vs.
West Virginia (18-8) vs. South Florida (8-16)
Sun Dome
Tampa, FL
February 16th, 2020
The West Virginia Mountaineers (18-8, 8-5) won their fourth game of their last five this Sunday afternoon as they defeated the South Florida Bulls (8-16, 2-10) 83-73 behind a strong shooting performance.
The Mountaineers shot 31-for-58 from the field and 12-for-23 from three-point range, which is a far cry from their recent struggles shooting the basketball from beyond the arc. West Virginia was also dominant on the glass, as they outrebounded the Bulls 35-to-20.
Turnovers kept USF in the game, however, as the Bulls forced 15 Mountaineers turnovers while only turning the ball over six times themselves. However, it wasn't enough to win the game as West Virginia maintained a 10-to-15 point lead for the majority of the second half and cruised to a 10-point win to improve to 8-5 in Big East Conference play.
The Mountaineers had five players score in double-figures this afternoon. Raynardo Admundson and Josh Bigby, who shot 4-for-5 from deep, led the way with 12 points apiece. Marquel Proffitt, Marqus Coulter, and Dinky Woods also had strong performances.
West Virginia will take on the Seton Hall Pirates (12-12, 6-6) next on February 22nd.

vs.
Seton Hall (12-14) vs. West Virginia (19-8)
WVU Coliseum
Morgantown, WV
February 22nd, 2020
The West Virginia Mountaineers (19-8, 9-5) defeated the Seton Hall Pirates (12-14, 6-8) this afternoon 75-63 behind a strong performance on both ends of the court. This win ensures the Mountaineers at least a .500 record in conference play and probably assures the Mountaineers of an NCAA Tournament berth, barring a complete collapse, as the Mountaineers are the #8 RPI team in the country because of their difficult schedule, even with eight losses.
Marqus Coulter led the Mountaineers today with one of the best games of his career, as he scored 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. As a team, the Mountaineers collected 38 rebounds, which compared to Seton Hall's total of 25 rebounds, was a key reason why West Virginia managed to win this game.
Seton Hall put up a good fight, but trailed for essentially the whole game.
West Virginia has Sunday and Monday off before taking on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (15-12, 6-8) on Tuesday in South Bend. The Mountaineers beat the Irish 76-64 in Morgantown in their previous matchup this season.

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
9-5 so far in the Big East isn't bad considering this is your 1st time in the Big East.. I can't believe how bad Louisville is. Is their team just really young?? It seems in all of my legacies I have played they are always 1 of the Top-3 teams in the Big East and in the nation landing 5* AA every year..
Your Top-25 is crazy.. To see Duquesne #4 is cool. Is their team loaded with Juniors and Seniors. It will be interesting to see if this is just a 1 year blip or if they can stay good. Also love seeing Temple,Rhode Island and LaSalle in the Top-25 as well as San Francisco. Hopefully USF can continue to play at a high level even after Owen's and Kole leave.Comment

vs.
West Virginia (19-9) vs. Notre Dame (16-12)
Joyce Center
South Bend, IN
February 25th, 2020
The West Virginia Mountaineers (19-9, 9-6) suffered a painful loss this evening as they blew a nine-point halftime lead in a 74-69 loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (16-12, 7-8). The Mountaineers led 35-26 at halftime and led by as many as 14 points in the first half, but a horrible second half in which WVU was outscored 48-34 sent the Mountaineers home packing with their ninth loss of the season.
Notre Dame was on fire shooting the basketball in the second half as they racked up 48 second-half points. Overall, the Fighting Irish shot 53% from the field. In comparison, the Mountaineers shot 48% from the field, which generally is good enough to win, but not in this case.
"We really broke down in the second half," commented Coach Frizzell. "That was just a flat out meltdown, particularly in the final few minutes.
"This is a very disappointing loss for us as our last few games will not be easy, so we may have a hard time picking up another win anytime soon."
The Mountaineers will take on Louisville (15-11, 4-10) on the road on Saturday. The Cardinals have won four consecutive games. West Virginia will then close out the regular season against #2 Marquette (22-3, 13-2) and #9 Connecticut (24-4, 13-3). The only saving grace is that the last two games will be played in Morgantown.
