-2).

Tigers Fall On Their Face Against Quakers
2/26/10 @ Penn
Final: 69-87
"We played a decent first half as we led by 1 at halftime. However, we came out in the second half very poorly as the Penn Quakers outscored us by 19 points in the final period of play. It was unfortunate and flat out embarrassing to be honest," beamed a disappointed Coach Frizzell. In the loss, Wendell Lalugba (14 points, 5 rebounds), Renardo Rodriguez (16 points, 2 assists), and Martin Sow (12 points, 6 rebounds) all had decent games, but the defense was not there as Princeton allowed 87 points to Penn, who came into the game with an 11-13 record. Marcus Schroeder also had a decent game as he tallied 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists, but it was not enough as Princeton was embarrassed on the road.
Princeton is now 19-8 (7-3).

Princeton Uses Powerful Second Half to Overcome Yale
2/27/10 @ Yale
Final: 84-77
Princeton was against came out very sluggishly in the first half, this time against Yale who posted a 9-14 record coming into the game. Yale took a 42-33 halftime lead as the Princeton Tigers looked lost out on the court. "We rallied the troops at halftime and we made some adjustments and I think it showed in the second half," stated Coach Frizzell. Chris Petrie hit 3 key three pointers in consecutive possessions to put Princeton up by 1 point as the grabbed their first lead of the game with 4 minutes left remaining in the game. Ironically, this run happened with Wendell Lalugba, Martin Sow, and Renardo Rodriguez on the bench, Princeton's top 3 leading scorers on the season. Princeton continued on and Renardo Rodriguez nailed a wide open three with 32 seconds left to ice the game as Princeton grabbed a tough road win over the Yale Bulldogs. Wendell Lalugba was key in the game as he scored 35 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. "He could do now wrong out there," explained Coach Frizzell. Senior point guard Martin Schroeder has been having a disappointing season, but did well tonight as he tallied 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists. Renardo Rodriguez (9 points, 2 assists) and Martin Sow (8 points, 6 rebounds) also had solid games as Princeton picked up it's 20th win of the year. Princeton's final 3 games of the season will be played at home.

Recruiting News
2/28/10 - In-Season Recruiting Ends
Coach Frizzell looks to have himself in a position to grab a solid recruiting class this offseason. The Tigers have already nabbed JUCO point guard Diamond Zahn in the fall signing period and now look to have several locks going into the spring signing period. 2khoops.com analyst Lee Williamson explained, "Coach Frizzell looks to have at least 3 locks going into the spring signing period. Senior 3* small forward Timon Michaud looks to be a lock and has had a scholarship offered to him, which he should easily accept. Cedric Tchana, a 6'4 3* shooting guard out of Cameroon, is not crazy about going to Princeton, but being that no other school is showing any interest in him, he looks to be a lock to land in New Jersey. Francis Waleskiowski also looks to be a lock. Waleskiowski is only a 2* center, but has good size at 6'11, 256 lbs., just want Princeton needs. Elmore Diaz is also in the running to go to Princeton. Diaz is a a 3* prospect and the #101 ranked recruit in the country and the #3 center. Princeton, IPFW, and Indiana State also show great interest in him, though, so he is certainly not a lock.

Press Conference
When asked about his team's chances at winning the Ivy League for a second straight year, Coach Frizzell responded, "Well, the chances look rather bleak. We would have to win our final 3 games and hope Columbia blows a game against a 7-20 Brown team, which looks unlikely. I think we do have a realistic shot at an NCAA Tournament berth, however. I was shocked when I saw that we were picked to be a #10 seed in the NCAA Tournament brackets by Joe Lunardi, but I guess our impressive RPI of 48 tells the story." Ivy League leader, Columbia, was picked as a #13 seed according to Lunardi. Princeton is still very much on the bubble, however.Last edited by superjames1992; 05-13-2008, 10:04 PM.Comment

Tigers Maul Lions at Home
3/5 vs. Columbia
Final: 82-51
"Wow, this may be the most impressive performance I have seen us put forth in the entire 3 years I have been here. We came out strong and beat up on the Columbia Lions, who lead the Ivy League with an 11-1 record. Now their record is 11-2, but it will take a choke-job against Brown for us to win the league. But then again, we lost to Brown, so who knows." Those were the words of Coach Frizzell after his team throughly dominated the Lions of Columbia. Marcus Schroeder has overall had a horrible year, but had a good game in this one with 12 points and 2 assists. Wendell Lalugba led all scorers with 18 points. He also grabbed 5 rebounds. Martin Sow (12 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals) and Ferdinand Djordic (9 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists) were quite a duo down low as they controlled the pace of the game. Their post-up ability brought the double team, freeing up Princeton's outside shooters. As a result, Princeton shot 10-18 from downtown.
Princeton is now 21-8 (9-3).

Tigers Thump Dartmouth for 3rd Win in a Row
3/6 vs. Dartmouth
Final: 94-53
"Well, I thought we played well last game, this was even better!" exclaimed Coach Frizzell after his team won over Dartmouth by a shocking 41 points, the largest margin of victory in Coach Frizzell's career. Princeton shot 14-28 from three point range, which was largely the reason Princeton jumped all over Dartmouth. Marcus Schroeder had another good game as he tallied 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Schroeder scored the first 9 points of the game and ended going 6-11 from three point range. Renardo Rodriguez (12 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists) and Wendell Lalugba (18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks) had solid games. Martin Sow (8 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists) and Ferdinand Djordic (8 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists) drew the double team almost every time they posted up and they recorded a combined 11 assists as a result. Lincoln Gunn (8 points, 4 rebounds), Zach Woolridge (7 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists), and Damien Allen (7 points, 2 rebounds) also had good games off the bench.
Princeton is now 22-8 (10-3).

Ivy League News
Earlier today, Columbia fell to Brown 65-62 on the road. Apparently, Columbia's 31 point loss to Princeton shook them up a bit as they looked horrible in the game against Brown. The loss moves the Columbia Lions down to an 11-3 conference record. This means that all Princeton has to do to win the Ivy League is beat Brown on Tuesday, March 9th, on Senior Night. "We can hopefully seize the opportunity!" exclaimed Coach Frizzell.

I feel great that we won the Ivy League!" beamed an excited Coach Frizzell after his team dismantled Brown to claim their second consecutive Ivy League Title, winning the tiebreaker over Columbia and Cornell by virtue of a better overall record. The win also punches the Tigers' ticket to the Big Dance. Renardo Rodriguez had a great game as he totaled 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Wendell Lalugba also scored 17 points, but also grabbed 8 rebounds. Martin Sow (9 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists) and Ferdinand Djordic (15 points, 7 rebounds) both had good games down low, as both have become dependable big men this year. Senior Marcus Schroeder tallied 4 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Other performances by seniors included Lincoln Gunn (6 points, 5 assists), Zach Woolridge (5 points, 6 rebounds), Chris Petrie (4 points, 2 rebounds), and Marquis Dooley (3 points).

After winning his second Ivy League Title in a row, Coach Frizzell was asked to share his feelings about another title. "It feels great! I am really impressed by how we pulled it together at the end. We looked lost midway through conference play, but we began to play much better and this team really gelled in our final 3 games as we won by an average margin of 28 points during that 3 game span. I can't wait to see where we end up in the NCAA Tournament. Joe Lunardi has us as a #8 seed, but we will have to wait and see how things play out."
Also, Princeton finishes off the season undefeated at home, posting a perfect 13-0 record at Jadwin Gym. "The crowd was always there to support us and I am very happy with how we played at home."

Thanks. I am using stewaat's set with a few modifications to fit my skill level. I really like them! I really like the speed of the game since stewaat tinkered with the speed slider to speed up the pace of the game, which I like a lot. Princeton Edges Past The Commodores
3/19 vs. #9 seed Vanderbilt
NCAA Tournament - 1st Round
Final: 95-88
"I am very proud of our guys. We showed a lot of poise out there and I am honored to get my very first win in the NCAA Tournament as a head coach. We got here last year, but it feels great to win!" beamed Coach Frizzell after his team used a potent offensive attack to beat the Vanderbilt Commodores of the SEC. The first half was wild as both teams shot far over 50%. Vanderbilt led 53-52 at halftime. Princeton, led by Wendell Lalugba's 25 points, came out with a passion in the second half and used an early 12-2 run to get ahead, where they would remain for good, as the Princeton Tigers beat the Commodores of Vanderbilt by a score of 95-88. Besides Lalugba's 25 points and 6-11 from downtown, Renardo Rodriguez also stepped up, delivering 19 points and 3 rebounds. Marcus Schroeder (12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists) and Martin Sow (16 points, 3 rebounds) also had good games as did Lincoln Gunn, who came off the bench to score 15 points.
Princeton is now 24-8 (11-3).

Princeton Shocks the Golden Bears to Grab Sweet Sixteen Appearance
3/21 vs. #1 seed California
NCAA Tournament - 2nd Round
Final: 90-77
Another game, another offensive showcase by the Princeton Tigers. "Nobody can stop us," explained Coach Frizzell. His Tigers are heading to the coveted Sweet Sixteen. A three pointer by Wendell Lalugba at the buzzer put Princeton up 42-32 at halftime. The talented Golden Bears would make several comeback attempts, but would fall in the end to a Cinderella Princeton Tigers squad. Wendell Lalugba led the way once again with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both guards played very well as Marcus Schroeder totaled 8 points and 5 rebounds while Renardo Rodriguez racked up 11 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. Martin Sow controlled the action down low as he tallied 15 points and 7 rebounds. For the second straight game, Lincoln Gunn came off the bench to score 15 points. He also nailed 3 crucial three pointers as the Princeton Tigers have shocked the world with their upset of the California Bears!
Princeton is now 25-8 (11-3).

Press Conference
After piloting his Tigers to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time in his 3 year coaching career, Coach Frizzell was asked what it feels like to have made it through the first week of play. "It feels like we are on top of the world, to be honest. We have scored over 90 points in each NCAA Tournament game. Our offense has been superb. I hope we can continue this great ride, because it has certainly been lots of fun!" Princeton will play the #5 seeded Georgetown Hoyas (25-9) on March 26th in a battle for the Elite Eight at the Frank Erwin Special Events Center in Austin Texas, home of the Texas Longhorns.
*NOTE: California really was not rated that great. They were actually rated worse than Vanderbilt. They just had a good season, but in reality Vanderbilt was the tougher rated team. That being said, Georgetown looks far more daunting...Last edited by superjames1992; 05-16-2008, 10:04 PM.Comment

Clock Strikes Midnight for Cinderella
3/26 vs. #5 seed Georgetown
NCAA Tournament - Sweet Sixteen
Final: 48-73
An undersized Tigers team went up against Goergetown, who possessed 3 big men over 7 feet tall. "We knew this was a very tough matchup for us coming into the game. Their height, size, and talent level overwhelmed us and we could not get open shots, resulting in a miserable shooting percentage," remarked Coach Frizzell. Princeton only managed 19 points in the first half and only 48 for the game as the Tigers only shot 31% from the field and went 3/19 from three point range. Wendell Lalugba had a miserable shooting day as he shot 3-11 overall and only went 1-8 from downtown. He only scored 9 points, but also grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds and dished out 3 assists. Renardo Rodriguez (11 points, 2 blocks) and Martin Sow (10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists) were the only other players to provide any sort of offense for the Tigers. Coach Frizzell's Cinderella run comes to an end, but it sure was a fun couple of games.
Princeton ends the season 25-9 (11-3).

Princeton Senior News
Princeton loses 5 players to graduation this season. "I feel for these guys, but I am happy that they got a chance to get deep into the NCAA Tournament with our Sweet Sixteen run this past year," commented Coach Frizzell.
The only starter lost is Marcus Schroeder. Schroeder was the starting point guard throughout Coach Frizzell's 3 years here at Princeton. He was always dependable, but never asked to do too much. His career averages per game are 6.1 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.9 assists.
Princeton also loses sixth man Lincoln Gunn to graduation. Thought Gunn struggled in his senior season, he was always a guy who could light you up from three. Gunn was very streaky. He was either on fire or ice cold. Gunn's best year was his junior year when he averaged 10.2 points per game and shot 35.8% from downtown. His career averages per game are 8.4 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists. he shot 33.6% from downtown over the course of his career.
Zach Woolridge was a starter for only one year here at Princeton. He started his sophomore year, but was bounced out in favor of the huge class Coach Frizzell brought in during his first recruiting class. In his first season he averaged 9.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. His career averages per game are 6.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Chris Petrie was never asked to do much and he never really amounted to much. He was a very streaky shooter, but when he was on he could hit the open three pointer, but he was not a lethal shooter by any means. His career averages per game are 2.6 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 0.7 assists.
Marquis Dooley walked onto the team in his junior year and made the team both years, but did not get much playing time. Dooley was starved for talent, but Coach Frizzell always praised him for his hard work and dedication. His career averages per game are 1.2 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.6 assists over his 2 year career.
